I have tried almost everything. I deleted the file in the Update Service folder, re-downloaded, and reinstalled so many times, tried setting the PCC to check for updates every time phone is plugged in(which it said on the SE website, but isn't an option at all. Could anyone perhaps shed some light. I am getting pretty frustrated with all this nonsense.
View 5 RepliesFinally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..
I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?

my phone is running android 2.1 ( my first update from android 1.6 to 2.1 was successful) after dat im getting this same problem .
i can never update via wifi also ( i get error saying "New Software available.Not enough memory,restart your phone before downloading" but nothing happens i just ended up uninstalling all my apps even ADWlauncher ..the same msg getting displayed again)....

I have a Retail UK Defy with Android 2.1 eclaire, eagerly waiting for 2.2 to be released. Motorola Software Update has been installed on my system for months, and always detects my phone model and tells me there's no update available. MSU updated today and no longer even recognizes my phone, and the Motorola website [URL] doesn't even have the unbranded UK Defy as an option any more.

After doing that i didnt face most of the issues reported for 4.0.3 ICS release. Now my question is, If i update my phone to the latest build will it automatically unroot? Do i have to root it again using doomlords method?

It seems the delay is also not due to the Telcos, according to SE Singapore.
I've never updated my phone the Xperia 10 and I have been trying to do it for a while but it keeps saying an error has come up and it cant carry on with the update. The phone has gone slow and half of the features don't work cus there out of date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCurve 8900 (TIM) OS: 5.0.0.461.Yesterday I connected my device to the computer and upgraded the software to version 5.0.0.461 via Blackberry desktop manager. I can't remember witch OS version the device had before.
After the update, i'm having two problems:
1.- When connected to my Dell BH200 bluetooth headset it no longer recognizes the A/V Remote control functions. With the previous software version, when the headset connected, it recognized: Handsfree, Stereo audio and A/V Remote control (witch allowed me to change songs and pause/resume play using the headset buttons). With the new version, it only recognizes the first two (even though in the device properties screen appear as services: Handsfree, Headset, A/V Remote control and Audio sink) . I use my device to listen to music, so having to take it out everytime i want to change a song instead of just using the headset buttons bugs me. Trying to solve this problem, i have deleted the headset from my bluetooth device list, and then paired it again (several times). I have also reseted the headset, and the device but nothing works. Any ideas on how i can get the device to recognize A/V Remote control functions again?
2.- After the upgrade, the block screen button on top of the device no longer works. Also, putting the device into the holster no longer blocks the device. Is this function disabled in new version?

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy iphone 4 died while updating to 5.1, it was plugged into my mac but my mac powered down because i didnt have the magnet mag safe thing in all the way. anywho, i turned it on and it says no service. i have restarted, grabbed a new sim, restored the iphone, i reset, i have done everything and i cant call or use 3g, the wifi works fine. i have about 2 months left on my 1 year apple warranty, i live in canada so going to an apple store is 5 hours away.

I bought a referb(haha) 3GS(16gb newer model) from AT&T and it came with IOS 5.0 pre-installed, everything worked fine updated to 5.0.1 as soon as I got it activated. I then upgraded my phone to a 4 and decided to give my 3GS to my brother (who also has a 3GS, just an 8gb version), before I was going to do that, I decided to restore and update, after resetting all settings and updating to 5.1, I put in his SIM into the phone but itunes says that there is no SIM inserted into the phone and I'm not able to activate it. Same for wifi activation, (says server is busy). I've tried another AT&T SIM from another iphone 3GS and the same thing, No service, no SIM, busy server. So I thought It'd try and restore the iphone, I put it into DFU mode, hooked it up to itunes, hit restore and it gives me an error 3194. Oddly enough I don't get this error on my laptop if I restore from there. Either way, my 3GS is no longer working after the 5.1 update. I was told by my friend who works at the apple store that 5.1 does break a few iphones for one of two reasons, but he didn't think the problem with my phone were either of them.

My xperia neo SI number is 1246-9893 purchased in UK and using in India right now. Q2] If i update to Ice Cream Sandwich and if any problem occurs then can i revert back to an old version of android i.e gingerbread.?
