I am sure that someone here has figured out how to do this. I have a WiFi iPad, a 3Gs iPhone running 3.1.3 and baseband 5.12.01. I also have the older 3G iPhone with no SIM. I want to get 3G access through either one of these phones or perhaps get an Android based phone that can be rooted. So my questions are:
Is it possible for me to get a SIM to put into my older iPhone 3G and then use it on my current Rogers plan in which I have the 6GB data plan? Rogers says no.
I understand that there is no current jailbreak for the 3GS that I have. Will I be able to purchase a Droid phone and then root it as per the instructions here http://www.notebooks.com/2010/04/22/...nnected-to-3g/
I currently have the iphone 3gs and I tether it to my laptop and other random computers. my question is do you think I will have to buy the 3G version of the IPAD or can i get the wireless version and tether my iphone to it cause if I hear correctly I might be able to remove my existing sim card and use it in the IPAD. if this were true. ANNOYING!! thers no way i want to take that out back and forth. but if it isnt true the tether option is pretty convienient. any thoughts?
I have been reading reviews that the iPad camera connection kit no longer works with the latest iPads, does anyone know if this is still the case or has the issue been addressed/fixed?
just purchased the new iPad but have pictures on an iPad 2 that I am going to give to my son. How do I transfer the photos from the old iPad to the new one? Thanks.
I've just got a new 4s network free direct from. Apple and want to tether it. I'm with a network provider down in Venezuela so no usage restrictions.
I've read that you can going into network settings personal hot spot my 5.1 doesnt have that option. I'd rather not jailbreak my phone then get a tether app as was whole point of buying an unlocked phone as travel a lot. Any one can help how n what I have to do to make this phone work. Thinking made bad design buying iPhone as nothing is simple like my old windows phone which connected to everything n didn't need hundreds of apps to make it work. iPhone sold me this network free phone but don't offer the facility for people same as me to use it how I want to.
I used to be able to tether my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.7.4) by connecting my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1) through the USB cable. Now I cannot anylonger. It works fine tethering using Wi-Fi.I prefer USB tethering to Wi-Fi tethering because it conserves both the Macbook and the iPhone battery. The problem is that I do not have an "Ethernet Adaptor (en5)" service in the list, and I do not know how to create one.I am sure that my USB port and cable works well, because it charges my phone, and I can use it for development (XCode) uploading apps and running them in debug mode. I also tried to turn off the Macbook Wi-Fi, connect and disconnect the iPhone with the Personal Hotspot ON, restart both the Macbook and the iPhone.
Tether a wireless router? With jail break 3GS 3.1.3, can one connect it to a wireless router that has a USB port for an aircard, but instead of using an ATT aircard, use the iphone w/ a USB card ? Would like to do this because for my purposes I have both laptop an desktop running, but use them for different things.
I was unable to see the Tether Data usage meter that shows Sent and Recieved data under the Settings>General>Usage tab.?I am having iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1.. I need to see my tethered usage via personal hotspot.
I have an iphone 4G 8gb and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus. I am wanting to tether my tablet to my phone. Can i do this without jailbreaking my phone or do i have to jailbreak it?
How can I tether via USB my iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1 to my MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.2.2 ? At the same time Personal Hotspot via both WiFi and Bluetooth works perfectly!
Can one tether 3GS and receive calls at same time? That is, can I use a 3GS 3.1.3 w/ jailbreak, to tether my laptop, and get incoming calls on the 3GS while it remains tethered? If not, then is there any iphone set-up with which this can be done ?
I have to tether my iPhone for sync to my PC for security reasons. I am able to get contacts to flow from Outlook to the iPhone, however contacts I put in the iPhone will not flow back to Outlook. I can't seem to find any triggers that would affect the flow. I'm sure it's something simple I am missing. I am using outlook 2010 with a 64gb iphone 5s and the current version of itunes.Â
I tried resetting network settings without success.
I can connect to the laptop but DHCP doesn't auto assign the laptop an IP address so it cannot access the internet. Tried manually configuring the settings of the wireless card in windows using the same address assigned when connected via USB but it still doesn't work.
It states that subnet mask isn't compatable with ip address.
I have been out of work getting some side jobs to support myself and keep this prepaid phone working. I have a job offer doing roadside rescue's but I have to have a laptop with internet service. The 220cm I pay $45 for the unlimited all the way around and would like to know how I can tether this thing to my laptop and call them back and let them know I am set up and most definitly available to start TODAY!
I am brand new to android. I can't get my phone to tether via USB or allow my laptop to work from it as a mobile hot spot. I can see the phone as a mobile hot spot and login but it will not let me access the internet. My laptop tells me that it can't acquire an IP address. Also, when I Use USB it doesnt let me upload the driver to use as a modem.
I installed the drivers from motohelper but when I enable the tethering function on my phone the motorola usb networking driver changes to motorola usb RNDIS device and it shows not working (the motorola usb modem disappears from my device list) . my network notification shows I'm connected but internet explorer doesn't find any pages. my system is dell lattitude d600 running windows xp
Was anyone able to tether the Nokia E73 Mode? I keep getting messages that it could not connect to the device. I tried with all 3 different pieces of software - Ovi Suite, PC Suite 7.1 and Nokia PC Internet Access. I had no luck connecting with either of them. Anyone experienced the same issue? All three programs work fine, I am able to sync, browse, etc., but no internet connectivity. As if they have blocked/ deactivated the modem somehow because the error message says that it could not connect to the device, not the internet. Any ideas? Anyone found a solution for that problem? I even tried manual configuration of the modem and when I try to connect I get error message # 692 - there was a hardware failure in the modem. I doubt there is a failure in the modem. Most likely just turned off. I tried on both mine and my wife's phone, same result, so it is impossible or very unlikely both to have damaged modems. In the configuration screen when I try to Query Modem I get Modem Failed to respond, please make sure the modem is properly connected and turned on, which confirms my suspicion that they have disabled the modem somehow. Does anyone have an idea for the fix of this issue?
I have a Blackberry 8320 that I must use for corporate email and I have to use the UMA feature to get phone calls while at home. I also have a T-Mo Wing with WM6.5 that I'd like to tether to the Blackberry to use for personal email, gmaps, etc. How can I tether the Wing to the Blackberry's data plan? I've tried pairing them with Bluetooth and I can see on the Wing the Dial Up Networking service from the Blackberry. I've tried creating a new connection, choosing the Bluetooth connection, but haven't been able to get it to work.
I was looking for a decent, non-root way of tethering my Nexus One's 3G connection. I was going to get PDANET, but i noticed that it was removed from the marketplace. other than that, there are no other ways (that i have found) that i can successfully tether my Nexus One with my iPad. Im not too keen in rooting my Nexus One only because it will void my warranty, but also because i "wont be able to receive OTA updates." Anyone else find a good way to do this without rooting? I personally dont think its fair that my unlocked full priced Nexus One is unable to tether because T-Mobile pressured android into doing so.
I really want to ditch my iphone for a Captivate but i use the iphone for tethering occasionally. If i purchase a unlocked Captivate is there a way for me to get some kind of tethering ability?
I can't able to share my internet from mobile to PC using Tether. When I trying to do, in my device manager it shows a yellow question mark over the SE RNDIS internet sharing service.I'm using XP SP2 and the drivers downloaded from SE developers site .
Had my Desire for a while now, but just recently I have been working away from home and my laptop doesn't have wifi (I know, I should get a new laptop... but it works fine). I was wondering if I can use my desire a a usb wifi dongle?
My service provider does not like tethering, so I was wondering if when I share the desire's data connection it will use the phone's wifi rather than 3g connection? (obviously in an area where I have access to a wifi access point).
