BB Bold :: Connect 9700 To Home Broadband Router Via Wifi?
Aug 20, 2010
OK, this might sound like a silly Q, but when I connect my BB 9700 to my home broadband router via wi-fi, are all browsing data downloads automatically directed via the wi-fi, rather than via my carrier's network, or is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?
my 9300 won't pick up my home router. It picks up other people's around me but when it scans it doesn't find mine. I have had it connected in the past and have tried the reboot (taking out the battery whilst still on) but it didn't improve, I have tried to connect via WPS and manually. My play book is connected and the router is fine.
Just received my Curve today. Not sure if this is to do with my service provider or the handset itself! I am also a bit of a techno-phobe!I cannot connect to the internet! On my old LG Ku990 i could easily connect to the web with no need to set anything up and got charged per data received (this actually was included in my free calls). I had such high hopes for the curve to be better than that! I do not know how to set up my curve to be able to acces the web. on the set up menu all the options i have are for a wi-fi connection to my home braodband wireless router. Why can't i just connect via the phone as i could on my old LG? When i try and connect to my home broadband it asks for a PSK code and i do not know what this is or where to find it!Is it possible to connect to the web without using my home broadband router?Any help will be much appreciated as i am dying to use this new phone to the best of its ability!
Like many of you , I'm having WiFi connection problems with my new BB9700.When I am out of the house, I can see my BB finding local WiFI hotspots and I can connect to them immediately. However, when I get home, my BB doesn't connect to my WiFi, returning the following error message: Unable to Connect Reason: Failed to obtain an IP address I have downloaded the latest BB software (now running version 5.0.0.351), cold booted everything in sight (router, phone, coffee table and the cat) but still get the same error. My foot hurts, the cat isn't talking to me and I still cannot connect at home ! Of course my Carrier's connection works perfectly as does their outrageous fee structure... (They are 3G, or Hutchinson Telecom by another name.)My WiFi service provider (PCCW / Netvigator Hong Kong) has checked the setup of my system and reports that everything is working correctly. I can connect my PS3, my laptop, my Nokia E71 without any problem and the hotline guy can see when I connect each of them to the system.I have tried different combinations of switching the usual options on and off on the BB but still can't get a connection.
My iphone 4s is having problem connecting to my home router. (ASUS)I was able to connect my home router using my laptop, and my Iphone can see all the nnetwork in the building, but it just did not connet.I am at work and my iphone is able to connect to work wireless. What can be wrong?
When I leave home and return, I have to manually connect back to my home wifi. From what I remember, it used to do that all by itself and connect with any other network that I've connected to in the past automatically. It no longer does that. I'm not finding any answers on Google that work.
i changed my modem router yesterday, did all the settings. all my devises can join my wi-fi but my iphone 5s cant. it recognizes the network, tries to join it, but cant join it.
Turned my iphone on and off two times, Turned my router on and off several times, reset my network setting on the iphone, changed the channel on the router twice, pressed "forget this network" and tried to connect manually.
My iPhone 4 (version 5.1.1) uses 3G unless I'm right on top of the router in my home. I've already exceeded my monthly data allowance because of this. My phone company was less than helpful. None of my other wireless devices (kindle fire, iPad, iPhone 3GS, laptop) has this problem.
My wife has a bb 9300 3g on os6 and everything has been fine. However somehow she has screwed up the wi-fi settings. The phone will not connect to our home router and displays the rror message " failed to obtain an IP address".I hve tried everything on the phone from
- Removing the wi-fi setting and reentering them. - Entering the details manually - Removing the battery and rebooting the phone - Reinstally the os over the computer
Nothing seems to work. I know the router is fine as I have the same phone and it connects ok along with several other devices.Has anyone any suggestions before I reset the phone to factory setting?
I have Blackberry curve 9380. Recently I purchased Digisol Broadband router model DG-BG4011N which I am using with BSNL Broadband connection. The trouble is I cant use this wifi connection on my Blackberry. My blackberry discovers this connection, asks for a passpharase and connects to wifi. It even displays on homesvreen as connected but stil I cannot use internet over wifi. Everytime when I access browser, App world etc, the connection being used is my mobile EDGE connection. When I try to use only wifi by disconnecting from Bsnl network, it will give me error. I contacted Digisol helpline, but they also could not help. I have tried changing security on my digisol interface from WPA only to WPA2 and to auto mode, but still cannot use internet over wifi on my Blackberry. Wifi works fine on my laptop. Also my blacberry works fine over wifi at a friends place.
i have an iphone 4s and i can not connect to any wirless router using wifi, the only way it to put it in the freezer for a few minutes and the i only get like 5 minutes of wifi time and the the connection drops again and the phone can not even recognize the network?
i just got the play today, and tried linking it to my home wifi and it connects but say limited connectivity. how can i fix this? I have already reset the router, emoved and readded the router to the phone. phone is fully up to date.
I bought a xperia ray 3 month ago.its Android was GB.When I connectd it to a TPlink modem router wireless it worked very well. Now recently I bought a D-link router with a dsl modem.but when I connect my phone to it use Wifi It didnt work well.I mean it couldnt open sites well and was able to open just some sites with very low speed.I read that with upgrading to ICS its problem will solve.so I did that last night.but problem not solved completely.my phone cannot open all sites, i think it open just local sites.example it cannot anything I have a laptop too.that connet to router with any problem.
I want to know if this is a problem with my phone or if it is the router.
The problem is that whenever I try to connect to a router, I get a message that my phone cant authenticate with it. I am sure the password is typed in correctly and I have tried to restart the router and do a factory reset on my phone. The only way to connect to some routers is to push the wps-button. This is very annoying. When at work, I can connect fine to one of the routers there, but not the others. I cant connect to the router in my home without pressing the wps-button (once that is done, it connects automatically)
Is this a known issue with the xperia phones? And is this a problem that is caused by the phones or is it that the routers may be a little old? I also want to add that my other devices has connected to these networks just fine.
I currently have the blackberry bold 9700 for tmobile.I can connect to my home network but i cant use apps such as the facebook app or the IM+ app or any social networking apps of that sort.Whenever i do try, it says you need a mobile carrier internet connection or a wifi connection. I have a white signal(showing im connected) to my home network but nothing will work.
How can I make WiFi connect automatically to my router why do I have to tell it to connect every time I can not see any auto settings Also seems to drop off after about 30 Min is this power save?
I've had my BB 9700 for just over a month now, without having any issues whatsoever with the handset, and recently my 9700 refuses to connect to my wireless network at home, it finds the network, acquires an IP address, and connection speed even displays the signal strength, but looking at the Wi-Fi diagnostics on the BB there seems to be a problem with the Infrastructure, it attempts to connect and continuously fails.
I have tried restarting the BB, and the router, this doesn't seem to solve the problem though.
Has anyone else had or heard of this issue before? And are there any solutions?
I am on T-Mobile and the BB is not unlocked or anything of that nature.
I have a blackberry bold 9700 and i got it a few days ago and every since then ive been trying to get the wifi working. The phones unlocked by the way. I set up the wifi fine but in manage connections i have my network in green beside my wifi and a white tick to the right and its supposed to be a green checkmark im assuming. No matter what i do my wifi symbol wont light up white its still grey and i set up the wifi and it says it succesfully connected but still no wifi. Is it my phone settings or my internet or my phone i dont know right now im so confused. and i have a linksys router and im with roger
I am currenlty with some friends. everyone can connect to the wi-fi but me 6 pc, four iphone etc.even my pc but not my blackberry< It shows the network and the status is connected but the wi-fi icon is never white
I will be going on vacation and to avoid the ridiculous roaming data charges, was wondering how I can connect to BIS over wifi? I have a BB data plan with my carrier (Rogers). I just want to be able to receive e-mails and use BBM when I'm connected via wifi while I'm away. I'm guessing that if I set "Data Services" to On and "While Roaming" to Off, under Mobile Network Options, this would NOT work, correct? Or am I mistaken?
I have my cell service through T-Mobile and recently upgraded to a Bold 9700 with internet service. I can browse the internet over the 3G network and at a Hot Spot location using the Wi-Fi. What I can't do is access the internet through my wireless router at home. The Netgear router (WPN824 v3) works fine through the cable modem for laptops and my daughter's Motorola Click smartphone. When I turn off the 3G network, I get a "can't find the server message".
I had a 9700 last week on Orange (UK) had bad coverage but noticed when i played with the options it connected via my router to UMA. i since returned my phone and now with UK provider Vodafone which works much better, but not managed to to get UMA going. Any ideas?
My BB Pearl 8120 picks up wi-fi fine, but I have just replaced my home router and it doesn't recognize it when I scan for networks, All other wireless devices in the house (TV, laptop, I-Pad, son's phone) connect no problem.
