Xperia Z3 :: How To Upgrade Micro-SD And Retain Data
Feb 17, 2014
I have bought a 128 GB SD-card to replace the existing 64 GB card. I have tried numerous times to "just" copy the info from the 64 GB card to the 128 GB card - and it always fails. For some reason, a lot of apps are not found anymore.
Have  also tried using the backup/restore on MAC (Sony Bridge) but that also fails...

When I bought my Xperia Neo, I received a free 8gb micro SD-card from class 2. I wanted a faster one and a bigger one to fullfill my new preferences. I bought a Transcend 16gb micro SD-card class 6.
1) Is this compatible with my Sony Ericsson smartphone?
2) How do I transfer all my data from my current SD-card to the new one without losing my installed apps, pictures and other stuff that's installed on.

I did an upgrade today, followed instructions, did backup with all boxs ticked, after upgrade completed I did the retore action etc. But I have not got all contacts saved and do not have any of the previously uploaded applications. I need them urgently, but no one available at erickson help line. Also vodaphone phone line and service office are not able to help me my service is with them. How do I get this critical info back, as I urgently need to contact several people in my contact list, but can't without their numbers that are saved into my phone or wherever they get saved when entered.Have also done previous backups, but none seem to restore this info.

I've been wondering about this. So, when I receive my new iPhone 4, I am assuming that it will have the new micro sim already installed in the phone. I won't just be able to pop my old regular sim into it. I'm thinking that I will go to iTunes to setup the new iPhone 4 and do all of the rate plan setup and somewhere along the way it will transfer my current phone number to my new iPhone 4's micro sim. Do you guys think this is the way it'll work?A drawback to this new micro sim thing is that I no longer will be able to swap the sim from my iPhone 4 to any old phone that i may wish to use for whatever reason. But I'm thinking that there will be adapters that will work just fine, so that won't really be a problem. Just throwing this out there.

My X10i battery is showing some weird problems, so before trying a new battery, i am wanting to reset the phone through SEUS.But here is another problem - due to some problem at the charging port in phone, my phone can only charge through charger via electric outlet, and no charging or data transfer possible any longer through the data cable via computer or laptop [this is confirmed by SE customer care; as per them, entire motherborad of the phone need to be changed to correct the problem, which is a very costly affair (a little over half of the current phone price) so i am avoiding that]. is there any other way to reset/update my phone - like through memory card or OTA - so that i can try to cross- check the battery problem? If yes, then how? Secondly, under these circumstances will i be able to upgrade the phone as an Android 2.3 upgrade is due on August?

Bold 9650 - Sprint
OS ver 5.0.0.699
I have been using my BB Bold for a little over a month now with the Sprint supplied 2GB MicroSD card installed. My encryption has been set to "OFF." I just received at my door a new TopRam 8GB Class 6 MicroSD card that I would like to swap into my 9650 in place of the OE provided 2GB card. Please, what is the procedure for swapping the cards, while retaining all my data and settings as I currently have them on the phone/card, with the new 8GB card? Is there a way to do this reliably without the use of the BB Desktop Manager Software by simply copying files to my PC off the 2GB card, then copying onto the 8GB card? -or am I better off doing it by backing up to my PC with the Desktop Manager Software, then restoring from the pc to the phone through USB cable? In either case, please give me a step-by-step. I don't want to screw this up or have partially copied data, or other hangups PS: Maybe I missed it, but I searched (read about 20 threads) & didn't find the answer there or in FAQ's - Thought for sure this would be an FAQ. If I missed it, well...sorry - please enlighten me.

So I do not have a data plan on my blackberry, so no email no web, I use it strictly for phone calls, text messaging and picture taking. I want to transfer my pictures and my sms text messages from my phone to my computer. I would also love to transfer my ringtones if possible but I will not push my luck on that one. I do not have a microsd card in my phone so everything is saved directly to the phone itself. I have tried hooking up my phone to my computer via usb but it does not allow me to go into the phone and copy things over to my computer. I have also downloaded and tried the blackberry desktop manager but it wants me to turn on mass media storage which is not going to help me because there is no microsd card in my phone. I want to save everything to my computer because I bought a new phone that is NOT a blackberry and I want to have my files saved on my computer.

I bought my new 5230 online from Vodafone a week ago. I wasn't aware there wouldn't be a data cable! Vodafone don't sell them online and as I haven't full mobility, it's hard for me to source one. My husband bought a micro usb data cable for me, but it was too big for my phone. There is no specific information about which data cable I need (is the a code for this cable?) in the handbook that came with the phone.

Guys i've recently switched from a Bold 9000 to the 9700 and as you know, the 9700 comes with Micro USB port so all the mini USB accessories i have don't fit anymore.i came across MANY mini-USB to micro-USB adapters, but most if not all of them state "charging adapter" also saw many threads here about people complaining how their adapter charges but doesn't sync has anyone found a mini-USB to micro-USB adapter that charges AND syncs? don't understand the limitation since both have 5 pins, i would assume a straight forward adapter should exist somewhere

On the Verizon website, they state a 16gb max micro SD card for the incredible. On the HTC site, they state 32gb max.I purchased a 32gb card only to have the HTC Incredible take forever to load things (music) to the card. When there, it stores the dir structure, but erases the contents of some of the content.I also notice that the LOST.DIR gets full of files with numbers for filenames and no extensions.I've also experienced that the card gets completely wiped by the phone.I've re-formatted the drive numerous times, both in the phone an dexternal. Each time the formatting states all good.Load everything back onto the card, rebooted device, empty card again.left phone running, reloaded card externally and inserted the card. it only finds a few music items in the "music" directory and again cleans out some others.
Done a phone diagnostic, checked that the phone does see all 32 gb, everything looks good.I posted a message to the HTC customer support and so far been ignored. Is there anyone else having this sort of problem ?

Alright, first of all I know everyone is getting sick and tired of the iphone related threads popping up over here. But I have no other choice but to start one — hoping someone will be able to offer me a solution to my problem.
Here's the deal. My wife has the unlimited data plan, since she signed up with Att last year. Currently she has a iPhone 3GS and sees no need to upgrade to the new version.
I on the other hand had been using a paygo T-mobile plan (had been waiting for the iPhone).
Now the thing is she doesn't really use her data and I most definitely could with my shiny new phone (hopefully arriving on June 24th), but am unable to as I don't already have a contract with them.
I know people would suggest to switch the sims when I get the phone, but that's a no-go as the Misses is very attached to her number and does not want to change it (under no condition whatsoever)
So what I need all you guys to tell me is a way to get her number switched over to my contract so I can give her my sim (I'm aware of the sim differences in the two phones and will sort that out.
So any clue how to do this?
I was thinking of porting over her number to a different carrier and then porting it back to a new line on att (though this would mean I lose my preorder).
Though I don't know if I can port over her current ATT number and still maintain the contract. Does ATT allow that. And how difficult do you guys think it would be to port it back to a new connection on ATT.
Also, her number is originally from Wisconsin and now we live in Chicago.
Is there an easier solution?
Why can't ATT just switch the numbers on the contracts?

I used to have multiple iTunes libraries that I eventually condensed into one, and I somehow cross-synced my iPhone and now it won't sync with any of them. (I get the "this iPhone is synced to another library, would you like to erare the contents and sync with this library" message.) I've tried the trick of copy/pasting the Persistent Library ID, but that doesn't seem to work (unless I'm doing it wrong). I'm A-OK with wiping all the music from the iPhone and loading it all again (if anything I'd prefer to do that now that I've unified my music libraries into one) and all of my contact and calendar items are properly synced with my main laptop. What I'm worried about are the other things on the iPhone (apps, photos, notes, recorded memos, etc.). Especially the apps. If I let iTunes wipe the phone to sync with my new library, will I retain those other items? Or will it wipe everything and I'll lose any apps that I've bought, photos stored on the phone, notes, etc.?

I have run a variety of custom roms on both phones. One of my favorites was the aosp version 2.2.1 from Wolfbreak, that allowed applications like Abobe Flashplayer 10.3 which is a large application >10 MB; to be moved to the SD card. Now what happened to this very effective button that is now shaded out in the new 2.3.3 firmware? I'm not seeing the "move to SD card" button lit up in any of the custom roms for 2.3. either. Only a few apps I was able to move to the SD, most of them cannot be moved anymore. I think that it is important for the xperia x10, which does not have the amount of on board ram than some of it's cousins like the samsung captivate for example, where the need to run apps from the SD card is basically built in with 16 GB thumb drive that's buried, and an additional expandable memory slot for users to install any size up to 32 GB micro sdhc chip, which brings up my second half of a question, I tried a couple different brands/rw speed class micro sd chips in my xperia(s) and so far I can't find a 32 GB size that either xperia will reconize. I haven't tried a class 2 yet, maybe that's the problem. In any case I noted the x10 can't handle anything larger than 16 GB. If there is a 32 GB (the white pages say it handles 32 but doesn't show anything else) that works, I'd like to here from any user who has had such success, what brand, class/speed they have found that works.

The micro usb charging connection has broken on my phone. Part of the board that the charger connects to has snapped off, (the V+ pin used for charging).
I have taken the phone apart and can see the micro usb connection that needs to be replaced but can't seem to find an exact replacement anywhere. I orderd these from Wurth [URL] and am waiting for them to come.
Also has anybody ever changed this component that can tell me the best way to do it (i.e. use a heat gun to take off old one) or point me in the right direction off some instructions (you tube video perhaps).
