Xperia X8 :: Broken Wifi After 2.1 Update?
Apr 7, 2011I recently update my X8 to 2.1-update 1 and have been seeing problems with connecting to wifi. I had no issues before with connecting to a network, but now have been seeing the message : Data Connectivity Proble: The server failed to communicate. Try again later. This happens even though the network is detected to having good signal, but I can't actually use it. I have already tried restoring under the backup and restore function, restoring my system settings, but this does not work. I have also tried to download settings for internet, but this doesn't work either. Or is there a way to restore my old settings so that my wifi will work normally?

Aug 14, 2015Got a fairly major issue with my Sony Experia Z3 (on Virgin mobile contract). Had an update and now wifi and bluetooth won't turn on. Turning on it just flicks back. It's not my home wifi, and is definitely a software issue on the phone, (was working all day, updated as soon as I connected to my home network when I got back in the evening). Have tried restarting, factory data reset and re-installing 3 times via PC Companion. Nothing works.

Jun 18, 2012I have recently upgraded my Xperia Pro to Android 4.0.4. Since then, I cannot connect to my home WiFi network. The phone cycles in Obtaining IP -> WPA2 -> Connected -> Obtaining IP..... Occasionally, the phone will connect but only after a few hours of cycling.
My wife's Xperia Pro is still using Android 2.3.4 and the WiFi connection works fine.
Two identical phones with different Android versions. It is likely that the upgrade to 4.0.4 is the root cause of the problem. This upgrade wasautomatically recommended by the phone.
I can temporarily work around this problem by changing the home AP security to open. But this is unacceptable. I read that many people have WiFi problems after upgrading to 4.0.4. Will you be posting a patch anytime soon?

Jan 28, 2012Since I updated to 2.3.3 late last year, I've not been able to get onto t'interweb. I can connect to wifi and to the network now, but pages won't load. I've downloaded an app to fix wifi but that hasn't sorted it either, and it doesn't matter which network I connect to.
I've tried static IP etc which gets me connected, but it doesn't get the pages loaded, and it worked before the update on all networks absolutely fine so it's not the routers that need sorting, it's the phone.
what else to try that preferably doesn't involve wiping the phone and starting again?

Nov 14, 2010I am having an issue where my phone connects fine to my home internet Via a new N-Router, then while using the phone and going through different apps like facebook or android market i get errors about unable to fetch updates or unable to update page.All the while the WiFi icon is still on in the status bar. It seems that when i turn off the WiFi then back on or power the phone off then back on it work again for a short while.

Jun 25, 2012Finally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..

Oct 22, 2012I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?

After an upgrade with Belle, it is impossible to get WiFi to work : Although the roaming finds my WLAN, and after introducing the exact WEP key, I allways get a WiFi not found error.
