IPhone :: After Upgrade To IOS 4.2 3g Is Locked And Can't Activate Sim-card?
Apr 28, 2012
After I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 4.2 I can not activate iPhone. It is written " The simcard inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.Only compatible simcards from supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the simcard that came with your iPhone or visit a suppported carrier's store to receive a replacement simcard". Before upgrade I can use the simcard.
I have just upgraded my brand new X8 to 2.1 which was sucessful but when I turn the phone back on it is saying 'sim card locked'. I can use the sim card in another phone!
Try the remote lock message (message you sent in the SMS to lock the phone remotely) as the memory card unlock password.I upgraded my phone from v210.21.006 to v500.21.009 today. Took all the usual precautions like removing remote lock (didn't reset the custom lock code to default) backup content to PC & memory card, then removed the card from the phone before upgrade. Then after upgrade and restoring settings inserted the card & was prompted for a password. Tried lock code/default lock code before and various other passwords before figuring out it might be the message text for the remote lock.
I cant activate my iphone 5c because it has been locked with a different apple id. i dont know the original owner. Its a second-hand phone that i bought some months back ...
i've been dealing with this for days now. i hae initially upgrade the iphone 3gs to ios 5.1 then it can't be activated as per device. what is happening?
I won't bother repeating the problems so many are having after their iPhones and iPads automatically upgraded to 5.1, then could not get past the failed wireless activation attempts. Here is what I did and it worked. This was after two day of trying far more complicated solutions that did not work.
I plugged my iPhone into my Mac and launched iTunes. I logged onto iCloud.com, within Safari, and selected Find My iPhone. When it showed the location of my phone, I clicked on the blue arrow and chose Remote Wipe. When that was done and the phone restarted, I clicked option-click-restore and located the 5.1 .ipsw file and restored the phone. I probably could have selected just the restore button, but then I'd have to run through all the upgrading. I was then able to restore from my most recent backup and it worked!
If this sounds odd, just remember the one step that gets you back in control, so that you can use iTunes to fix the phone, is to do a Remote Wipe from withing Find My iPhone.
i had the service with atta while ago, however, i never upgraded it to the new software bec ,i still use like i pod,now whenever iwant todownload sth. it tells you need to update your version of software, however, im scared if ido my i phone would be locked i guess my question now is it ok to update without fear that my i phone get locked ?

I paid $500 dollars for this phone 3 years ago. Two years ago, I cancelled my service with AT&T because they were too expensive. I've been using my iPhone 3Gs as my MP3 player for those two years - never with any problems. Tonight, I plugged my iPhone into iTunes for the first time in a long time, downloaded the new software update, and now am unable to "activate" my iPhone. I don't want to activate my iPhone. I want to use it as an iPod like I have been. I paid $500 dollars for this thing. I'm not signing up for another contract. How do I get my iPod back?!
I live in Spain and I bought an iPhone 4S in a Spanish Vodafone Store, along with a pay as you go sim. I have come back to England for a break and just bought a Vodafone pay as you go sim card to use when I'm in the UK so I don't get charged "roaming" fees. However, the phone says the sim is not valid and says I need to enter the sim card I got with the handset.
It doesn't seem to make sense to me as I haven't tried to insert a different network provider's sim card, and even now my Spanish sim card is using "Vodafone UK" network, so I know they are linked.
I have a used sim card that i need to use on my iphone 4. When i try to activate my phone, it wants my apple id i used to activate the orignial phone. I don't remember it though. How do you know what apple id you used.
i was given an iphone 4s with IOS 7.1.2 on it and there is no sim card and i don't have one and i was just wondering if i can still activate it without a sim card?
I'm the lucky man who found a lost iphone. I managed to recharge the battery with my ipod wire, and now I'm trying to use it. The phone is, right now, like an ipod but it seems to don't recognize my sim card. I checked the firmware version, is 3.1.3 (7E18).The operator is "Orange switzerland 5.2" First of all, is any sim card good for an iphone? And if so, what should i do to make the phone work with mine?
l'm in senegal ,my iphone 4s 5.1 is on sprint, now l want to use it with a local sim card but it alltime say that the iphone is not actived, please help me to unlock it
