BB Bold 9700 :: How Does Wireless Router Works
Jun 15, 2010
I recently moved and since then, I am experiencing now signal at my new house. I called TMO several times and they have issued several work tickets, all coming back saying there was a problem with the towers but has been resolved. I am still experiencing the same problem.
I was informed that I could get a wireless router for my home so I would get great signal. i would just have to hook it up to my computer and then whenever I am home, my phone will go through that for signal, hence giving me 5 bars as opposed to the 1 bar and constant switching between 3g, edge and gprs.
I guess I really don't understand how that works, what kind of router to by and if I will be charged anything extra from TMO for using that.

I have my cell service through T-Mobile and recently upgraded to a Bold 9700 with internet service. I can browse the internet over the 3G network and at a Hot Spot location using the Wi-Fi. What I can't do is access the internet through my wireless router at home. The Netgear router (WPN824 v3) works fine through the cable modem for laptops and my daughter's Motorola Click smartphone. When I turn off the 3G network, I get a "can't find the server message".

I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.

OK, this might sound like a silly Q, but when I connect my BB 9700 to my home broadband router via wi-fi, are all browsing data downloads automatically directed via the wi-fi, rather than via my carrier's network, or is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?

I have A Blackberry Torch 9800....OS 6...And It's Not picking Up my Wireless Router....When I turn The Wifi On, The Grey dark Symbol Just Comes On But When I try To Search For Any Routers It Doesn't Detect Any...I've tried Connecting It Manually But It Says "Failed To Connect To The Internet"..If I Stand near Beside The Router It Connects But The Signal Is Very Weak...I Have To Literally Be Standing Right Next To The Router Or Else My Torch Won't Pick It Up..This Started Happening Couple Days Ago But Before That It Had No problem Connecting.. Do I Just Have A Bad Signal?.If So, Why Did It Just Started All Of A Sudden Cause It used To Work Flawless Before That?

I have a Linksys WRT310N wireless router. My iPhone 4s won't connect to the router in Wireless N only mode. I have set the radio band to the 20Mhz channel and picked a channel. It refuses to connect. However, if I choose mixed mode it works. How can I get it to connect in N-only mode with a Linksys router?

I just got the Storm 2 yesterday as a replacement phone for the Tour. I am trying to connect the S2 to my wireless network. When I try to connect, it says to "Enter this PIN into your wireless router." How do you do this? I am using Verizon DSL and am using the Verizon's Modem/Wireless Router/Switch.

I am having trouble connecting my Blackberry Curve 8520 to my home router. I keep getting the message 'this wireless router supports wifi protected set up. To connect using a pin click next'. Having pressed next the message then reads 'provisioning wifi profiles. Enter this pin into your wireless router (and gives a number that changes each time)'. How do I enter a number into a router?? I didn't think this was possible .. and I have no way of entering numbers into my router.

I've been using Samsung S5620 Monte (S5620 Onix in Spain; S5620 Star 3G in Brazil) for a few days now. It's a nice phone, but I can't get WiFi to work in WPA2-PSK(AES) mode with my DLink DI-524 wireless router. I can get the phone to connect in open, WEP or WPA modes, at home and also in public wireless networks, but there's no way to get it to work in WPA2 mode (which is my protocol of choice).
My wireless router log keeps saying that the phone has associated and then immediately disassociated because “WPA retey failed”. The DI-524 is running with the latest firmware update (hardware code B4, firmware version 2.07). It seems to be a Monte protocol issue, since both my Nokia E71 phone and my Dell Vostro notebook can easily connect to my home wireless network using WPA2. Is anybody facing the same problem? Is there any way to solve it? Does Samsung intend to release a firmware update soon?

I've had my BB 9700 for just over a month now, without having any issues whatsoever with the handset, my 9700 refuses to connect to my wireless home network, it finds the network, acquires an IP address, a displays the signal strength and connection speed , but looking at the Wi-Fi diagnostics on the BB there seems to be a problem with the Infrastructure, it attempts to connect and continuously fails.
I am using a Netgear DG934GT Router, running Firmware 1.03.23, all my other wireless devices (laptop, iPod Touch and PS3) connect fine to the wireless network, I have tried restarting the BlackBerry, and the router, this doesn't seem to solve the problem, I've also removed and re-added the wireless network to my BlackBerry, this has not solved my problem either. I am on T-Mobile and the BB is not unlocked or anything of that nature.

The trackpad on my Blackberry Bold 9700 works intermittently. I've:
- Updated the software OS 6.
- Done a hard reset.
- Done multiple soft resets.
I also tried cleaning the trackpad with paper (read somewhere that it's the oils on fingers that causes the problem).

I bought a 9700 two months ago, pay as you go Orange, a now I can make calls only with the handset plugged in. When I make calls, there is a sign upper left the screen which indicates to plug the headset. People can hear me but I can't hear them or barely with a "bip sound" which cut the line almost every second.
Otherwise, with the headset it works perfectly well!.I did try to pull the battery while on but no recovery, I did a wipe (except for emails). Please note I do not receive emails anymore (I have a monthly contract with Orange for BB emails).

I started out with the problem that I cannot use internet or receive text/bbm/emails on my phone. I called Bell's tech support, and they had me download the new OS (which I had) and if that didn't work, use the security wipe. So, I did that. Now that my bold 9700 has been reset to the factory settings, I am trying to add my hotmail account back onto it so I can add my bbm contacts. However, when I try to go to the "email set up" my ONLY option is to add a work email account with the BES. Not at all what I want.As a side note, I also noticed that the "wireless update" option is now missing from the options menu. Also, my bb browser goes to the Bell mobile portal instead of the old homepage. Not a major issue, but just noticed the differences.
