When I hooked the phone up to PC via USB and started up nokia software updater the software couldnt find my phone. I put the phone in PC SUITE mode but still no go. I also did I hard rest, reinstalled PC SUITE. The only way phone "talks" to the PC is via bluetooth but the only wo updates software is via usb cable.Please help.

I have tried this several times... even contacting HTC and the best they can do is say that it's a registry fault and I needed to obtain a registry cleaner/repairer. I tried this, no difference. Used Sony's own reg/cleaner as well as regcure pro. NO difference.... View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an E71, with both the firmware and Ovi Suite fully up to date. I am trying to install the latest Ovi Maps Software, according to the instructions:
Download Maps to your desktop or an easily accessible folder on your computer.

Install Maps using Nokia Ovi Suite e.g. double click on the Maps installer file. Finish the installation on your mobile. When I double click (with Ovi Suite open), windows cannot detect which program with which to open the software. I cannot see any option in Ovi Suite to open the software either. Have I missed something? Apologies if this is a obvious problem - I have searched and found related problems, but none of the fixes I have tried have worked. I've have tried going through the Ovi store on my phone, but when trying to login, I get a 'resource does not exist' message.
I'm getting really frustrated trying to Install the Ovi Suite Installer 2.2.0.241 on my Thinkpad T400. I still have about 8G free, but the installer hangs at about 50%. I have tried to install numerous times, with and without restarting the machine., but get the same unsuccessful results. For now I have to do with the Nokia PC Suite which was successfully installed, but I really look forward to using the OVI.
I just purchased a Nokia N97 mini after having spent 5 years on Windows Mobile due to hardward and software issues. I hope I did not make another mistake by moving back to Symbian! Even when I cancel the installation, it still hangs.

How do I stop the phone running this application when it boots?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a nokia 5800 Nav. Edition. Here is step by step issues I am facing with the phone:
1. Whenever I go to OVI Store it gives me a message saying that an Update is available and I need to install it before going forward. So when I click on Update button it takes me to several screens and finally Outpus saying that "Unable to start the operation. Installer is in use already."
2. In order to solve this issue I went through some of the discussion and found out that in order to get this problem addressed i need to follow the steps to Open the file manager and remove the Memory Card followed by Removing the Card physically.
3. This is when I realized that for some reason my memory card is stuck inside, so when I press it the dock seems to be releasing it but it refuses to come out completely.
4. Despite removing the memory card and undocking it I am still not able to apply the update to Ovi Store but this time the error message is different. Here are the steps:
a. I go to file manager and remove the memory card.
b. I undock it physically.
c. I start the Ovi Store and click on Update.
d. It goes through several screens as above and finally asks for Installation (this did not happen when Mem card was in).
e. It starts the installer but then aborts it saying "Update Error".
I am trying install Ovi Suite onto my PC at work so I can get back up and running again, after upgrading my Nokai handset. However the product fails to install. I keep getting the message: Initializing Failed. Unable to proceed with the installer execution My operating system is Win XP (SP3). What's the story?

However, when the installer gets to "Installing 2 of 6" it fails and gives the message "Installation Failed" followed by "To continue this installation later, select this icon in your application menu".
I have Googled and Googled and haven't managed to find a solution that doesn't require me to install a modified version of Symbian. Nothing else, including uninstalling and reinstalling the installer has worked.

Sometimes when I end a call it just switches itself off and on again. I even had a case where the battery went flat and I charged it for a while but had to take it off of charge but for some reason the bar still kept on moving up like it was charging. In all honesty I've only had problems with my phone and am kinda regretting not getting a Iphone instead. Please help as this phone will be flying out my car window on the highway if this keeps going on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought the N97 in October 09 (its now Feb 2010) and since then I've had multiple problems with this phone and each time something different! This phone has been nothing but problems and each time I take it in to be serviced I get it back almost a week later and within 24hrs it has already died again and generally wont even go past the nokia screen when rebooted or will freeze up and not turn on at all. I seem to be constantly having software and memory issues as well as having problems accessing the applications and the touch screen being temperamental even tho I have asked for these problems to be fixed on each occasion. This time I went back to the Nokia Care centre and spoke to the Manager and all he could tell me was that he's done what he had to do and that he is not obliged to do anymore and I can keep bringing it back when it fails as it is under warranty.
I am highly disappointed in this phone, it has given me nothing but problems and even more annoyed and disappointed in the staff at the Care Centre. I actually wonder if they actually do check the phone and fix it properly especially since it keeps dying and I havent even used it. I also have a list of about 42 people who have had multiple problems and issues with their N97 and continue to have problems despite getting it serviced. Is anyone else in the same boat? How I can get out of my contract or actually get my phone fixed without having to go thru this again or being patronised by the store manager again?
I can download it, but the installed then says it can't open the file.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Nokia Ovi Player has ceased to function following an automated update of Windows 7. The update included 7 security tweaks, a malicious code remover tool and a security update specifically mentioning Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. When I restore the computer to a point previous to the updates, the Ovi Player works fine. I can only presume that there is a conflict as a result. The messages I receive tell me; "There has been a problem starting Ovi Player. Running the Repair option for Ovi Player in the Add Remove Programs section of Windows Control Panel may resolve this problem." Followed by; "Nokia Ovi Player has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem." Neither method fixes the issue. Any ideas? My phone is the Nokia 5800 and I have been successfully downloading music as part of the Comes With music package for 11 months.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia N97 and carrier service through AT&T. I subscribe to a monthly packet data plan which I have been using with my N97 for several months without issue. Several days ago my phone was no longer able to connect to the internet using my packet data connection. I was only unable to use the data connection with certain applications. The data connection would not work with the Ovi Store shortcut, Nokia Maps, the Nokia Web application, or the AP News widget. However, I was able to receive emails on Nokia Messaging through my data connection, and I was able to run my Fring application on it as well. I performed a hard reset which did not fix the problem.
I tried to adjust my network mode under the connectivity setting from Dual Mode to GSM, but that also did not have any effect. I then tried to run the setting wizard through phone setup to have it define my operator settings for internet, ect. After the wizard updated my settings I am now able to access the internet through the Nokia web application using my data connection. But maps and the ovi store still cannot connect using this connection.I have tried changing the connection settings under the maps application, but this has made no difference. Any help or advice would be very appreciated.
Our company has recently bought 220pcs of nokia 2710 (brand new). After using them for 3days (8 hour shifts) GPS started to fail - the GPS icon just disappears and GPS itself does not send any new data. Some of the phones recover after a full restart others don't.I have called Nokia support and according to them if the GPS icon is missing the phone is defect.We have already replaced 30 phones under warranty, but each day new ones are affected by this issue. I suspected there might be some energy saving feature (although most users have the car charger connected all the time) or other option which turns off the GPS, but again Nokia support says no. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue or are the phones just not built for 8hour GPS standby?
