Nokia :: 6730 / Ovi Suite Does Not Recognise Phone
Apr 28, 2010
Have downloaded ovi suite to computer and now trying to register my phone, nokia 6730. When asked to connect phone by USB after connected the program recognises my phone but will not let me continue to next stage as it says the device is not in pc suite mode, which it is. Have tried unplugging and reconnecting as suggested.
I have recently purchased a 16GB Micro SD Card for my Nokia 5800, and I am having problems when trying to put music on.
I noticed that my 8GB SD card is in different folders, and have tried copying them onto the 16GB SD card but the phone doesn't recognise any of it. Is there any specific way to expand my phones memory using an SD card to enable me to add music.
I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
my 6730 classic started fogging up in the top right hand corner of the screen, which has also affected the light sensor and camera. how do i fix this and prevent it in the future?
I am trying to use my Nokia without the data connection but the Ovi Maps can't find any address even I downloaded the local map. The GPS works well but looks like that the navigation application can't read the map unless I search that place manually. If I don't, it just tells me "no results in offline mode". What is wrong? Now it´s just an electronic map, not a real navigator. I´m using the Ovi Maps 3.04 and the phone is 6730 Classic.
I got this phone 3 months ago, and it paired with PC Suite perfectly, till few days ago, when i lost connection with it, and now PC Suite and OVI Suite can't find my phone. I checked bluetooth device that im using, and made sure that phone bluetooth is on. In Attachment is shown how PC Suite and Bluetooth react when i try to reconnect the phone.
I tried to install Nokia PC Suite for my Nokia 6730, but without success, because the system says: "The older version of Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver cannot be removed."What can I do ?
I have one problem I can't connect my phone to Pc suite I do everything what I need and it still says that I have to tun on pc suite mode on my phone even when it's on what could be the problem? My phone is E72 THX for help BTW same is with ovi suite its says that my phone is not in PC suite mod and it can't recognize but I tuned pc suite usb mode on phone and I also what to conect to map loader but I can't as weal.
All I've purchased an E72 about 2 weeks ago and am still using it in 'trial' mode using my second line. I have the following problems. Can someone assist please: 1. On the E72 phone one can edit the Contacts field titles (eg change the "Postal/Zip" field to "Postcode", or add fields like "Mobile 2". However using the PC Suite on the PC, none of these changes show up. Eg, I added a "Title" prefix on the phone but it doesn't show upon the PC. 2. The Contacts fileds seem not to be 'smart' enough, ie if one edits/changes the fields on the phone, then on the PC Suite it gets tabulated in the wrong column. So, editing the filed titles is really pointless, infact it is counter productive! 3. To search CONTACTS, only the First Name, Last Name and Company fields are searchable. Other fields like Phone No, City, etc cannot be the basis of a search. True? 4. The long-press "Contacts" key does not go to the "New Contact". It works for other functions, but not New Contact. Anyone know how to resolve this ? 5. For Calendar entries, a few fours AFTER the alarm time set, I get a pop-up message saying something like .... some alarm events were passed due to "time change". What time change is it talking about? Weird thing is I then miss the appointment. so what use is this calendar thing? 6. The application shortcuts on the standby screen (those little icon shortcuts) ... is it possible to have more, say on 2 lines? 7. The E72 seems to be only able to keep call logs for a max of 30 days? Anyway to increase that? similarly, can I keep SMSs for longer periods? My Palm Treo 600 (used since 2003), was able to do all the above things ... but 6 years later, Nokia's "for the serious business user" phone cannot do most of the simple things a smartphone should be able to do. I like the phone, especially its slim form factor and all the other bells & whistles (video, movies, music works well) but I DO WANT a phone that can integrate with my PC.There ought to be laws out there on the use of the term 'smartphone'
I have just bought Nokia N86 8MP. I have installed OVI Suit on my laptop. But I amd not able to configure my phone with OVI suite. After connecting my cell with my laptop I select PC Suit USB Mode from my cell phone. On the second step (Connect Device) of OVI Suite configuration the name of my phone is visible but when I select, A popup message is displayed that This device is not in PC Suite USB mode. And the 'Next' button is greyed out.
I am the proud owner of a new E52. I love the phone and the battery life is superb and I'd like to keep it that way. While I'm at work I use the data cable normally to connect the phone to pc suite and I use pc suite to respond to sms etc. However I notice the E52 also charges on usb. I love this feature but I wanted to ask will this decrease the battery life or shorten its life span. I would like sure answers if possible and not just hunches as I really dont want to damage the battery.
I have a Nokia 5800.My computer recognizes the phone, ovi suite does not, it did before.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.Different versions. Using 'repair' in Programs and Features.
I had been using Ovi Suite to sync my PC and 5230 and was having no trouble. But I tried connecting today (almost afetr a month's gap) and now the Ovi suite doesn't recognize my mobile. My PC is able to recognize the device but Ovi doesn't. And I've updated the Ovi suite too. Please help...
Can i tranfer data from PC suite to OVI Suite - I need transfer all data from Nokia 6230i to new Nokia 6303 classic, or how to do it?. N 6230i is not connectable to OVI suite!
How can I make my nokia E71 sync back with PC Suite after I started using OVI Suite? I have a Nokia E71, and i was using Nokia PC Suite to sync it with my outlook 2007 it all worked fine, contacts, to do notes and calendar (i wasn't syncing mail cuase i use gmail), untill the new ovi suite came out and i decided to try it since It sounded better.turns out It really sucked this ovi suite!! one of the worst softwares I've ever used, it duplicated all of the appointments that had color categories in outlook 2007, it is dead slow to sync!!!(i mean reeeaaly slow), even tough the Suite integrates more stuff in to one place it has reduced funcionality to sync stuff with my phone, it offers less funtions, not to mention that the user interface sukcs (its poorly desingned, it takes long to accses stuff, it shows me stuff as if it was advertisement).PC suite was very simple but funcional, oviously i went back to pc suite, to my surprise i couldn't sync, pc suite & the phone would do as if they were syncing, but when i checked at the end it wouldn't sync stuff.
I have a nokia 6210 navigator and I can't get it to connect to my PC by the USB cable. It worked fine about a week ago and now it won't connect. I have updated the software and it still won't connect, when I plug the lead in to the phone it says "USB connected in PC suite but the PC suite dose not recognise the phone. When I try to connect within the PC suite it still doesn't find the phone.
I have a Nokia 5800 and it has broken sadly. I was using the PC suite to edit and move stuff from my phone memory before I send it back, and I was just wondering how I copy or move the contacts from the phone memory to either the memory card or the SIM card.
I recently purchased a new N900 phone. After installing pc suite and connecting the phone to pc suite, I did not know what I did, but I found out my device now has all duplicate files/folders such as 2 video files, 2 music files .etc and they are all identical.
I spent an afternoon trying to have my new BT dongle (reeking transparent 2.0) working and after a lot of problem I won. When I rebooted my PC (xp sp3) and launched again Ovi suite I had no problems but now Ovi can't see my N82, while PC and phone are connected! One time I somehow got Ovi to see N82 but I had to add it as a new device, even if I already did before.
I'm trying to transfer all my appointments from the calendar on a 6300 to a 6303i using PC Suite. They all came across an hour later. (Contacts and messages all came across OK) So I went back and checked the 6300 - all correct. Linked the 6300 to my PC using PC Suite and viewed appointments directly - lo and behold, an appointment showing as 11:45am on the phone, shows as 12:45 on the PC screen! I presume this is something to do with daylight saving, since both phone and PC are set to GMT. The 6300 does not have a daylight saving setting, so I simply re-set the time myself, but maybe the PC Suite software automatically does it? But if so, why change the time of the appointments, surely this was only a problem if you changed timezones (e.g. to GMT +1) in the old days?Anyone out there have any suggestions as I don't want to have to re-input a year's worth of appointments!
I have an E72 and a PC running windows 7 professional.
I am completely unable to install OVI suite. The installation hangs every time. I have tried several times. Firstly from the installer that shipped with the phone (this just hung - no message), then from the most up to date version downloaded from the website. With this latter I get a message saying "an error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MC,processorArchitecture="x86",publictoken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32". Please refer to help and support for more information
I have seen similar posts to this on the forum - most of which suggested uninstalling PC suite and then trying the install again. However, I have never had PC suite on this machine.
A problem occurs when I try to connect my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in PC suit mode. I have a PC that uses windows Vista. It shows the problem with the MTP driver. MTP driver is not successfully installed. what should I do?
Have a N900. Got the phone to work against Smart Suite and later Ovis Suite very well for the first 3 weeks. Then the trouble started. I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? Hope for help without re-intsalling the machine.
i am having major issues with my e51 and pc suite! The s.ware support 4 my phone is not loading, and when i tried the new ovi suite as an alt. the software is not compatable with my phone! How is my phone going 2 get updates if i can only update via p2 suite?
After upgrading my 5800XM to v40 and upgrading to the latest PC suite and software updater versions on my PC, my phone no longer connects with the computer with the error message "cannot authenticate phone" with bluetooth. If I try USB connection, the OS crashes while trying to install phone software (windows 7 pro, Dell Inspiron 6400). I have uninstalled and re-installed all nokia software on the PC and still got the same results. Even without PC suite, the phone does not connect through the PC bluetooth anymore.
I've been using iTunes 9.2 Beta and iOS 4 GM for a while now. When iTunes 9.2 was officially released, Software Update did not pick it up because I was already running the 9.2 Beta. Will the same apply to when iOS4 is released tonight since I'm running the GM version now? If so, will the .ipsw file be available separately so that I can perform a restore like I did to install the GM version?
my desktop software cudnt recognise my fone via usb, i dont have bluetooth, tried many ways to no avail !!, so i tried a battery pull an inserted my usb an had the option to update my device software, so i clicked on it an it was uploading fine, until, it came up a box saying "cannot connect to device, insert battery an click retry" so i inserted the battery and continued, but as the phone came alive the white initializing bar shot up to around halfway thru, an got the same error 507 again, an the installation will not continue? c the same error occurs when the usb is unplugged too?
