I have just upgraded my brand new X8 to 2.1 which was sucessful but when I turn the phone back on it is saying 'sim card locked'. I can use the sim card in another phone!
View 1 RepliesAfter I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 4.2 I can not activate iPhone.It is written " The simcard inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible simcards from supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone.Please insert the simcard that came with your iPhone or visit a suppported carrier's store to receive a replacement simcard". Before upgrade I can use the simcard.

Try the remote lock message (message you sent in the SMS to lock the phone remotely) as the memory card unlock password.I upgraded my phone from v210.21.006 to v500.21.009 today. Took all the usual precautions like removing remote lock (didn't reset the custom lock code to default) backup content to PC & memory card, then removed the card from the phone before upgrade. Then after upgrade and restoring settings inserted the card & was prompted for a password. Tried lock code/default lock code before and various other passwords before figuring out it might be the message text for the remote lock.

After the update the phone is showing invalid sim(bsnl).It is working with other bsnl network sim cards.When i approached sony people ,told me that they cannot give warranty as the phone is valid to use in saudi arabia & not in india.Now if i root it & downgrade to GB will i able to use the same sim.I don't want to use new sim with same number as the old one having lot of money.

But as luck would have it i made it so complicated i forgot what i changed it to. My IT dept unlocked the devise the following day BUT the MEDIA CARD is asking me for the password to access my pictures. I was updating and installing to iOS4 when my iphone 3G suddenly says it can't read my SIM card and was locked. On my iTunes screen I was told I needed to insert a SIM card in order to continue with the installation of the iOS4. I used my friend's SIM card and my iphone was able to detect it however my itunes would only allow me to the option to restore my iphone which I did and now all my camera roll, notes, contacts and sms are gone and the backups in my iTunes are all post-iPhone-crash.

i want to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS. i'm on 4.0 and i want to upgrade to 4.0.1 before jailbreaking. the iPhone is being used as an iPod touch and therefore has no SIM card - if i update to 4.0.1, will it need to activate the iPhone with a SIM card after? or can i just update without worrying about having a SIM?
