So yesterday all of a suddent after working fine for a month my n900 connects to my wifi connection at home but doesnt open webpages or anything. It connects normally but nothing opens. the vodafone gprs works perfectly.I reflashed phone restored to factory settings formatted. Dont everything so any ideas as to what cuold be wrong?
View 4 RepliesI have a N900 and have experienced unstable 3G data connection. Web pages at times won't open, take a long time to open, or simply timeout. Internet Radio re-buffering all the time.I take out the SIM card and put it into my N97. Internet connection seems fine in my N97 at the same location. I turn on the Joikuspot on my N97 (convert 3G signal into Wi-fi hotspot) and connect my N900 to Internet via wi-fi and the Internet connection on my N900 runs absolutely smooth. I can open different websites with Internet radio running in the background.
May I know if anyone can help me with this? I am running out of ideas. And I cannot carry both N900 and N97 at the same time like this to make Internet connection works for N900.
Not sure why, my N900 seems to be pretty slow in opening up web pages. The home screen says that I am on 3.5G. At times the page wouldn't even get loaded (white screen or connection error).To test if it is due to bad coverage, I pull out the SIM card and put it back to my N97. And the web pages seem to load a lot faster (and smoother). This is strange. Is there some settings I need to fiddle with? I have tried changing the memory cache size from 5MB up but the improvement does not seem to be consistant. Now, I set the cache to auto.

I've been using my Wifi connection (from home) lately, I had no troubles what-so-ever. I turned on my 3G network this morning, and again, everything's going perfectly fine with my connection. I came home around half 4 from school and decided to turn on my WiFi connection at home, what I've realized is that whenever I try turning on my WiFi network, the little sign that's usually at the top doesn't appear anymore. I tried resetting the network settings and closing and opening my phone, but.. This didn't really make any difference.I have tried reconnecting to my WiFi but nothing happened, my Bluetooth's never really turned on.

Sometimes when I'm web browsing clicking some links suddenly won;t work. They'll show selected but won't actually link, even links I have previously selected, so I know they're good links. Closing the browser down & reopening fixes it. I haven't managed to suss a pattern to it yet so am a bit confused. Any ideas please because it's getting really annoying?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had the N900 since Feburary now and it started today.I use to have internet connection on all the time but today, it's not working.I've tried to get a connection but it message says "Internet Connection Failed, Try Again?"When I press Yes, it tries again but get the same message. I've didn't change any connection settings and I'm with T-Mobile if that helps.

I'll be going away to (very) foreign parts next month, so I'd like to use the N900 as a tethered modem for my netbook. However when I connect the phone to the netbook via the USB cable, and choose the "PC suite" option, the phone is recognised when I use lsusb in a terminal, but the modem *is not*. Is there something in the phone settings I need to tweak, or an extra app I need to install in the phone, or is it a more fundamental flaw? Google searches for "Nokia N900" + modem + linux give pages which suggest that it should "just work", but it doesn't
If all else fails, I may have to fall back to using my previous phone (a Sony Ericsson v630i), which I *have* used successfully as a tethered modem, but I'd prefer to keep using the N900...

View 7 Replies View RelatedHaving just upgraded to the iPhone 4 from a 3G, I'm so used to everything working so smoothly that I'm starting to expect I can use it more like a computer. So its slightly disappointing to see that there's an 8-pages-open-at-a-time limit in Safari. For example, I like to click a bunch of thread links on macrumors just to read them one by one, but now you can only have eight at a time before the first ones you clicked start disappearing. Don't get me wrong, on the 3G after 3 pages were open, it would either start to get very slow or just crash, so this is a huge improvement, I just thought that with the 512mb of RAM it would be a bit more capable now. Was this the same situation as it was before? (mainly on the 3GS I guess)

When I hit the two rectangles on the bottom right of the phone I see all the web pages I recently opened. Been told by Motorola customer service that you have to delete one by one.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRunning v 5.0 in my s.5. Android stopped saving my open tabs so when I open Chrome, I get the google home page instead of my last open tabs. I have a lower android version in my tablet and it still holds my last pages so I suspect this is an upgrade "improvement". The tabs do remain in my history but that means going to my history and opening from there. I wonder is there any way around this - I use specific pages every time I open and this is adding unnecessary steps.

The problems I've been having are intermittent disconnection of the mouse using a Logitech v470. When I used the Apple Magic Mouse I never had an issue but you weren't able to scroll in the browser using the touch feature. Some scrolling standardization among all the apps and OS would be nice. Some parts you have to click and drag to scroll (scrolling bookmarks in the browser, App World and in the OS launcher) while other parts like documents or the browser you can use the scroll wheel perfectly. Scrolling on pages that open up windows or use pains is also not possible using the mouse. For example scrolling in gmail for tablets and scrolling if you open up a picture using facebook.com. Gesturing using the the right mouse button is fantastic but I'd like to be able to hold either the right or left buttons and bring up the contextual menus. Currently this is only accomplished by having to touch the device which is ok as long as the device is within reach but hook it up to your TV and you're sol. Copying and pasting by selecting text with the keyboard (crtl+a) works sometimes and other times you're just better off using your finger to bring up the select widgets and copy/paste that way. I really like how you're able to tab text boxes using the tab key.
Overall I'm very happy but these few annoyances really hold the device back from being used on the couch with a TV or being used anywhere out of arms reach for that matter. Being able to scroll with inertia while holding the right mouse button would be really nice. Anything you can do with your finger should be able to be accomplished mimicking those motions while holding or clicking the right mouse. I hope in the next update or sometime soon these issues are addressed.
I had been using my N900 for 2 weeks without any issues. I never updated the software. Last night I was trying to take a picture and opened the camera lens cover. Accidentally I pressed the power button instead of the camera capture key while trying to take the picture. The display went off. I also found the phone felt warmer than usual. I took the battery out, put it in and tried again. No success. This time the phone did seem to be getting hot. I took the battery out and tried several hours later. No effect - the phone wasn't feeling warm either. I tried both the USB and wall charger - the LED was glowing green, but the phone wouldn't turn on.
Now even with the charger connected, the LED doesn't glow. Being a Sunday, I can't contact Nokia Care till tomorrow. Breaks my heart to think the hardware could get messed up so easily. We've had several Nokias in the family but not a high end one like N900. I've tried everything suggested in other forurms (including Maemo). I tried to update software with NSU. The NSU can't even detect the N900 when I connect it to the USB port. Probably suggests the battery is flat. I don't have a 5800 to try and recharge the battery externally - its shocking to know the phone can't charge if the battery is flat. If a laptop can why can't a "smart" phone? Anything else I can try?
I have a nokia N86 still and went back to it today as i dropped X6 tuf cookie for me. Any way when I connect to the net I can get up most pages fine. However, when I need to choose another link on the same page it does not open or reverts back to homescreen.
If I google search something it gets the results but not everytime it will open link, eg today I opened my GSM Arena bookmark that opens fine went to the page after which was the awaited news of nokia releasing 3 phones today, that opens but when I go to open link on that same page it wont open, the phone goes blank or either back to homescreen.
I find the same with OVI and OVI can be horribly slow at times to could this be a factor? Also with yahoo mail the same I get my mail, it opens fine but if I go to open the url on the mail the same happens phone is up to date. As i said I've exhausted every other typical solution there is. Sometimes the message pops up unable to perform operation/packet data not available/forget what the other one is, I have full 3.5g coverage.

This could also be because of problems with our servers. Is it that NSU does not support N900 and if so why would Nokia sell a phone and not provide software to update the phone with.
