Xperia X10 :: "(No Service)" In Notification Panel When Drag Down After Upgrade To 2.1?

Nov 10, 2010

I'm not sure if there is a defect in my update... but upon completion of update, I noticed that when I drag down the notification panel, immediately below the status bar before the notifications, the words "(No service)" is displayed. I do not remember 1.6 having that... but is it suppose to show my network name? I hope someone could enlighten me. It is irritating having those words there not knowing what it means.

IPhone :: SMS Delivery Notification (useful In Areas With Poor Service)

Jan 21, 2010

You know the sound the phone makes when you send an SMS? The little "boop" sound (haha). I like it because when I am texting from apps like tlert or biteSMS, it verifies that the text was sent. This is useful for me in areas where I have poor service as a verification. Why do I need this? Because I have often sent a text, then gone back hours later to see that it never sent. This is due to a combination of poor service in certain areas and the fact that I usually keep the ringer switch set to vibrate.

I searched a long time trying to find something that would make my phone vibrate when the message was sent, but couldn't find anything, so I went into the files and figured it myself. I did this all in iFile, because it was way easier then through SSH - but you can do either one.

1.) open iFile/SSH into your phone.

2.) Go to System>Library>PrivateFrameworks>Celestial.Framework and open the file "SystemSoundBehaviors.plist"

3.)* Scroll down to:
<key>SMSSent</key>
<dict>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOff</key>
<array/>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOn</key>
<array>
<string>Beep</string>
</array>
</dict>

You will want to change this to:
<key>SMSSent</key>
<dict>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOff</key>
<array>
<string>Vibrate</string>
</array>
<key>RingVibrateIgnore,SilentVibrateIgnore,RingerSwitchOn</key>
<array>
<string>Beep</string>
</array>
</dict>

4.) Save the file, and reboot your phone.

5.) It may not work right away; it actually took a day or two to take affect on my phone, but is working now. It a nice verification system.

*
There are all other sorts of sound behaviors that you look at it in there, such as when you flip the ringer switch (whether it vibrates or not).There are multiple settings for each action. Look at the keys: Ring or Vibrate? Or ignore? Silent or Vibrate? Or ignore. Is the ringer switch on or off? Or ignore?

Xperia Ray :: No Service Or Signal?

Jul 1, 2012

I'm on o2 uk, I have an xperia Ray with a new sim. My phone constanly loses signal yet when i search or start using the phone even when I haven't moved from where I've been standing or sat for the last hour or so the phone suddenly jumps to 2 or 3 bars on the signal icon! How can that be if I'm stationary it goes from nothing to 2 or 3 bars?? Also my family who are on the same network but have iphones & blackberry don't have this problem, always have strong signals as we live in a good signal strength area but I'm the only one who can't get a signal. If I go to work other people can use their phones-also on o2 but I get nothing! I get texts hours & days after they're sent to me, calls get sent to voicemail as I have no service, o2 sent me a new phone so it's not the phone, it's a new sim, I've tried going on gsm only, rebooting, turning off the radio etc etc but I'm no better off, I'm at my witts end & ready to switch to another brand phone.

Xperia Pro/Neo/V/L :: It Restarts When Losing Service?

May 7, 2011

I have a Xperia Neo MT15i. Soon after I upgraded with the latest software it started restarting a few seconds after finished booting up. This only happens when I have a SIM-card in it. I've tried different SIM-cards with from different carriers and I get the same issue and the cards work fine in other smartphones. SD card or not makes no difference.I've got the phone back twice from service and they say they are not even able to recreate the problem, so they just upgrade the software and look happy.So today I did a repair in the PC companion, put the SIM card in, went outside, started the phone and it works for a few minutes without restarting. When I go back inside it immediately restarts.I live in a radio shadow, so I have lousy reception at home and I keep losing service. Reception is between 0-1 signal bars inside, but if I go outside I get 2-3.So my theory is that when the phone looses or is unable to reestablish connection to my service it decides to restart to try again.

Xperia X10 :: SBE Repair: Unacceptably Bad Service

Nov 30, 2011

I am (was) the owner of a Xperia X10. Unfortunately in late 2010 I had the common fault of the phone not charging. So I sent of my phone to get repaired at the Sony Ericsson accredited repair center, SBE. About a week after sending it of they said that the damage was covered by the warranty and that they would send me a brand new replacement X10. However, when I got the phone back the memory card was missing. When I rung up to enquire about it's whereabouts they had no idea where it was and refused to replace it, even though on the form I sent with the phone I declared I had sent the memory card. Obviously I was angry, since was there was literally nothing I could do about it. I got over that. However, about a month ago the exact same fault occoured. Since I knew the damage was covered by warranty and the chances were that a I would receive a new phone I was all to keen to send it off to SBE. With the knowledge than my memory card had been lost last time I used SBE I was extra careful to only send items which could have attributed to the fault. These included the phone itself, the battery and the charger. After about 2 weeks of it being away (I posted it on next day special delivery) they finally got back to me with the news that the fault wasn't covered by the warranty. Clearly I was pretty angry, so I phoned orange, who advised me to have it sent back and then take it in to them to have a look at. £10.00 later and my phone was sent back to me... missing the charger. I was fuming! And once again, because I had no proof that I had sent it they refused to help me in any way shape or form.So, if you break your Sony Ericsson, please, think before you send it of to SBE. Read around, I'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with SBE. I can't believe they are still accredited by Sony Ericcson.

Xperia X10 :: Why Is SG Update Only Available At Service Centres

Nov 3, 2010

I find it surprising, that Singapore, being one of the more wired-up countries cannot made the update available on the Net. It it only available if we bring the phone to the Service Centers, and it could take up to one day for it to be done according to my phone query.

It seems the delay is also not due to the Telcos, according to SE Singapore.
