My N900 will connect to Wifi, but then loses connection within 30sec - 5min. I have a WPA encryption and have no other connectivity issues with any of my other devices. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be.

I've didn't change any connection settings and I'm with T-Mobile if that helps.

I've recently bought a Nokia 5800 xm and have been able to connect it to my home internet using the wlan wifi.
I can only use the wifi if i go to settings>connectivity>wlan. If i go straight to internet, it tries to connect to t-mobile internet. This also happens when trying to use applications such as bbc iplayer and the ovi store.
Is there a way of setting the wifi connection as the default connection? If not, is there a way of setting up my applications so they connect using wifi?
I bought an N900 from the Nokia shop about 3 months ago. I'll be going away to (very) foreign parts next month, so I'd like to use the N900 as a tethered modem for my netbook. However when I connect the phone to the netbook via the USB cable, and choose the "PC suite" option, the phone is recognised when I use lsusb in a terminal, but the modem *is not*. Is there something in the phone settings I need to tweak, or an extra app I need to install in the phone, or is it a more fundamental flaw? Google searches for "Nokia N900" + modem + linux give pages which suggest that it should "just work", but it doesn't
If all else fails, I may have to fall back to using my previous phone (a Sony Ericsson v630i), which I *have* used successfully as a tethered modem, but I'd prefer to keep using the N900...
I JUST bought N900 and only problems i got with the Bluetooth ... i cant receive any media file from other devices or my pc laptop . it give FAIL TO CONNECT WITH REMOT DEVICE CAN RECEIVE AND SEND ONLY PICTURES .. This new phone is giving me a headache. I am trying to connect to my wireless internet and this device keeps asking for a WEP Key. I am using a WPA-Personal password but can not get the N900 to give me the option to use the WPA passphrase. Can someome please help me get my device connected?
I really struggle with the wifi on my N900. When I want to see emails I have to disconnect from the wifi and change to 3G otherwise get an error message. Also can only download apps if via 3G - again have to disconnect from home wifi. Also cannot use the iplayer - probably because over wifi? Anyone else have this problem?
Just bought a device and found that I cannot connect to the home WiFi internet. It's terribly sad, because the main reason of buying this product was exactly i-net. When I connect it asks me to input "preliminary" (?) PSK code. Then it tells me that PSK key is wrong. I can connect using Nokia 5800, PSP, both laptops and my PocketLOOX 570, but N900 cannot. Even if I go to "set up coneections", and go step by step. It can see the wireless itself, no problem. when I set up identification, I choose WPA-PSK (is it correct?) and print in the key. Then same story happen. It cannot connect , and says "connection error", or something like that. That's it. What am I doing wrong there?
I have a Nokia N900. When I am in offline mode, but there is a SIM card in it, when I try to connect with Wifi, I get a message saying: Exit offline mode? (Yes/No are the possibles answers). Well I click No to connect to the internet while I am in offline mode, but nothing happens then! It connects without a problem without a SIM card or when I am not in offline mode. Is that supposed to happen? No Internet in Offline Mode?
When i am at home my N900 uses my home WiFi to connect to the internet, the same way my lap top does, i also have a printer connected to the network via Ethernet. Why is my laptop able to send doc's to the print but my N900 is not able to?
I'm base in Sydney Australia and have just received a msg from Nokia that I can update my firmware for my N900.(firmware version 10.2010.19.)The problem is that I receive a message that I could not update because of: poor-quality ,slow or intermittent internet connection. This could also be because of problems with our servers. Is it that NSU does not support N900 and if so why would Nokia sell a phone and not provide software to update the phone with.
I bought an e73 a few days ago and found the wifi connection did not work. In a free pubic hotspot that doesn't require a key, the phone could find the network but couldn't connect (with an error message J007). In my home wifi network with a wep key, the phone couldn't connect either but with a different error message w002. I talked to a couple of t-mobile tech support and spent about 3 hours so far on the phone but couldn't get it resolved. If anyone has found an answer or share similar problem.
Have a new e52 with the latest firmware. The problem is when I connect to a WiFi access point, but then leave the area and try to re-connect, it keeps trying to access the last WiFi spot. I have to turn off WiFi then try and re-connect to the Internet.
I've been using the Lumia 710 for the whole day. I leave Wifi and Data connection on.
It's been connected to 2 wifi points at work and home and has only been connected to 3g twice, for 30 minutes each time. I haven't even been heavily accessing apps.
In that time my data allowance has fallen from 83mb to 56. I can't understand why this would be so high. 27mb used in a day when I've been connected to Wifi points for most of the day... When I have the same sim card (network: three) in my iPhone 4, the equivalent usage is on average less than <3mb when I haven't been actively using the phone
I personally don't think that I should have to turn off data connection because Nokia doesn't know how to prioritise wifi over my data connection. I have a limited allowance, and having to switch data connection on/off all the time is annoying, for something other phones get right.
If I'm connected to a Wifi point, my 3g data connection should NEVER be used...
up until 2 days ago i could use wifi on my nokia 5800. My phone no longer appears to be able to connect to wlan. When I go to settings, connectivity the wlan settings option is no longer there. I dont understand what has happened to make this option disapear. I am using software version 30.0.011.
I have the nokia E75 and I have been able to use email through my home wifi network but recently I upgraded my plan with data service. I am able to browse the internet and everything else but my email will not sync. I have tried changing my email connection to use, GoRogers, Rogers Media and Rogers Internet. Gorogers and Rogers Media connect but they don't sync. Rogers Internet does not connect at all with any app I use. I use gmail btw. I live in Onatrio Canada if that helps any. I am really really frustrated with this as I got a data plan mainly for email.
I use TPlink wireless router as an access point to let my Nokia 5530 connect to internet. Now, i had changed the WPA pre-shared key in the router, but i can't change the setting of my phone, so, it always pop up an invalid key message, i can't connect to internet. Is there any way to reset the key of a wifi connection?
I've just got my new Nokia X6 a few days ago, and thought I'd play around a little with it. I then spotted an issue where I wasn't able to browse the internet (or any other internet application for that matter) without disconnecting the WiFi connection every time I want to load a new website or load a new page in the Ovi Store. The Router I am using is only running 54 Mbps, and I'm now using it with the password disabled, just to try if that changed anything, it didn't. I havn't been able to try using a 3G connection yet, as my service provider has somehow failed at supplying me with it at the moment.
I'm experiencing strange behavior in my Nokia 5630. When i got it i added 3 WiFi points without a problem to "Internet destinations". But recently, whenever i try to add an WiFi access point, it puts it into the "Uncategorised destinations". And i cannot move it to other folder (i select move, and choose Internet, but it throws me out to main menu). Because of this i cannot use new WiFi on applications which check the "Internet destinations" for available WiFis.And few unrelated questions:
- has anyone had experience with NCP VPN client for symbian?
- is there a application like Smart Connect for this phone? I think Smart Connect is only for N and E series?
I have a very annoying problem with my Nokia 5800 XM and the Spotify-app. I updated the app to v. 0.4.3.9 yesterday and it required that I uninstalled the old version first, i.e deleting all my cached tracks. Now today when I'm going to resync (on WLAN, since it's about 500 tracks) it just won't connect. I choose the correct WLAN from the list, but the app continues being blue (not green) and then the list pops up again. I read another discussion about almost the same thing a moment ago, so I tried to go to the menu and check the WLAN connection from its menu. So I did that, and it says my WLAN has full signal strength (I'm right next to the router) but then it loses the connection and asks me again which network I want to use. I have not had any issues with WLAN in any other app, and I have synced tracks with Spotify on my WLAN before, so I have no idea where the problem lies. Maybe something with the update and my WLAN? I don't know...
About the attachments: The list that shows several times and then the WLAN list where I'm connected to my network and it has full strength. "Marsvinsfarmen" is my network.
I have problem with nokia c5-03. all my office friends are using our office wifi in their nokia phones. but my phone 701 is connecting with wifi.. but no internet.. I reinstalled my device software also it is not working.
From time to time my N8(Belle) will not connect to my WiFi. When I look at the wifi-list my network is listed as "known", but not connected to. When I press on it the only options are Details and Delete the AP. I can't force the phone to connect to a specific AP, which would be nice.If I turn the phone off and on again, it finds the Wifi and connects to it just fine. But it really shouldn't be necessary to reboot it in the first place.
I've got a problem to update the firmware of my new nokia E5. I cannot do it using the phone only and a WI-fi connection (because there is only the option "update via PC" available). I have a Mac and no PC. I read that I can do it using iSync. So I downloaded the needed file and install it on my Mac. Now, my Mac and my phone are connecting but how can I do the firmware update?
I have Nokia 808 and when I try to Add new maps in Map Loader I get message: No connection to a WiFi network. But I'm connected to my WiFi network and that is very confusing to me.
I have nokia 5800. I am able to connect to my office wi-fi with this. And after connecting when I do Start Browsing, I am also able to browse sites successfully. But when I go to home screen -> menu -> internet -> facebook, and try to open it. It shows me "Connecting through AirTel" even though my wi-fi is still connected, this facebook is trying to connect to internet with my service provider internet. Can anybody please tell me how can I educate facebook application to use my wi-fi internet connection and not the service provider one?
