I have a Retail UK Defy with Android 2.1 eclaire, eagerly waiting for 2.2 to be released. Motorola Software Update has been installed on my system for months, and always detects my phone model and tells me there's no update available. MSU updated today and no longer even recognizes my phone, and the Motorola website [URL] doesn't even have the unbranded UK Defy as an option any more.

Sometimes it connected 5 minutes later but nowadays doesn't work at all.By power charger it is charging normally.When it's plugged to the computer, the phone's screen lights up, but doesn't connect or charge. If I tick on/off meanwhile the USB debug, the USB sign shows up but it's still not charging or connecting. (I've already tried all 4 options)Moreover when I remove the USB cable, the USB signal doesn't disappear until I restart the phone or abort the USB in the application manager.I've already tried to install or uninstall the driver (Moto Helper) but didn't help.The main problem is that if I connect the phone to the notebook, the device manager doesn't see it. (I tried different computers, Win XP and Win 7)I did a factory reset several times, I also tried changing usb cable... but nothing happened.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurve 8900 (TIM) OS: 5.0.0.461.Yesterday I connected my device to the computer and upgraded the software to version 5.0.0.461 via Blackberry desktop manager. I can't remember witch OS version the device had before.
After the update, i'm having two problems:
1.- When connected to my Dell BH200 bluetooth headset it no longer recognizes the A/V Remote control functions. With the previous software version, when the headset connected, it recognized: Handsfree, Stereo audio and A/V Remote control (witch allowed me to change songs and pause/resume play using the headset buttons). With the new version, it only recognizes the first two (even though in the device properties screen appear as services: Handsfree, Headset, A/V Remote control and Audio sink) . I use my device to listen to music, so having to take it out everytime i want to change a song instead of just using the headset buttons bugs me. Trying to solve this problem, i have deleted the headset from my bluetooth device list, and then paired it again (several times). I have also reseted the headset, and the device but nothing works. Any ideas on how i can get the device to recognize A/V Remote control functions again?
2.- After the upgrade, the block screen button on top of the device no longer works. Also, putting the device into the holster no longer blocks the device. Is this function disabled in new version?

I charged it last night and was able to turn it on and everything was fine...I was able to receive calls and get onto the Facebook app with no problems. I continued to let it charge and went to sleep. I awoke to a Blackberry that was off while still plugged in. I turned it on and I never received a true network signal...I'm with Verizon and the only signal I constantly get was 1xand sometimes 3G but I could still not place or receieve calls...it was so sporadic that I eventually got a couple of calls thru to VZW and it was no prob on their end. Did *228...nothing...battery pull....same result...alt shift delete...same...tried to switch network...NEVER COULD CONNECT TO A NETWORK. IN FACT IT SAYS UNKNOWN OPERATOR UNDER MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS...went to VZW store they were clueless...backed up data and did security wipe..One thing I noticed is the Blackberry icon that's usually there by network signal strength has disappeared and no matter what hasn't returned..I have the latest os .374.I also reloaded the os and it still says unknown operator under mobile networks.I did alt LGLG and found a few errors including an net.rim.tcp error and a class cast exception severe error.What is RIM's contact info cause I bought this thing brand new, unactivated and at full price and I'll have to pay Verzion $100 for them just to send me a refurb.

I recently updated my sprint 9630 to v. 5.0.0.1030 (bundle 1675, platform 4.2.0.451). My desktop manager no longer recognizes the phone when I plug it in. My laptop rcognizes that the phone is plugged and it is charging the phone as well, but the software doesn't work. It keeps telling me that it is disconnected. When I run update for the desktop software it says I have the latest version installed. It still shows that my device software version is 5.0.0.983. I have turned off my firewall temporarily, rebooted the laptop, did a battery pull on the phone and nothing works. It still does not recognize the phone.

I deleted the file in the Update Service folder, re-downloaded, and reinstalled so many times, tried setting the PCC to check for updates every time phone is plugged in(which it said on the SE website, but isn't an option at all. I tried to upgdate my phone over 5 times and the same thing happens. The pin is correct.I turned it off and took the battery out and in again then turned it on, but it is still the same.The battery is at 60% so it is not that.Why would this be please? after upgrading my Defy to 2.2.2 it runs 24h at most on its battery. It ran at least 2 days before the update. Now it usually runs out of battery after work. By then it was last charged 11-12 hours ago.I installed the OS Monitor from the market to check what is eating up my battery. Turns out that the "init" process starts eating up all free CPU resources after a while. The phones runs smoothly for about an hour or two after turning on. But as soon as the init process starts using the entire CPU, battery goes down very quickly.I did not install any new apps after the update besides the OS Monitor. So the apps have not changed. Still the battey dies very quickly.What can I do to get my phone back to its old charge cycle?

View 14 Replies View RelatedIt seems every time a contact on my twitter account changes its profile picture, Motoblur simply do not show it anymore neither on the widget or the Motoblur app that the widget calls. In place of the precedent picture I then get the gray generic anonymous shadow. I'm not sure it is froyo related, but it sure started after the upgrade. I can imagine the issue coming from the Blur service on the servers and not from the phone itself.
