i am using a nordic unbranded x10i... just downloaded the update service... the update service said i have a software update and is downloading a 140.9 mb file.... is this gingerbread...? is the gingerbread update 140.9mb...?
View 3 RepliesI received a notification on my xperia x10 to update new software so I updated the sony ericsson PC companion first (as that needed updating). I backed up my files using My Backup Pro and then I followed the update procedure.
1 Start - Took about 25 minutes to download the update files
2. Prepare - I followed through this procedure so many times but nothing is happening unlike the previous updates i've done. ( Disconnect USB from phone and PC, more than 50% charge (Mine was 96%), turn phone off and wait 5 secs, connect the usb cable to PC, then while holding the back button connect the usb to the phone.......but nothing happens afterwards (unlike with previous updates). Only the phones lights turn on with the SE logo and then the battery sign just appears.
the Gingerbread update slows down the X10... Mine was ok on the 2.1 after the update the phone is soo slow.it sometimes becomes unsuable then i have to take the battery out and reboot..even the Task Kill App (Advanced task Killer) from the Android Market doesnt make any dfference....When I kill the apps it usually says i have 51MB memory avilable... just dont know where the rest has gone.. on the 2.1 if I killed all the apps i usually would get around 128MB memory...It hangs and the response is very very slow ever since i upgraded....The only positve side to the Gingerbread update I can see is the Flash Player and thas about it...
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got my x10i from a friend who had never updated it from the original 1.6 android version that it came with, so i have updated to the recent gingerbread update. The problem is that since the update, the buil in camera app will open, but as soon as i press the shutter button (or use the touch function) to take a picture it hangs and won't do anything until i exit. All the while it is hanging it is actively displaying whatever i point it at, but it won't take a picture. The annoying thing is that other camera apps such as camera360 work fine and will take photos, but i want to be able to use the face recognition and video functionality of the built in app.

Ever since i did the update i get no notification whatsoever when I get a text message. Nothing in the bar at the top of the screen, no noise no vibration. Nothing.
The only time the phone acknowledges a new etxt at all is when I actively go into the Messaging app. Once I am in I then get the icon at the top of the screen but still no notification sound. I have looked at all the settings I can find and have also done a repair, again through PC Companion. Nothing has helped.
NOTE: Ringtone for incoming calls is fine. And I also get notifications as normal for messages coming through Talk. I also get no notification when I plug my phone into the PC like I did before.
I have updated to gingerbread and like so many others, my media player stuttering. So I came online & have seen many fixes, and I have tried pretty much all of them, they include: Repairing, re-installing software, trying a new media player including Winamp, clearing data in media storage, deleting the .nomedia files, and taking my wanted media (pic's & music etc) of the memory card & reformatting and pretty much anything else I've heard & the media player (and all other media players) still are useless.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the new Media Player that was installed during the recent update of the phone. I have about 1500 music files on SD card, yet the player is only displaying 182 of them on the 'All Songs' playlist. Same goes for other playlists ('Album', 'Artist' etc.) The files could be read no problem with Mediascape. It's really annoying as the Android Market music player I use bases its playlists on the SE software (PowerAMP), therefore it is not adding any more songs than 182 of the Media Player playlist.
I've done the following so far:
- reinstall the update of phone software
- restart the phone
- unmount and remount SD card
- refreshed the playlists in SE Media Player and in PowerAMP
- randomly checked the music files for corrupted ones - none of them is damaged or removed; the folders are in the same place where they were before the update and I can play them on PowerAMP if accessed via ASTRO file manager, yet they still do not appear in SE Media Player.
what can be done to remedy the problem are more than welcome. I am extremely unhappy about it as it just tops the pile of problems I had since the Gingerbread update, including the struggle to retrieve my data backup file.
I was received a pic from a friend via Whatsapp and shortly after that,I can't open both my Whatsapp and album.I suspect the file containing virus and I scan my phone with pre-installed AVG Antivirus.But,it shows my phone is free from harmful file.I successfully removed the pic via Photo app and then I realise my battery life is draining too fast than before.

My only resolution has been to power down/up the phone. I tried forcing the phone in/out of Airplane mode in hopes that that action would force a start of the 3G stuffs but no luck.
View 15 Replies View RelatedFinally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..
I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?

I have tried almost everything. I deleted the file in the Update Service folder, re-downloaded, and reinstalled so many times, tried setting the PCC to check for updates every time phone is plugged in(which it said on the SE website, but isn't an option at all. Could anyone perhaps shed some light. I am getting pretty frustrated with all this nonsense.

I just finish update service and i did not to any backup, so i need to do all setup again. But i can't sync, can't go to gmail, can't go to facebook. Is this a problem with optus connection or i did not set up correctly?

It seems the delay is also not due to the Telcos, according to SE Singapore.

I simply connect the USB to computer and phone, Click Start in PC Companion (in File Manager). I drag and drop my pictures from 'My pictures' to 'images' and the pictures does appear in the folder of 'image' but once I disconnect the USB so I can access the photos in the phone, it's nowhere to be found. I'm not sure what's wrong with the card or the phone, I've tried deleting pictures from the folder ('image') that I open in the computer but once I disconnect to check if the images I deleted are gone, they are still there. It's like the SD card is not even connected or being read by my phone? The weird part is that it use to work before I updated the phone to 4.0.4. The file sizes and formats are identical... Music and other files don't show in the phone at all either.
