Nokia :: 5800 WLAN Mac Filtering / With Linksys Router
Jan 15, 2010
I recently bought the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and tried to connect to the internet via my Linksys ADSL wireless router. As i have added MAC Filtering to keep wireless network safe, i tried to add my 5800's MAC in the filter list. but when i tried to save the settings an error message popped up saying "The MAC address cannot be the Multipart Address.".Any thoughts on what that means? or what should i do?The connection works fine if i dont apply the MAC filtering. It is might be some problem at router end.
Does Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic browsing have an issue with WPA2 encryption and MAC filtering? I noticed that my unit browses a lot slower in my N-router with WPA-Personal encryption and MAC filtering as compared to my Wireless G router with WEP security and NO MAC filtering.
I bought my mom a E63. When I se it up, everything worked perfectly. It would find my router at home and conect to it, it would find wireless hotspots everywhere and connect to them etc... Now, all of the sudden, it will not find anything anymore. Even if I am standing in front of my router, it will say "No WLAN network found".
I just updated her phone to the newest firmware and reset everything to factory defaults, and the phone still refuses to find any WLAN's. I went into the menu and made sure that it does show WLAN availability etc...
I am using Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Phone for some months. The problem started a month ago when I tried to connect to my WLAN router. There is a security key on my router but when I connect through my Nokia Phone, it doesn't ask for any key (with my Laptop, I can connect to the WLAN with the preshared key). It simply connects to the router without they key and when I start browsing, it says "No Gateway Reply". Thinking this might be the settings problem I soft reset my phone but still the problem remains. The point is, it only does this with my own router. Anyone know how to sort this out?
My 5800 xm will not connect to the internet via my netgear dg834gt router. The phone connects to the wifi connection but it will not load up a web page.It will work via 3g.I've been through the routers settings and the phones mac address is there and is set for access the same as my pc (which is working fine).
recently i can't browse the web or use any free messaging apps such as nimbuzz on my nokia 5800 (fw version 21.0) finland made, but clearly indicates that it's connected to wlan...the ones i used before (in my home & @ my work).i noticed it started when i was waiting for a video in Internet to finish buffering, then halfway to it it suddenly went back to my main screen. when i tried again, same thing happens. then i try to log-in to facebook or any website... first it will give the impression that its connecting but then, juz a couple of seconds or less, it willl suddenly revert back to my phone home screen.this started a couple of weeks back, and now the bluetooth too is f***ed-up!because my laptop can't see it, while yesterday it can.it seems that mines the first one with this kind of problem bcoz i can't find any forum discussing this issue.
I've tried lots of things and still no joy. Basically, my 5800 (with v50.0 firmware) keeps losing my wlan - even when sat physically next to it. It doesn't lose connection (since it's not connected), it loses (apparently loses) the wlan signal but immediately finds it again - all whilst I am sat watching it within the connectivity->wlan page.I have sat there, with my laptop running a signal analyser, poling every 500ms and the router's signal doesn't drop at all, yet my phone is sat next to it and every so often it'll show my wlan go from "known" to "unknown" and the signal goes from 100% to none. 8/10 my phone will connect to my wlan for internet use or downloading emails, 2/10 it'll resort to contract WAP since it believes my wlan is unavailable. My wlan broadcasts on a channel that is not overlapped by my neighbours, and my laptop shows a constant 100% signal strength, regardless of other wlans that may or may not be broadcasting (those wlans that do occasionally appear are very weak, and the 5800's dropping doesn't appear to coincide with their temporary appearance).
The wlan is running in 802.11g mode, and is WPA protected. I have tried having no security on it, same problem. I have tried adding the MAC address to the router, same problem. My wife has the same phone, same firmware, and hers does the same thing - except at different times (it's not like the both drop sight of the wlan at the same time). It appears, though I can't be sure, that if I go in through the connectivity->wlan page and choose my wlan and "connect" to it, then it stays connected and never drops. Unfortunately, this isn't an acceptable work-around since I have configured my phone to periodically check for emails and I don't want to have to remember every time I come home to manually connect, etc.Can anyone please suggest a course of action or investigation for me to undertake, since this is really, REALLY starting to confuse me!
I just bought a Nokia 5800 XM. However, there seems to be a problem with WLAN connectivity. The phone can successfully search for available networks, and when I choose "Connect" the WLAN icon appears at the top right corner (as if it successfully connected). But, when I try to use the web browser, it pops up connectivity options (as if it is not connected to any WLAN network even though the antenna icon is there). I can choose the same WLAN from the options, but then it says "connection already active" and fails. When I open connection manager it doesn't list any active connections. A strange situation! I've upgraded its software to the latest version but that didn't solve the problem. Any ideas why this may be happening and how to solve it?
I just upgraded my Nokia 5800 to the latest firmware and now my WLAN always gives me the 'INvalid Server Name' issue and also my vibration alert has stopped working for all profiles. please HElp.I have tried everything on the other discussion board. It dosent help.
I am really desperate so I made account here I ask u for help. I tried everything what I know before this , also I Restart my phone and format my memory card but still I have a problem. Problem is that I am connected to wireless but I cannot surf the internet it simply stay on 0kb also I tried more browsers(opera) but nothing few days ago everything is perfect Other phones (nokias ) can still surf P.S. I never update my phone, version is v20 (a cannot update when I tip *#0000# it says me no servers... something in that way ) but it worked before on same version.Nokia Xpress Music 5800
This is my first time here and I have a problem in my 5800 express music and that problem is: Every time I want to use internet via WLAN or 3G I got this message (no gateway reply).
Since upgrading to firmware v50.0.005 my 5800xm started to run out of battery after 10-12 hours. After some tests, uninstalling programs, deleting all WLAN Connections etc I found out that this is caused by unwanted WLAN connections to known WLANs. How can i solve this? This happens only at home or in my office (where I use wlan) , there are no applications running and nothing is allowed to sync automatically. But after some minutes when I unlock my 5800, I can see the wlan antenna - but when I want to check the connection, it disappears.I never had battery or WLAn issues, but since upgrading to v50 when i forget to connect it to the charger overnight the battery has drained and is empty. For finding open WLAn and for easy connections I use WeFi since I own my 5800. This never caused me any problem. But I have read through the Support Discussion and some other boards on the web: There are many others that suffer from battery drain after upgrading to Firmware v50.So please check whether this may also be related to unwanted WLAN traffic on your 5800:I stayed a few days in a hotel where there was no WLAN. I tried to upgrade again to Firmware v50 again via PC and cable, not OTA again. The battery lasted for three days as before (but remeber there was no WLAn available!)As soon as I was back home, the 5800 begain to connect again in standby estimated every 10 minutes to my home WLAN. I can see this in the router´s connected devices. When I unlock the 5800 I see that WLAN is active and connected, a second later, or if I click on the icon, the connection disappears Simply bad, because when I forget my phone charger in the evening to hang on in the morning it is empty.Perhaps these guys have the same problem: /t5/Connectivity/5800-Wifi-Bug/m-p/410781 but I never ever had photo exchange, skype, fringe or else installed. I have changed nothing before or after the upgrade to v50, I have not installed new software or else.
my bold 9780 doesn't detect the wifi of my router. The wireless router is a cisco linksys E2000. First I thought the wifi of the cellphone was broke, but when I walk down the street I pick up every single wifi signal there is. I've adjusted the safety settings of the router from WPA to WPA2 to WEP, didn't work. I've read somewhere that it could be that I had to install a certificate to be able to see the modem, but where do I get that?
My phone successfully connected to my Linksys router and my browser is working due to the hotspot option. However I'm unable to access the internet with any of my other apps. The three key apps I'd like to connect to are Windows Live Messenger, AOL Messenger and my e-mail (Hotmail).
I have recently migrated to the Desire HD from Nokia E71. And while Im in awe of every new feature I discover with each passing second, theres a problem with the wifi system thats driving me nuts.
My DHD recognises and connects to my home wifi (Linksys E1000) but is unable to browse or run any app that requires internet access (Facebook, Twitter, Maps etc). At the same time, upon disabling wifi, it manages to do everything (browse, FB, twitter etc) on the GPRS connection of my teleco. Hence the problem (I think) is with the router and not the DHD.
I have spent a whole day looking for possible solutions on the web - upgraded to Linksys E1000 from my earlier WRT54G, Changed the channel from 13 to 6 (and experimented with others as well), Reserved the DHD in the DHCP of the router, Changed the security to WPA2 PSK - In short, almost everything I read would fix the problem, but to no avail.
my mom's Wifi is called Linksys and I had added to the list of Wifi's to automatically connect to.
Well, it just happens that "Linksys" is also the name of other hundreds of Wifi's all over the place, and my E6 keeps on trying to connect to them. I have tried many times to disconnect from this network but the phone attempts reconnecting right away.
How can I completely remove Linksys off the list of connectable networks? The main problem is that sometimes I am at a place with this Linksys network and the phone thinks it is supposed to be connecting to it but in reality it cant (maybe secured?) and I end up with no connection because the phone thinks it is connecting to Linksys.
How to filter contacts in "Messaging "? Actually when I type a word in filter part, it searches among text of messages and doesn't show the contacts....
It seems like the custom view In the Galaxy S6 Contacts app is not functioning correctly. The app, which looks very similar to the stock Lollipop app, has the option of displaying a customized view. In it, you can check off what you want to display. For example, you can show contacts from Google Plus, Facebook, Waze, etc. I uncheck everything and only have My Contacts (which is a type of group in Google Contacts), and Starred in Android.
What actually gets displayed is seemingly every contact I have, or anyone that's ever emailed me.
I have a Nexus 5 also logged into the same Gmail account and it's Contacts display is perfect.
Yesterday when i bought the phone at the mall I was able to briefly connect to a wifi spot using nokia 5530 .But when I got home I couldnt connect to my router which also has wireless capabilities , now when I search for network throught the phone I cant see my router ! Im beggining to think this is because I use PPPOE that I also connect my pc to internet ? what should I do to get wireless to my phone too I dont see an option on the phone that asks for PPPOE username and password ,how do I get this ressolved ?
I have this inconvenience with my wi-fi on my mobile. I just got it brand new the other day and have been happy with it. But it seems my wi-fi is always connected with my home router, even if i disconnect it, it reconnects a minute later. Please could someone post a solution, i've been trying to find this all over the net.
I'm comparing to my 5530, On the contacts bar it nicely blends into the back ground, on the 5800 is a dirty oversized white block with the contact in the middle, no blending in or anything, same on the email, a horrible big white square, nothing blended in, I've tried different themes, and reflashed but no good.
I have a Nokia N95 and i got problem with wifi networks. I can join and surf on the internet, when im in unsecured router, but mine router is WPA and settings in N95 should be right. It is saying that I entered invalid router password or something like that.
