I just bought a defy+ a few days ago and am really happy with it.But my problem is i bougth it in germany with an german retail version of the motoblur (45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.DE), I live in denmark and want to change it to the scandinavian version.hen ever I try to download the scandinavian version to the device it tells me it already is up to date and their is no update available. How do i get around this problem and force it update to the scandinavian version.
I've been having issues since I did the Froyo update on my Blue Tick upgraded Telstra defy. Australian users will know what I mean by that. I did a hard reset soon after the froyo update because a few strange things were happenning. The hard reset seemed to resolve my issues.
But now I need to reboot my phone on average once per day. I get google system processes force closing randomly. It usually happens when I'm not even using the phone. I'll pick it up to use it and there'll be a force close message. Stuff like Swype will also randomly force close. When this stuff starts to happen, a heap of my apps won't open. They just force close straight away. When I reboot everything is fine for about another 24 hours, then another google system process will force close and it all starts to happen again.
Has anyone had anything similar happen? Is there any point in doing another hard reset? I can't really see why it would make any difference doing it again. I'm currently in the middle of reformatting my sd card to see if that makes any difference.
How do you UNDO force stop of applications in Android 2.2.2? I have force-stopped a few applications as this saves battery and one need not have unnecessary apps running and draining battery in the background all the time BUT if one decides to reuse these force-stopped apps AGAIN for all-time running-in-the-background, how can you do it?
The problem is that, I clicked the green button with a phone logo at the bottom of the homepage,then clicked the tab "Contacts", the phone force close it,and also the signal drops to emergency calls only.Before I discovered this problem, I just set a speed dial for my mum's contactand made a call with the dialler by pressing the number keyboard but not the contacts.
I updated to Froyo via Motorola website but it hasn't worked. My phone still shows firmware 2.1.1. Tried to update again via Motorola website but it now tells me that there are no updates for my phone.....I presume that it somehow detects that my phone previously downloaded froyo update.
The initial shine of the 3.1 patch to fix shortcomings in orginal 3.1 upgrade has tarnished.I'm now experiancing regular "Not Responding" messages while browsing, and if you select "wait" rather than "close", the entire system freezes.This results in me having to hold the UP volume button and power button until it does a hard shut down.

I have a Droid Razr and my carrier is Verizon. Ever since the motorola update on friday, 2/17 I cannot open 2 email accounts (bellsouth and godaddy) They both disappeared from my email icon and altough they are listed in My accounts they have a new green icon next to the name and underneath the email address it says com.motorola.blur.provider.email. The update didn't effect my gmail account. I have spoke to several Verizon reps and a Motorola rep after removing sims card, turning off and on and several soft resets nothing has worked. When I held down the email name in My Accounts it forces close. It says the application My Accounts (process com.motorola setup)has stopped unexpectedly pease try again.
have a Xoom that is consistently force closing the browser when I visit certain javascript animation sites, including our own web site with animations.(Animations built using jquery 1.4.4 but tested on 1.6.1 as well.) These sites did not cause force closes previous to the Android 3.1 update. I cant seem to figure out how to update to 2.2. I have an unlocked Defy in the U.S. with AT&T. When I do system update it sais it is current. If I try to update through motorola it directs me to the t-mobile update. How do I get a stand alone download file to update my Defy to android 2.2?
I've had the phone for a few months now, and it has been somewhat unreliable since day one: random reboots among the many and various problems I've had come and go sporadically. Never got 'round to contacting any kind of support 'till now. I haven't rooted the device, installed any custom ROM etc. It's a retail model FWIW.
I've just used the msu utility to update to 2.2 and after finishing the update the phone won't boot. I see an M logo with an ominous red background, followed by Bootloader

After I was offered and updated to 2.3.6 I can not use data connection anymore. Also APN settings are not being saved and disappear. The customer support is silent on the subject for several days already. The Internet seems to be full of complaints from Germany users
I seem to be having the hardest time updating my defy from 2.1 to 2.2. Whenever I install the 2.2 update I see the android guy with a ! inside a triangle. I tried to upgdate my phone over 5 times and the same thing happens. Last night I decided to restore my phone to the factory settings and try to download and install the update again and no luck, same problem.
My phone is a Retail.De and after update (20-12-2011)I've done a factory reset to try to solve the APN problem. After that also the market is not working any more (server problem), I also tried a new reset and the last market build (3.4.4). So new update means APN and Market are not working.
After the update to 2.2.2 and after a hard reset, the phone takes a long time syncing my Google accounts e-mails. Is there a setting that i have missed ? I am on a 3G data plan. Before when a new e-mail was received in the Gmail inbox i instantly received a notification on my phone.

I have just upgraded my defy with the latest software package, now my phone is completely black with only the notification bar working, I have tried a full factory default but this did not work.

I installed now and it showed a bar where the progress was.I did not touch the phone and I heard another noise and went to look at the phone.It was black and when i tried to give the pin, it said Sim card locked emergency calls only. The pin is correct.I turned it off and took the battery out and in again then turned it on, but it is still the same.The battery is at 60% so it is not that.Why would this be please? Did I install a virus? It looked just like the normal official updates.
When i go to recent calls in the calling menu instead of saying what time the call was made or recieved it simply says roughly how long ago it was made.. this is annoying.

However, on the phone, if I 'check for system updates', it reports the software is up to date.
Since I have an issue with the software, I'd like to update it to check for a fix. I could probably use the USB updater, but is there some reason why the phone won't do it itself ?
after upgrading my Defy to 2.2.2 it runs 24h at most on its battery. It ran at least 2 days before the update. Now it usually runs out of battery after work. By then it was last charged 11-12 hours ago.I installed the OS Monitor from the market to check what is eating up my battery. Turns out that the "init" process starts eating up all free CPU resources after a while. The phones runs smoothly for about an hour or two after turning on. But as soon as the init process starts using the entire CPU, battery goes down very quickly.I did not install any new apps after the update besides the OS Monitor. So the apps have not changed. Still the battey dies very quickly.What can I do to get my phone back to its old charge cycle?

I am trying to update my phone defy to Android 2.2. I have installed the Mororola Software Update but when I start the program it just opens as a blank white screen, I am guessing that it is not supposed to do that? Windows XP SP3 if that helps
I have tried uninstalling everything and re installing it all again, opening the software when the phone is connected already and connecting the phone once the software is running. When I close the software and the phone is connected the phone restarts.
I have a Retail UK Defy with Android 2.1 eclaire, eagerly waiting for 2.2 to be released. Motorola Software Update has been installed on my system for months, and always detects my phone model and tells me there's no update available. It seems every time a contact on my twitter account changes its profile picture, Motoblur simply do not show it anymore neither on the widget or the Motoblur app that the widget calls. In place of the precedent picture I then get the gray generic anonymous shadow. I'm not sure it is froyo related, but it sure started after the upgrade. I can imagine the issue coming from the Blur service on the servers and not from the phone itself.
I have updated my Defy's software using the official Motorola Software Update software. The update process passed through but at the end the phone not booted.

When I go to setting>About Phone>System Updates, it replied with "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later". I lasted for a month until now.
Well just wonder if there some Devs here to get any word on Motoblur/Social widget stuck. Currently there lots of tears in internets about SN-Widget and how bad/random its synching with Facebook, there also some workarounds but i would love to get an answer from any Officials.My workaround: was uninstalling the update for Social Networks app and after reboot its synched my FB stuff perfectly, but when Blur-updater(see task-manager) installed it again the widget stopped synching anything from FB.Its works also random with Twitter - actualy its shows you your status update but not the tweets you fallow.
