After problem with my memory storage when I havent be able to install any app because it was saying that I have not enough space but I had 26gb :-)
so I reinstall FW and was o.k.BUT now I have another problem!!after going to app manager its telling me that there was some problem with loading of some catalogs.mostly it was maemo's then ovi and nokia app refresh
having trouble with the application catalogs in the application manager. when i try to download the applications, the following catalogs fail to refresh.

facing this problem since pretty long...(could be since past 2 months...) its bugging me and i desperately need to download apps from these catalogs like boot menu and many more... asking the N900 gurus for the solution..
We are from Guadeloupe in French West Indies. Guadeloupe is a french overseas department, thus we are considered as european customers.
One of our N900 had his micro USB port broken like others cases in /t5/Maemo-Devices/Nokia-responds-to-reports-about-the-N900-micro-usb-port-getting/td-p/629019
So, 2 months ago, We went to the local Nokia Care Point (there is only one in Guadeloupe). We went today to this shop to have news about my mobile and, the guy explained me that the nokia's factory bring them up the phone and could'n repair it... He gave me back my phone, but he didn't give me back my poor little micro-USB port.
So, I have 2 questions :
First : what are the solutions proposed by Nokia for the customers in French West Indies (Guadeloupe and Martinique) ?
Second : why do you propose low quality services for us (comparatively with "normal" customers from France) ?
took my shiny new n900 out of my pocket only to discover the lcd is cracked. I have spoken to vodafone who say it can be repaired under warranty free of charge. do you think this is correct ?.I was not sure if accidental damage is covered. Dont want to be landed with a big bill if they repair it outside of warranty. i was only sat in a chair when lcd cracked, not dropped or fell on, i thought it was a bit tougher that this.

But now a days whenever I open application manager it immediately gives the message "Operation Failed". But the window remains open. Even download from OVI was also not allowed before and after this message started coming.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed a program from app manager , I dont remember the name of te application...everthing was installed correctly...then later I uninstalled and restarted the device.....but now the device only shows me a lot of small letters and restarts again. when I try to flash the phone in a xp 32 bit computer the system shows me that the driver is corrupted....and dont let me do the flash proccess wiht the maemo flasher 3.5.

However, I got stuck on step one because I have not yet used the Desktop Manager, and cannot figure out how to get past the initial DM welcome screen with my broken phone.My phone won't currently connect to DM because the phone can't properly start up. I need to get into Desktop Manager to access the Application Loader to fix my app error 523 problem.

It seems that it's impossible to send configuration message via email.nokia.com, as there is no longer a link to "re-install" the email software.Now it only says "go to email.nokia.com with your mobile phone browser", and when you do, you do get to download the SW, but you don't get the proper configuration message, thus the email is set up in the "inbox way", which is **bleep**..

I went to ask for a spare part but I found it expensive. What made me hesitating is that someone told me that the preinstalled cover is much better than the one I buy from the nokia care service. Recently I discover that when I use the web browser to see webpages, some pictures/icons of the webpages won't be able to show correctly and end up showing the broken icon (the icon of a picture torn in half). For example, sometimes the icon of an app in the ovi store can't show correctly and becomes the broken icon. That also happens when I use facebook with the N97, where some avatars of my friends become that broken icon.Does anyone know what the cause of the problem is?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAm working in China where I bought a N97 last year. When pulling the phone out of the wallet (supplied by Nokia) last week the slide lock split and fell off. When my secretary took it to the Care Centre to get it fixed (her Chinese is better than mine) they charged RMB200 (about 20 pounds) to repair it. Is this normal? They said that even though the lock was probably faulty I could not prove it.When I called Nokia Care all they could say was 'this is our policy in China'. I like the phone but cannot stand the Nokia customer service these days.

But my mic doesnt work at all.It's pretty much brand new (my dad used it for a few days but didnt like the QWERTY keyboard for texting) and i remember getting a phone call a day or two ago and it was fine.Anyone have any tips or tricks i can try before i send it off for a repair?I'll be phoneless until its fixed because non of my spare phones take micro sims.. and my past experience with sending phones for repairs involved long waits to get them back..

But now when I am using the build in browser to surf to the mobile Facebook website i have broken image links.I don't see the facebook logo, the mobile phone icons But, i can see the people's pictures!When i completely reset my phone it all works again.But a day or two later I have the same problem. And only the Facebook page has this problem, no other website.I don't have the problem when using Opera as a browser, but I want to use the build-in one.The only software I have installed on my phone is Skype, Ovi shop, and Nokia E-mail... In personalisation it definitely shows Contacts as what it should be opening. Any ideas to fix?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi had my n900 for a while now.camera lens cover(top part) has peeled off from its glue and the wire makes the cover open and close came loose by itself. i have the warranty but i do not want to send my phone just for the cover for 2 weeks. is there any place on web that i can order the lens cover only and replace it my self. its very east to remove since its plastic base.i only have the blue base on the phone now and it is loose so its keep opening the camera mode. very annoying. please help.

(There are about 5-10 in my neighbourhood and I have my own wireless router.) Also, if I go to "Setting" -> "Connectivity" -> "Internet Connections" and then try to setup a new connection and scan for "available wi-fi networks" it doesn't find any. Even if I enter the setting by "hand" (i.e., my SSID etc.) I cannot connect, nor does it show the connection as available.Does anyone have an idea how I can find out whether that's a hardware problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThree days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.
