Nokia Lumia :: 920 Still Freezes Even After Portico Update
Dec 21, 2012
Just would like to let the powers that be know that my yellow AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 (which I love!) is still having problems with freezing even after the latest update which I installed on 12-19-2012. I'm wondering if this problem will ever be fixed or if I should just resign myself to this issue and accept it as part of owning this device? I really enjoy my Lumia phone, having moved from the iPhone. In fact, I enjoy it so much, I'm hoping a tablet version would be made. However, if the problem with the phone continues for another week, I may have to call AT&T to get a replacement 920.
[URL]Nokia says: "Because we're committed to providing a fantastic experience to our Lumia 920 and 820 customers, we are releasing a software update that brings a number of enhancements initially to the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 at AT&T in the United States and to the Lumia 920 at Rogers in Canada."This is the 'Portico' update (1232.5951.1249.0001) and many Lumia 920 users in the US (AT&T) and Canada (Rogers) have been able to update their phones today (12/19) as seen in these pages -

I have a Lumia 920 and I'm an AT&T customer living in San Francisco, California, yet when I go to "Settings -> Phone Update -> Check For Updates." I get the update status: "Your phone is up to date. Last checked 2 seconds ago" When I check "Settings > System > About", it still says "Firmware revision number: 1232.2109.1242.1001"I received this Lumia 920 at the Microsoft "Build" developers conference in Seattle last month. enable the "1232.5951.1249.0001" update for 'Build' Lumia 920 phones?
Just bought the 920 and updated with Portico. On most emails it requires you to tap "download message" to see the entire message. This process is taking WAY TOO LONG (ten minutes for a very short email).
I have a red 920.So I charged my battery to 100% and took it off the charger. This was in the middle of the night (yes, I'm a night owl). But I did it because I wanted to test it with absolutely no use. So I set the wifi to always on and left the phone. four hours later I checked the battery. It was down to 60%. This was after absolutely no use. The only thing I have is two email accounts set to fetch every hour.
i then recharged to 100% again, changed the wifi settings back to the original setting and left it for another 4 hours. The battery was down to 63%. Not that much different from setting wifi to always on.However, previously my phone would lose at most 1% after idle for even 8 hours. As I stated my battery life has always been very good.the only difference was the OS update, no new apps, no setting changes, etc. I have to assume it was the update. I know it's not really scientific and partially anecdotal but it is what it is.
Well I really had my hopes up for this phone, and dumped my iPhone 5 for it... now I regret it, the phone freezes almost everyday it froze the 2nd day I bought it while I was talking through a Bluetooth headset, the day after that it froze while switching between calls... and today it also froze while I was talking through my car's Bluetooth set... I don't know what's the problem with this phone and also the camera is not that good and doesn't deserve all that hype. Nokia & Microsoft you'd better fix these issues because although the Lumia 920 has many good features, I can't stand it for this regularly freezing.
P.S. I'm currently in Saudi Arabia and the Nokia Care staff here are totally useless, shame on you Nokia you should've hired a qualified staff at least.
I am observing the following issue with my Nokia Lumia 900 while charging. The issue happens when the phone's battery has just died and the phone turns off. If I plug the charger to the phone right at that time the screen will cycle between black - showing a battery sign - and showing an all white screen.... Then black again. The cycle can go forever. The first time it happened I left the phone plugged for 3 hours. I thought it was going to power up but it never did, and the battery was not charged at all. While this is happening the phone doesnt respond to any buttons. Even if I hold the power button for long there is no response. While this happens the 3 on-screen buttons (back / home / search) are lit. The only way I have been able to stop the cycle is to unplug it and wait several minutes.
I have had my Lumia for 10 days and for the second time it crashes during the night and the next morning I was not able to turn it on using the power button. I had to do a soft reset... The alarm that I set to wake me up never started... This means that I cannot trust my phone for waking me up in the morning! This is unacceptable!
I am having a problem while playing music that is stored on the device in my collection (not streaming). I try to play a song and it says "opening". Then the song comes in and out sporadically for a couple of seconds. Then it stops for about two minutes and then plays again for a few seconds. Sometimes it plays fine, but I notice that when I am at the health club, the problem always occurs. Could it be a connection issue even if the music is stored locally and not being streamed?
I just got my new lumia 920, and apperently my store was in sweeden. So i got the phone, turned it on and changed the language to norwegian, it freezes up all the time. and i have to do a hard reset (volume down + powerbutton)
And then i did a factory reset.. and i thought.. maybe it works okey if i leave it on sweedish..
So i turned it back to norwegian and it started to freeze up again. And why do the clock reset when doing a hard reset ? thats the only thing that reset back to factory default when i do hard reset.
And for some reason it looks like it's working okey now when the battery is less than 14 %, wich make my phone kind of useless..
Sometimes my touchscreen freezes up when im unlocking the phone, it may happen when sliding up the lock screen or when entering the password i set for it to unlock.I have to turn my screen off and back on again to get it to work properly again. It's not a huge problem, but it gets irritating when receiving a call and not being able to answer it without turning your screen off and on.
This started happening recently, already tried a factory reset which didnt work obviously.Deleted all applications i had installed, and made sure all applications were closed properly by using the back button.
So I'm having my Nokia Lumia 710 from 2012 February. I tried to record videos but there are 2 different ways how my phone handles it. After making a video, it freezes (The screen freezes, the last picture of the video is visible, it's probably saving) and than, the video is gone. The phone locks itself, and the video+music library doesn't contain my video. The phones saves my video (happened only a few times...), but when I'm looking it back (on PC and on phone) it's lagging, and pictures fall out... Seconds fall out from the video, but the sound is running. The picture freezes sometimes, and the sound is running.
I have my lumia 800 for a week, and now its happening something strange.. When I'm in a call for some time, and I want to end it the phone doesn't let me. Its still responsive, I can go to the start screen, etc.. but the phone call remains on top with the message "ENDING". After a couple of minutes the phone freezes completely and reboot.
I need a little help here. My Nokia N95 8gb was working fine until I decided to do a firmware update. After the firmware update I decided to also update the maps using the map downloader since there are some roads missing in my area. Now the phone itself itself is working fine but I have a problem with the map navigation. I have a 2 year license for navigation for Southern Africa. Since the map update the phone will freeze when trying to calculate a route. You select your destination and when you select "Drive to" it goes back to the map, "Calculating route" appears in the top left corner and the map occasionally spins from North orientation and back again.I tried to restore a backup that I did before I undertook all these changes but it has made no difference to the map. I noticed on the new maps that there are dotted lines in the middle of the roads on the map. These did not appear on the previous map version that I had. The version I updated to is v2.0 wk24 b02.

I did a firmware update on my e52 about a week or two ago and since then my phone has crashes and freezes when I plug it to my computer via USB cable and select PC Suite. It just crashes and the only thing that helps is removing the battery and even after that I need to repeat the battery removal for 2-3 times until it finally responds. Otherwise when I push the button to switch it on it just shakes, the screen stays blank and nothing else happens.
I have a bug while trying to install Nokia Store v3.30.014. The install hangs on a white screen with the text "Please wait. Installation will take few minutes" and a progress bar which never shows anything. I let the phone this morning on this screen for about 30 mins, so I think it just hangs with no action.More on this I tried reporting this using support for in the store, but it gives an error saying that I have errors in fields marked with red, but none are red or showing any error (I have only message field, email which is actually just showing my account email as text
After updating to firmware version 40, I have a freezing video problem. When I play video file (.mp4), it starts playing as always but after a while image freezes but sound continues playing. No way forwarding video, the freezed image is always there but sound plays normally.I have Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, firmware version 40.2.005.263.04.Everything else is working correctly in the phone after update to 40 firmware. Is it a problem that could be solved?
My phone has started to freeze when unlocking it, and sometimes when exiting an application. It basically stays on whatever screen was currently being shown with the navigation bar active (the back button, windows key etc), but none of the buttons work. The power button and volume buttons also have zero effect. This happens with both Windows Hello enabled and disabled (I sort of thought it was windows Hello related, but it doesn't appear to be).
How do you reboot the Lumia 1020 after it freezes? I had it freeze once before and it eventually restarted after maybe 10 minutes.
I just updated my phone and it worked fine but all of a sudden it seems to be locked up. The glance display works, but no button works. If I plug in the charger, the log in display shows but it froze once I put in the 4th digit. Now it shows all digits once the display turns off and I plug it back in.
I just got the new lumia 950 xl in the mail after i put in my old sd card the phone gets stuck on the boot up is it a phone problem or is the card broken...
i'm updating my blackberry to 6.0 - 2534,but already 3 hours have past and it didn't even move a little. It just stays @ backing up third party applications. Will my BB crash if i would disconnect it from my laptop?im wondering since it was still busy with backing up and not with updating yet.BTW: i got a Curve G3 9300?
I have been trying to complete the software update for BB Curve 9300 but it is locked with a message = "Update requires additional memory. Removing older data." This message has been on for close to 12 hours! How do I stop this. All keys are locked. I can turn off the phone but when I turn it back on I get the same message.
I tried to update from 6.0 Bundle 2342 to 6.0 Bundle 2647 and during the installation, it will update to a certain module and then freeze. An hour later, I will get a pop up that says there is a problem with my internet connection and the options to retry or cancel. I hit retry and the update will run a little further, then freeze again. At this point it's been 3 hours, and I've gotten as far as 357 of 578. This is the first time I've tried to update, and I did a back up right before I attempted this update.
