having trouble restoring after the update?! I've had enough of this phone today then I update and find I can't restore most my things mainly the system settings! I mean it says backup befor eupdate to save your files,!It also says that I need the new backup and restore from [URL] or whatever, so I downloaded it and it says cannot update!Talk about annoying.what I can do to get my system files?

I took a backup of my contacts before upgrading from1.6 and I was able to restore it to 2.1 but there was a recent update which I did. Now I am not able to restore the the Contacts. Others like call log & Messages are getting restored. I have 187 contacts which the backup shows. Can you assist on how to restore it.

It's been so long since I have played with an iPhone as i have lost some interest in it. But now my father who owned a 3gs, which I had jailbroken when it still had 3.1.2 but the 3.1.3 was the official OS out at the moment, has bought the iphone 4. He is giving his 3gs to my sister now who wants a clean install of it.
My nooby question:
She does not care for the 4.0 iOS, so I will not need to give her that. I also know that the 3.1.2 was an awesome version for the 3gs that it did not need to be a tethered jailbreak. So, how do I go about restoring the 3gs with the 3.1.3 SHSH on file since its the only one I can do? And how is the jailbreak for it when I do restore it to 3.1.3?
Will it be possible to sync my new iP4 from a 3.1.3 backup of a 3G? Or must I install iOS4 on the 3G in order to restore from backup once the iP4 arrives?I am hesitant to install iOS4 on my 3G because of the conflicting reports it slows the phone way down.

About 15 hours later and there's been no movement in the loading bar, it's still empty, so I'm assuming it must be frozen.

When copying wav files to the iPhone4 it always compressed to AAC automatically. After a restore to original settings it now copies the wav files uncompressed. Import is set to AAC but it makes no difference. iTunes 10.5.3.3. Have the same issue with iPod Touch.

View 4 Replies View Relatediphone messed up so i backed it up at 1:46am so i could basically restore my phone as new. anyways, tried to restore from my backup at 1:46am and there's not an option to restore it from. it has one from 2am, so i clicked that and i lost everything. not really sure why. also went to itunes>preferences>devices and my backup from 1:46am is there but i'm not sure what i can do about it. viewed it in finder and dragged it to my desktop just incase i need to use it.

However when I tried to restore a recent backup I made to the cloud it said that I could not do it because the old backup was on an older ios and the new phone was on a new ios. After activation I went into itunes to restore today's backup into the new phone and the backup from today vanished.Â
Part of the problem may be that when I plugged in the new phone itunes asked me to update their software in my computer.Â

I seem to have lost my data in iphone 5s. It is asking to either setup as a new phone or restore from itunes backup. The last back i did was today afternoon when everything was intact. But once the iphone was connected to itunes, it automatically started backing up the device with no data (as it was wiped out), now when I attempt to restore from itunes backup all it does is restore from the latest backup.This afternoon's successful backup does not seem to get listed in the list of backups. The reason for doing backup is to restore when in need.
