Jun 25, 2012I can see that there is a new update for my Xperia Neo but when it gets to the second stage (preparing my phone to update), it says it is 'unable to install or start phone software update components'. Anyone have any idea how I can update my phone or why it won't let me update it now???

Mar 16, 2012When i try to ugrade my phone software i get the error message "Unable to install or start phone software update conponents" . i restarted phone, pc suite, reinstalled, but my phone is not getting upgraded. pc suit says latest upgrades are available. Even if i go for repair phone same option comes.
Hestory : last night i tried to upgrade my phone using Sony Update service. it ran upgrade and everything was new. all previously installed softwares are gone.
Symptoms: it shows android 2.3.4 version on phone but in PC suit while, upgrade using pc suite it says vrsion 4 .a .XXX , and upgrading to 4.b.XXX ... then it proceeds and fails with error "Unable to install or start phone software update conponents" .

Dec 6, 2011I received notification that a system update is available for 4.0.2.A.0.42 and that this update can only be done with PC Companion. I followed every instruction but I had to abort the process when PC Companion prompted me to discontinue due to low battery conditions. I charged my battery. I connected phone and continued process. In step two - prepare - I get the error message: Installation Error: unable to install or start phone software update components. I tried several times but I still get the same error. Jun 11, 2010Five days back purchased a Xperia X10 and upgraded the memory to 16GB. It was working fine since yesterday morning, when I updated the phone through SE PC Companion software.
First SEPCC presented a message for update then it told to disconnect the phone from USB, switch it off, remove battery for at least 5 sec., put battery again, connect it USB with pressing back button. After that it starts downloading the update and then tried to install the update. But it failed 2 times.
Right now I am not able to start the mobile even by removing the memory. On the screen it displays SONY ERICSSON text and a '!' mark inside a triangle.

May 20, 2010I'm having a problem when trying to update my Nokia 5230 using the Nokia Suite.Please note; my phone is plugged in, there is an update for my phone as the last time it was updated was when it made manufactured (nov 09). The USB mode is on 'PC suite'. I have downloaded all the latest versions of the Nokia Suite.
When I click 'Update Phone Software", it takes me to the updater. When it comes to the 'Searching for a connected device', it hands for about 1-2 minutes, then says "Unable to find device".

Oct 22, 2012I received a message on my XPeria Mini Pro about the 4.1.B.0.587 Update. In fact, I can not install it. When I start the PC Companion software, it finds the connected Phone. Then I click on update. In the following window I click "Accept" and then the software should prepare the PC for the update. But after one second it stops and returns to Start without any comment. When I start Sony Mobile Update Service then it checks for new updates. As soon as the check is over, the program terminates without any comment. Is there a third way to upgrade?

Sep 22, 2010I'm getting this problem where I can connect to WiFi the first time with no problem but once I disconnect and the phone sleeps, it can't connect to the network again and says "Unable to Start WiFi", I can't even get to Wireless settings because it can't start the WiFi.It's the same story with Bluetooth. It'll work once. If I turn the phone off and then on again, it will work once more but only ONCE before doing the same thing again.

Aug 30, 2011i have a xoom 32gb wifi only device that i purchased from woot.com and i received the update notice to 3.1. i have downloaded and attempted to install several times now, each attempt has failed.
see attached image for error I have tried a Factory Reset (Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset), as well as factory reset at boot. No success.
I also tried the "wipe cache" command at boot and this did not result in a successful installation either. The only other choice at boot that makes sense is to "install update from usb", and when selected it goes to sdcard.
At this point I am seriously considering rooting, unlocking and then updating?
