BB Bold 9700 :: How Does Wireless Router Works
Jun 15, 2010I recently moved and since then, I am experiencing now signal at my new house. I called TMO several times and they have issued several work tickets, all coming back saying there was a problem with the towers but has been resolved. I am still experiencing the same problem.
I was informed that I could get a wireless router for my home so I would get great signal. i would just have to hook it up to my computer and then whenever I am home, my phone will go through that for signal, hence giving me 5 bars as opposed to the 1 bar and constant switching between 3g, edge and gprs.
I guess I really don't understand how that works, what kind of router to by and if I will be charged anything extra from TMO for using that.
BB Bold :: Trackpad On 9700 Works Intermittently
Dec 18, 2011The trackpad on my Blackberry Bold 9700 works intermittently. I've:
- Updated the software OS 6.
- Done a hard reset.
- Done multiple soft resets.
I also tried cleaning the trackpad with paper (read somewhere that it's the oils on fingers that causes the problem).

BB Bold :: 9700 Trackpad Only Works Part Of The Time?
Nov 11, 2010I have the 9700 and for about the past week the trackpad has only worked part of the time. It will quit working and all I have to do to get it to work for a while is do a battery pull. But, this only works part of the time.

Jun 1, 2010I bought a 9700 two months ago, pay as you go Orange, a now I can make calls only with the handset plugged in. When I make calls, there is a sign upper left the screen which indicates to plug the headset. People can hear me but I can't hear them or barely with a "bip sound" which cut the line almost every second.
Otherwise, with the headset it works perfectly well!.I did try to pull the battery while on but no recovery, I did a wipe (except for emails).Please note I do not receive emails anymore (I have a monthly contract with Orange for BB emails).

Jun 20, 2010I have audio through the headset or speakerphone with no issue but none through the handset. Did a battery pull but that did not resolve the issue. I also just upgraded to Rogers OS 5.0.0.743 not sure if this is what caused the problem.

Jan 13, 2010I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.

If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.

Jun 4, 2014My phone has been acting up since installing the latest iOS 7.1.1. The back lighting for the screen works intermittetly. I have been able to get it to come back on by turning the phone off and back on, but not every time. Once I enabled VoiceOver through Siri and turned ScreenCurtain On and Off. Other times, just clicking the home button and a few times on a notification that would turn the back lighting on. The phone seems to want to respond to turning the back lighting on, but does not do it every time it should. It usually takes 10 - 30 minutes of me working with it to get it to come back on. The phone has not been dropped and is in an Otterbox case.

BB Bold :: Screen Works, But Nothing Else Does?
Aug 5, 2012Alright, so the screen works perfectly. The main screen works, when I plug it in the clock shows up and the selection menu does too. The trackpad and all of the other buttons; however, are not responding. Trackpad wont scroll and the buttons dont do anything. Even the lock and unlock does nothing.

I am a technician configuring a BB for a customer. I just wiped the device and reloaded the OS, including the base software and a few specific programs I've installed on every other blackberry I've done as per company standard. I've tried multiple battery pulls and I've tried reloading the OS through the blackberry desktop software, and it hasn't fixed my issue:
The trackpad only works in specific menus, and it seems to half-work in others, requiring me to use the touchscreen to navigate. Specifically, it WILL work if the selection is currently in the app list, or if I am in the Options. It does NOT work to transition from the home screen to the app list, when viewing the user agreement after pushing programs through desktop manager, and it does not work at all when I am in the Setup. It doesn't appear to be a hardware issue, because the trackpad seems to specifically work in some areas and not work in others. When it works, it works 100%, and when it doesn't work it is useless.
Are there troubleshooting steps I should attempt, or is this an issue that would be better handled by the carrier? The phone technically "works" but I don't want to give a phone with limited functionality to this customer.

Aug 21, 2010My Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.

Jun 2, 2010I have recently purchased this 9700 (3 weeks ago) and am generally very pleased with the device. BUT If I leave the BB 9700 connected overnight to the computers USB Port for charging, and, obviously, after a few hours the computer will go to sleep, thus turning off the power to the USB port In the morning I find that the BB is: Off and will not turn on, unless it is power reset. In other words I have to open up the back and pull the battery for a second then after It is put back in the red light will display nevertheless it will turn on and be fine once it boots back up. There are no other indications or problems. I notice that other people have similar complaints with their BB's.

So whenever I have a signal, I have internet. Is this new Bold the same way? My sister has it and we were in the car today and it said internet coverage was not found.
