i want to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS. i'm on 4.0 and i want to upgrade to 4.0.1 before jailbreaking. the iPhone is being used as an iPod touch and therefore has no SIM card - if i update to 4.0.1, will it need to activate the iPhone with a SIM card after? or can i just update without worrying about having a SIM?
After I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 4.2 I can not activate iPhone. It is written " The simcard inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible simcards from supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the simcard that came with your iPhone or visit a suppported carrier's store to receive a replacement simcard". Before upgrade I can use the simcard.
After upgrading the IOS version to 5.1.1 into my iPhone 4 I started receiving the message "No SIM Card Installed" constantly. I reset the phone and worked for a while, but then the message poped up again. Even the Airplane Mode "on/off" solved temporarily the problem but as the same as above, the message poped up again. I went to the local carrier store here (in Brazil) and the attendant told me this new version was not compatible with iPhone 4, only the 4S version. Anyway, I'm trying to restore the old version but when attempting to update, it goes straight to the 5.1.1 version. Is there any way to update until the 5.0.X instead?
I recently unlocked my iphone from AT&T and itunes upgraded to latest software. Now my iphone does not recognize AT&T sim. Does anyone know how to fix it. Pls help as I have an officially unlocked iphone(after much wait ) and now can't use any other sim. Why it's always with iphones...
I just got myself a E52, was very surprised to see a 1GB Card in such a great phone. (Is this 2005? 1 GB Card)Anyways, here is my main question. I want to change this card to 8GB.I already have got the 8GB MicroSDHC card, but not sure how this will work. There is Maps Data about 500 MB, and other files.if i simply copy the contents of one card to other will it work?
right after i upgraded to ICS, i tried to connect the phone to pc via usb and in my computer i my ray as a portable device but when i try to explore it, it shows nothing. not a folde was shown..
I have just bough a Lexar 32GB class 10 Micro SD card that I am trying to use to replace the current 8GB class 4 card in my Nokia E72. I am trying to copy the data that is on the old card over to the new card. I have used the Nokia suite to make a backup and then resort that back up to the new card but then some of my apps are not there. I have also tried to copy the conents of the old card to the my computer using a card reader and then copy this to the new card (inclusing all hidden files, using Windows Explorer). This gets me more apps back but not everything. So, what is the best way to upgrade the memory card an keep all the data?
Bold 9650 - Sprint OS ver 5.0.0.699 I have been using my BB Bold for a little over a month now with the Sprint supplied 2GB MicroSD card installed. My encryption has been set to "OFF." I just received at my door a new TopRam 8GB Class 6 MicroSD card that I would like to swap into my 9650 in place of the OE provided 2GB card. Please, what is the procedure for swapping the cards, while retaining all my data and settings as I currently have them on the phone/card, with the new 8GB card? Is there a way to do this reliably without the use of the BB Desktop Manager Software by simply copying files to my PC off the 2GB card, then copying onto the 8GB card? -or am I better off doing it by backing up to my PC with the Desktop Manager Software, then restoring from the pc to the phone through USB cable? In either case, please give me a step-by-step. I don't want to screw this up or have partially copied data, or other hangups PS: Maybe I missed it, but I searched (read about 20 threads) & didn't find the answer there or in FAQ's - Thought for sure this would be an FAQ. If I missed it, well...sorry - please enlighten me.
I have just upgraded my brand new X8 to 2.1 which was sucessful but when I turn the phone back on it is saying 'sim card locked'. I can use the sim card in another phone!
I have upgraded my Xperia X10 using the SEUS.The upgrade went smoothly but when my phone booted up, it could no longer read the SD card! This is not acceptable
I did Gingerbread update this morning, Now my phone doesnt pick up my memory card, and I also cant mount my phone to the computer, I insert the cable and then get the option to connect the phone, but nothing happeneds . The worst is that my memory card is not picked up.
What's the better way of moving several GB worth of data from a smaller to a larger microSDHC card? 1. Can I simply copy the data on the old/smaller card to my PC (using USB mode) and then install the new/larger memory card in my phone and copy it back? This, to me, seems to be the swiftest route to take. 2. Or, is it better to backup the old/small card using PC Suite and then restore to the new/large card? If so, why? Based on prior experience with this method I'm not sure all data is moved... 3. Or, it doesn't matter? Thanks.
I am considering stepping up to Kingston SDC10/16GB-2ADP, a class 10 card. The questions are: 1) is it compatible 2) would I get any performance gain compared to Transcend TS16GUSDHC6-P3? As far as I'm concerned, SDHC cards with speed classes 2 to 6 are SD version 2.0, whereas class 10 cards as well as new SDXC ones are SD version 3.0, hence potential compatibility issues.
Not sure how to go about fixing this, but ALL the apps I had "moved to SD Card" are now toast.
App manager lists the entries as filenames, the icons are semitransparent generic android icons, it tries but fails to load the apps and google play says its not installed.
The data is all on the SD card so i'd like them all back, it seems the OS (when it updated) simply forgot them when it optimized my apps for lollipop.
I HAVE to move apps to the SD card cuz these phones come with next to no built in storage. What a screwup.
I manually updated google play services and restarted the phone four times. I had to uninstall a chat app and it took fifteen minutes. After that fourth restart, all my apps appear to have been reinstated.
I just got my Xoom WiFi back from Motorola repair - it somehow had a latin american ROM on it and wasn't receiving the ICS upgrade. Well now it has ICS and, for the most part, everything is fine. I am having problems with the SD card though. This is an SD card I used when I had Honeycomb on the unit. I was able to write to it just fine back then.
I took it out before sending the unit in for repair, and I put if back after receiving the unit back. After reinsertion, I can see/read all of the files that I had on there from before, but I cannot write/edit/delete anything on it, and when I look at it in a file manager, it shows up as read only. I removed the card, put in in my PC (with an adaptor) and reformatted it, still read-only.
While it was still in the Xoom, I connected to my PC and was able to access and even write to the card from my PC. But I still cannot do anything that attempts to write to the device from Android. I think the ability to write to the card from the PC indicates that there is not an issue with the card. I think the issue is how it's mounted. But I cannot find a way to mount it as writable unless I root my Xoom (which I'd rather not do).
I got the 3.2 upgrade for my 3G Xoom a week or so ago; I understood that when the upgrade came, it would work with SD cards just like the WiFI-only Xoom upgrade. Today I stuck a SanDisk micro SD into the slot, and I got an option in "Settings" to mount the SD, but it won't mount. Neither will computer (Vista OS) recognize an SD, nor will it create a Xoom Media section in computer file explorer when Xoom is connected by USB as the Motorola help site describes; all I get is the original Xoom folder that I had pre-3.2.
Just as the title says. I sent my Xoom in for the 4G upgrade and when i got it back, my 32gb SD card was gone and i have this crap 8gb instead... [removed]

I have a motorola DEFY that came with a built in 2GB micro SD card.I now feel the need to upgrade memory to a 16GB card. While doing this How do I ensure the transfer all applications from android market (paid and free) to the new memory card?
Below is a relisting of a current problem I have not managed to fix.I have the latest firmware installed on my N97, but after the latest upgrade (clean install was done, mass mem refromatted, hard reset, etc') On checking over the phone I started getting messages that the Mass mem' was full (Not so) I eventually traced it to my 8 gig mem' card, (is coming up with the message that the memory card is corrupt, I have now tried 3 different mem' cards) cos after this was removed the phone worked perfectly again, I tried reformatting the card via the pc , same problem when the card was put back in, tried a brand new card , same problem, lastly tried a known working 4 gig mem' card, same problem?
I want to buy a larger MicroSD card, 16 Gb, however I fear that all my installed software will become invalid even if I copy everything from the existing card to the new one. How can I upgrade my card smoothly? Will the MicroSD (HD!) 16Gb actually work on my Sony XPeria Pro?
Try the remote lock message (message you sent in the SMS to lock the phone remotely) as the memory card unlock password.I upgraded my phone from v210.21.006 to v500.21.009 today. Took all the usual precautions like removing remote lock (didn't reset the custom lock code to default) backup content to PC & memory card, then removed the card from the phone before upgrade. Then after upgrade and restoring settings inserted the card & was prompted for a password. Tried lock code/default lock code before and various other passwords before figuring out it might be the message text for the remote lock.
I have Phone A which I was told to upgrade to resolve an issue. Before upgrading, I used manage messages to copy messages by a specific contact to my memory card. After backing up, I checked the memory card tab to see that those messages had been transferred they had. I removed the memory card so the upgrade won't accidently delete stuff on there from Phone A and continued with the upgrade. After the upgrade, I put the memory card back in and went to manage messages to restore them nothing showed.
I was on the phone to sony ericsson for half hour and they couldn't figure out why they were not showing, saying I had not backed them up, but I know I had. I have another phone which is the same as Phone A. I inserted the memory card into Phone B, went to manage messages. It showed messages on the card, but those that I must have backed up a few months ago rather than those I backed up today which didn't show in Phone A
It seems it only reads SMS's on the card dependant on the firmware version. How can I retrieve the messages I backed up today? I've been told I can't rollback the firmware version and even if I did, I didn't note down what it was. Those messages were REALLY importants and I would very much like to get them back.
Does anyone have some advice about deleting unnecessary files and folders left on the SD card after GB to ICS upgrade? There are files and folders dating back to 1979 - which sounds ridiculous, of course, but they may be current.
After attempting to upgrade software for my iphone 4s via itunes, the upgrade failed and my phone froze with a picture of an usb plug.I even uninstalled security on my computer.
Can I use someone else's upgrade? Yes, this is called an "upgrade swap". AT&T will allow you to upgrade any line to receive a new phone. You can then activate that phone on any phone line you like. Apple is able to do this in store also, but it requires a bit more time since they have to call AT&T first. If you pre-order and recieve the phone by mail, you will need to contact AT&T to let them know that you will be activating the phone on another line."
My current situation: I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?
I have a message in my settings telling me that i can upgrade my IOS, but i don't want to upgrade at this time. How can i get rid of the red message mark?
