IPhone :: Activate IP - Do Not Recognize Sim Card?
Jul 16, 2010
I'm the lucky man who found a lost iphone. I managed to recharge the battery with my ipod wire, and now I'm trying to use it. The phone is, right now, like an ipod but it seems to don't recognize my sim card. I checked the firmware version, is 3.1.3 (7E18).The operator is "Orange switzerland 5.2" First of all, is any sim card good for an iphone? And if so, what should i do to make the phone work with mine?
I've recently purchased a 2nd hand Iphone 3gs from a friend of mine, Its been unlocked, I have a Sim in the phone, I've tried to activate the it but Itunes s telling me:
"There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate"
I received an iphone 4 as a gift from somebody who bought in USA from AT&T. Today I tried to update my software to iOS 5.1 using a macbook pro and itunes. It worked untill the point when itunes restarted my iphone and then it gave me a message about not recognizing my sim card.
I am currently living in Romania and I am using a prepay Vodafone Sim.
I contacted the apple authorised service in Bucharest and they told me that there is nothing they can do, that the problem is not sovable and I can use my iphone only in USA. They told me it was coded in AT&T network and it can't be unblocked or something like that...
Now I find it hard to believe that a company such as apple can't solve this problem... after all it's not my fault that I am not an iphone expert and didn't know better than to update my iOS.
I paid $500 dollars for this phone 3 years ago. Two years ago, I cancelled my service with AT&T because they were too expensive. I've been using my iPhone 3Gs as my MP3 player for those two years - never with any problems. Tonight, I plugged my iPhone into iTunes for the first time in a long time, downloaded the new software update, and now am unable to "activate" my iPhone. I don't want to activate my iPhone. I want to use it as an iPod like I have been. I paid $500 dollars for this thing. I'm not signing up for another contract. How do I get my iPod back?!
I live in Spain and I bought an iPhone 4S in a Spanish Vodafone Store, along with a pay as you go sim. I have come back to England for a break and just bought a Vodafone pay as you go sim card to use when I'm in the UK so I don't get charged "roaming" fees. However, the phone says the sim is not valid and says I need to enter the sim card I got with the handset.
It doesn't seem to make sense to me as I haven't tried to insert a different network provider's sim card, and even now my Spanish sim card is using "Vodafone UK" network, so I know they are linked.
I have a used sim card that i need to use on my iphone 4. When i try to activate my phone, it wants my apple id i used to activate the orignial phone. I don't remember it though. How do you know what apple id you used.
i was given an iphone 4s with IOS 7.1.2 on it and there is no sim card and i don't have one and i was just wondering if i can still activate it without a sim card?
Just updated my iphone 4S and now it doesn't recognize my SIM card.It was bought at Applestore - Madrid and it accepts(ed) any SIM card...I've pulled it out, on-off, sincronized it, reset.
Why won't my iPhone 4 recognize my sim card after update? I updated my iPhone 4 over wifi and it went through the process fine, until it switched back on and now refusese to recognize my sim card!
l'm in senegal ,my iphone 4s 5.1 is on sprint, now l want to use it with a local sim card but it alltime say that the iphone is not actived, please help me to unlock it
Im planing to buy a factory unlocked iphone 4s and use it as a ipod. so im not going to put a sim card in it. I have a micro sim card that 1 years old so basicly its inactive. Is it posible to activate it with this 1 year old sim card ?
So just bought a secondhand iphone 4s and I bought it through paypal but I need to activate it through my carrier. Thing is I put a new sim card in it and it wont activate. ITunes even says that I cant activate it through that. I need it asap my old phone is dying. also I have emailed the seller about this.
I just bought 2 iPhone 4S in Boston, as factory unlocked. When trying to activate them they don't recognize the SIM cards. I even tried the SIM that I'm using in my 4S, but these two look like they are locked. The receipt states ,,Unlocked". can they be locked and marked wrong? Can Apple support ,,unlock" them online if they turn out to be locked?
