Tether a wireless router? With jail break 3GS 3.1.3, can one connect it to a wireless router that has a USB port for an aircard, but instead of using an ATT aircard, use the iphone w/ a USB card ? Would like to do this because for my purposes I have both laptop an desktop running, but use them for different things.

I have a Linksys WRT310N wireless router. My iPhone 4s won't connect to the router in Wireless N only mode. I have set the radio band to the 20Mhz channel and picked a channel. It refuses to connect. However, if I choose mixed mode it works. How can I get it to connect in N-only mode with a Linksys router?

I have my cell service through T-Mobile and recently upgraded to a Bold 9700 with internet service. I can browse the internet over the 3G network and at a Hot Spot location using the Wi-Fi. What I can't do is access the internet through my wireless router at home. The Netgear router (WPN824 v3) works fine through the cable modem for laptops and my daughter's Motorola Click smartphone. When I turn off the 3G network, I get a "can't find the server message".

I recently moved and since then, I am experiencing now signal at my new house. I called TMO several times and they have issued several work tickets, all coming back saying there was a problem with the towers but has been resolved. I am still experiencing the same problem.
I was informed that I could get a wireless router for my home so I would get great signal. i would just have to hook it up to my computer and then whenever I am home, my phone will go through that for signal, hence giving me 5 bars as opposed to the 1 bar and constant switching between 3g, edge and gprs.
I guess I really don't understand how that works, what kind of router to by and if I will be charged anything extra from TMO for using that.
My internet contract with Comcast is over, and I have a BB9550 with Verizon with unlimited data access.I'm wondering can I use BB9550 as a regular modem and connect it a wireless router, then connect my laptop to the router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Samsung S5620 Monte (S5620 Onix in Spain; S5620 Star 3G in Brazil) for a few days now. It's a nice phone, but I can't get WiFi to work in WPA2-PSK(AES) mode with my DLink DI-524 wireless router. I can get the phone to connect in open, WEP or WPA modes, at home and also in public wireless networks, but there's no way to get it to work in WPA2 mode (which is my protocol of choice).
My wireless router log keeps saying that the phone has associated and then immediately disassociated because “WPA retey failed”. The DI-524 is running with the latest firmware update (hardware code B4, firmware version 2.07). It seems to be a Monte protocol issue, since both my Nokia E71 phone and my Dell Vostro notebook can easily connect to my home wireless network using WPA2. Is anybody facing the same problem? Is there any way to solve it? Does Samsung intend to release a firmware update soon?
I recently bought a Nokia C3-00 WiFi phone but I can't seem to browse my home wireless connection with it. The phone can detect and connect with the wireless network successfully but when I open my mobile browser, it can't load websites, saying "Service not available."However, I can connect and browse the internet through other WiFi hotspots, just not my home connection. The router I'm using is LP-8616. It's an AP router, if that helps. Unfortunately, there's no firmware upgrade for this router anymore.

I can get on the internet no problem, have even turned off my O2 network and just left my wireless network on and can still get on the web so know the router is letting me connect, have even tried to change the browser from BB to Firefox to IE but still no joy.

However since it has a cap on data per month I want it to be secondary to several other unlimited WiFi networks such as my office WiFi, home WiFi, free WiFi hotspots, etc. Is there any work around to make the MiFi wireless (or any permanent wireless network) 2nd to all other recognized networks? This is the ideal set-up for my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 WiFi. I don't want to have to turn the MiFi on and off constantly, I want it on in the background as a seamless secondary option. I appreciate any insight and find it odd that you cannot prioritize networks. Meaning if I "forgot this network" and start over will the 1st joined or most recent joined become primary when there are multiple networks available?

I am sure that someone here has figured out how to do this. I have a WiFi iPad, a 3Gs iPhone running 3.1.3 and baseband 5.12.01. I also have the older 3G iPhone with no SIM. I want to get 3G access through either one of these phones or perhaps get an Android based phone that can be rooted. So my questions are:
Is it possible for me to get a SIM to put into my older iPhone 3G and then use it on my current Rogers plan in which I have the 6GB data plan? Rogers says no.

I've read that you can going into network settings personal hot spot my 5.1 doesnt have that option. I'd rather not jailbreak my phone then get a tether app as was whole point of buying an unlocked phone as travel a lot. Any one can help how n what I have to do to make this phone work. I used to be able to tether my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.7.4) by connecting my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) through the USB cable. Now I cannot anylonger. It works fine tethering using Wi-Fi.I prefer USB tethering to Wi-Fi tethering because it conserves both the Macbook and the iPhone battery.The problem is that I do not have an "Ethernet Adaptor (en5)" service in the list, and I do not know how to create one.I am sure that my USB port and cable works well, because it charges my phone, and I can use it for development (XCode) uploading apps and running them in debug mode. I also tried to turn off the Macbook Wi-Fi, connect and disconnect the iPhone with the Personal Hotspot ON, restart both the Macbook and the iPhone.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have to tether my iPhone for sync to my PC for security reasons. I am able to get contacts to flow from Outlook to the iPhone, however contacts I put in the iPhone will not flow back to Outlook. I can't seem to find any triggers that would affect the flow. I'm sure it's something simple I am missing. I am using outlook 2010 with a 64gb iphone 5s and the current version of itunes.Â

I can connect to the laptop but DHCP doesn't auto assign the laptop an IP address so it cannot access the internet. Tried manually configuring the settings of the wireless card in windows using the same address assigned when connected via USB but it still doesn't work.
