IPhone :: After Attempting To Upgrade Software For 4s Via ITunes, The Upgrade Failed?
May 17, 2012
After attempting to upgrade software for my iphone 4s via itunes, the upgrade failed and my phone froze with a picture of an usb plug.I even uninstalled security on my computer.
I was trying to sync my iPhone 3GS when I was prompted to upgrade it. I went ahead and clicked yes to upgrade it. I left the computer and whe I returned about an hour later it asked me to enter my passcode so I did. Then it did its thing for about 30 minutes before telling me there was an unkwown error while upgrading it. During that time the screen on the iphone switched to the image of the usb cord with an arrow poining at the iTunes logo. I restarted my computer and disconnected and reconnected my iphone and now iTunes won't even read it and my iPhone won't do anything other than display that same image of the usb cord and iTunes logo. I'm totally frustrated here. Help! I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, iTunes version 10.6.1.7. I know the cable is fine because it reads my iPhone 4S just fine. I tried restarting and relaunching iTunes and I've also tried holding the power button and home button down for 10 seconds and nothing on the phone's end.
This morning I tried to perform the required update of my iPhone 4S to iOs 5.1. Update failed. Phone is locked up with connection to itunes symbol showing. iTunes does not recognize the phone.
I'm using version 4.3.5 on my iPhone 4, each time when I connect my iPhone 4 with iTunes, I was informed that IOS 5.0.1 is ready for my upgrate. I couldn't finish the updating for each time I download to around 2xxMB, the connection stop.
I have iphone4s with iOS5.1, tried to upgrade to 8.1 but forgot to take a backup. Upgrade failed and ask to do a factory resotre and the iphone only shows "connect to iTunes icon"!. How to take a backup in this case or cancel the upgrade. Â It is very important to backup contacts, msgs and notes.Â
I have been trying to update to ICS using PCC for the last two days ......After the second step ..i.e preparing for update ..it says Update failed . And if i reconnect it says server problems so try again later
So i tried to upgrade my phone today, it failed several times and now i can't turn it on at all. All that comes up is a picture of a triangle with a ! in it.
After many attempts backing up, I have finally done so......But when PC companion is 'preparing' to update..it doesn't. It says Installation Error...'unable to install or start phone software update componnets'. 'the update of software failed'. I have tried again
I'm having installation problem with my Xperia X8. I can't upgrade my phone software to Android 2.1 version. I have done the back up things but I can't even move on to the second step. It'll appears to me "unable to install or start phone software update components.

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8330,& I can't upgrade my BBM I keep getting the same error, says download failed, 903 loss of service HTTP error 400: Bad Request.?I assume the site it's trying to download from isn't the right one?I can't download it from the internet because my data plan only includes email.
Can I use someone else's upgrade? Yes, this is called an "upgrade swap". AT&T will allow you to upgrade any line to receive a new phone. You can then activate that phone on any phone line you like. Apple is able to do this in store also, but it requires a bit more time since they have to call AT&T first. If you pre-order and recieve the phone by mail, you will need to contact AT&T to let them know that you will be activating the phone on another line."
My current situation: I am on a family plan with a total of two lines. My line is not eligible until 7/23, so all I can get is "early upgrade pricing". My mom's line is currently eligible for "full upgrade pricing". I am planning on using my mom's upgrade to get an iPhone 4. I want to preorder the phone from Apple.com on the 15th, and hopefully receive it the afternoon of the 24th. From my understanding, the microSIM that ships with the phone will be programmed for the line whose upgrade was used. However, the iPhone Upgrade Guide makes it sound like I can call AT&T once I receive the phone (and before I activate it), and have AT&T switch the microSIM from my mom's line to mine. Is this possible?
I have apps that have updates and some are too large to update on my iPhone. I plugged my iPhone into iTunes and pulled up the apps that are installed but I can not find where I can start the updates. It looks like it does not automatically identify which apps have updates.
My 8520 has some serious problems right now. I tried to do a software upgrade but it failed at JVM connection. Now my device wont connect to my pc at all (doesn't pick up the device whatsoever), and the phone wont boot up, The only activity I get out of it is the LED flashing red once and then four times quickly.
I'm running 3.0.1 on a 3GS and never upgraded to iTunes 9 because I wasn't sure if it was safe w/ my phone being jailbroken. Since then, I haven't thought about it, but was wondering if it is safe to up iTunes 9 from 8.
So I have been looking forward to the new iPhone OS. Now it is out I want to update my 3GS, iTunes says there is a new version of iPhone software, click update to get it. But when I click it, it says "iTunes is upto date" WTF? iTunes seems be confused itself with iPhone. I tried to search to see anybody posted the same problem, could not find it. I have iTunes 9.1.1 (T2) on my MacBook pro. Anybody know how to fix this?
It keeps asking me to update to iTunes version 10.5, I did so for my computer as well as the iPhone. But after that, when I plugged in the iPhone to the computer, it asked the same question again.
I have a message in my settings telling me that i can upgrade my IOS, but i don't want to upgrade at this time. How can i get rid of the red message mark?
I cannot begin to tell you the frustrating experience I have had trying to load Ovi Maps 3.03 onto my N97. Suffice it to say that every step of the way has been a painful experience that has seriously threatened my loyalty to a brand that I have always been loyal to. I'm still not there yet. Having followed instructions and loaded the latest version of firmware (20.0.019) via my PC, the automatic loading software then loaded version 3.01 of Ovi Maps (WHY wasn't 3.03 loaded? - it's the latest version!). I proceeded to the Software Updater app on my PC to upload the latest version (3.03). It did recognize the latest version and proceeded to download the software to my PC for installation onto my phone. During the upgrade to my phone, the installation failed and a message appeared "Installation failed 6:19".
I tried to install again, but using the updater app on my PC, it doesn't recognize the need for an upgrade to 3.03 (does it think the upgrade has worked?). Back to my phone to try using the software updater app installed there. It does recognize the fact that a later version of Ovi Maps is available and allows me to try and install it, and a message appears "Installing Ovi Maps with free navigation (1 of 1)", however seconds later another message appears "Result: 1 update failed View update history". Clicking on the View bit helpfully takes me to the log, which unhelpfully shows the message "Ovi Maps with free navigation Installation failed at 6:25" and NO OTHER information about why the installation failed or what to do to recover it. So now I am stuck with an updater on the PC which doesn't recognize the need to do an update and an updater on the phone, which does recognize the need, but fails EVERY time.
I have a jailbroken iPhone 3GS. Is it safe to upgrade to the newest iTunes that's just been released? I tried searching but didn't find anything relevant.
i'm in the middle up doing the iOS upgrade on my 3GS and iTunes is "not responding!what do i do?? i know if i disconnect i'm going to get a non-responsive iphone... what exactly.... step by step... so i have to do to get my iphone back?
So, the mobileme deadliner is approaching and I need to upgrade my 3GS to iOS 5 and my imac to LION. I've sorted out the iweb histing via another server (phew) and have tried to upgrade to iOS 5 via itunes (10.6.1) but the message I get is that my iphone software is 4.2.1 and is the current version.
When upgrading my Nokia E7 from symbian anna to symbian belle, the phone switched off and on restarting, it display a text: "phone startup failed, contact retailer."
Yesterday I decided to sync my iPhone to a different PC which my husband uses to sync his ipod. Before I sync-ed I upgraded itunes to v10. When I tried to sync however I noticed that the contacts section in the Info tab had nothing in the list (i.e. The title reads "Sync Contacts with " followed by a list but the list is empty) and when I click the Configure button nothing happens. Anyway I checked the option to sync contacts anyway but got an error saying "itunes was unable to load dataclass information from sync services."
Stupidly I then chose to restore my iphone as suggested in the Summary tab and thereby lost all of the contacts on my phone which I of course cannot sync back.
I am trying to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. As my MacPro is still running Snow Leopard, I decided NOT to sync with iCloud but rather with iTunes. Every time I connect the iPhone, iTunes tells me the restore has been interrupted and offers to resume backup. When I do, it starts restoring, restarts the iPhone and then I get same message.... over and over again.
