Nokia :: 5800 - Map Loader Error / Waiting For Phone
Feb 8, 2010
I've downloaded the new ovi maps 3.3. But I have no actual maps on it, I just see empty space and have all the options for GPS etc. Now I want to use Map loader. It keeps telling me "Waiting for phone' fine I plug in my phone with usb cable, take pc suite, and it just keeps on going "waiting for phone", now when I choose Mass storage mode, I get an error telling me " You have atleast 1 phone connected in mass storage mode, please reconnect your phone and select pc suite" I do that and yep. Keeps going "Waiting for phone".
I have a Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition phone. After installing the Map Loader application, when I connect my device to Windows 7 laptop in the "PC Suite" mode, Map Loader keeps waiting for the phone.
I have been trying to load maps into my N900 using the Map Loader. The N900 was connected to my Windows 7 laptop using Mass Storage mode. Fire off Map Loader and then it got stuck at "waiting for phone". That message keep flishing and nothign else seems to be happening. Anyone encounter a simple problem and it is possible to fix this one?
XM 5800, latest firmware, Maps 3 installed and working OK. I get "Error while loading catalogue for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" whenever I start Map Loader 3. Uninstalled/reinstalled Map Loader 3 several times. Tried suggested fixes of deleting qf and cities folder then running Maps to recreate file structure. Tried it on a Windows 7 PC with PC Suite and also a Vista PC with Ovi Suite. Same error message. I am left without the ability to download any maps except over the air as I go incurring data charges. So I may as well just use Google maps! I see in the discussion groups this issue comes up for many different Nokia phones occasionally but I have never seen a solution.
I have a problem with maps upload to my mobile, whenever I start Map Loader I see a message: You have connected at least one phone (Soft) without a Maps drive. Either you are using an old Map version - .. - or have never started your Maps application. I use USB PC-Suite mode, I have had run Maps application on my phone before I try to connect Map Loader, the Maps version installed on the phone is v3.03 10wk01 b05 - so that's obviously not a reason! Now I can't install new maps anymore - I just can click this error window away and choose some maps, they would be downloaded from the Internet, but they would not appear on my mobile! With a previous version of the map loader (don't know the version number any more, and previous maps version on the phone, I also need a link to Maps Updater due the Nokia site malfunction - couldn't find this software anymore.
I have a problem with the "map loader" and my Nokia 5800 XM. The map loader worked as I bought the phone some months ago. Everything worked fine. Today I had to do a reset. The map is still working, but I cant get the map loader to work. After the start of the program and sync with the 5800 XM im getting an errormsg (in german but im trying to translate) "cannot load the catalog of the 5800 xm". Thats it. I googled whole day, but found no solution so this forum is my last help right now. It worked (today) before i have done the reset so im thinking that its not my OS (Windows7 64bit).
Why I can't see anyway where to downloads my European & American maps with Snow Leopard. I'll explain better: I downloaded and installed ovi maps online, I installed nokia multimedia transfer, as I transfer music, photo. Why am I having problems finding the Map Loader? there is nowhere. I Have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music that works well, maps apart, i can't navigate anywhere without maps!
I am a enthousiastic new owner of a Nokia 5800 XM. However I have a problem that ik cannot get resolved. It's about map Loader. I am able to connect my phone to teh mac using USB or Bluetooth and transfer my music and photo's using Nokia multemedia transfer and my contacts via iSync. However i am not able to update my maps using Map Loader. When I start map Loader I get a short notice of a message that the maps on my 5800 are aoutdated and that they wil have to be updated. Yes please, that is what ik really want! But then I get the following error message: "Map catalogue loading failed." map Loader could't download the list of avaliable map regions. Possible causes include a lack of network connectivity or a problem on the maps server".
I bought my Nokia 5800 a year ago.Updated Nokia mobile Ovi software and Nokia maps 3.01. When I start navigation and chose a specific root, I noticed that it does not locate my position at all. And when starting the navigation it give "waiting for GPS message" and the signal intensity of GPS is about flashing one bar.
When I make calls if the person I call is buzy talking with third person its suppose shows "call waiting" on my phone right? but Nokia 5800 XpressMusic never shows this msg. Is it the phone software like that or I need to setup something on it?
When I start Nokia Map Loader application for dowloading maps on Nokia 5230 I get an error message saying : The following errors occured while transferring files. If the error is not permanent, you can try starting the file transfers again. config.cfg file couldn't been found. operation forbidden config.cfg file couldn't been found. operation forbidden I can't download maps on the phone because the region list is empty (it is not supposed to be). This happens every time I try to use the Map Loader. There are screenshots of the same problem on another forum: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-map-loader-fo r-mac/bugreport/configcfg-operation-forbidden.
I got the N97 on the basis of the maps and GPS stuff. Problem is I have never managed to download maps. I'm using mao loader 3.0.28.0 and Map version 0.1.23.112 both freshly downloaded and installed. There's 24.2GB free memory and my selcted map is175.5MB. When I try to downlad maps I get one of 3 things. The download hangs at about 30-40% I know my internet connection is fine because I'm browsing. The download completes and I get an unknown error when save to storage medium starts. I get a storage medium disconnected message. I've tried it on a desktop and a laptop pc. I've done a full reset on the phone and started all over again. I've trawled all the boards and blogs that come up in google and no one seems to have an answer. I'm starting to get very hacked off with how much of my time is getting soaked up getting nowhere.
When downloading maps to my phone with Ver.3.0 Maps Loader, part 1/2 works fine, but at part 2/2, i get this "connection to medium storage interrupted. Attach your storage medium and retry" error at 85.1% everytime (i've tried several times).
Some info:
- I have ver.3.0 Maps on my phone.
- I've also tried updating the firmware and its up-to-date.
- I'm using a 8Gb memory card so it can't be lack of space.
Map loader is no longer supported by Nokia. It is not possible to download, install, and use the Map loader application. Could someone confirm this or post the link to the installation of Map Loader.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried using the (new) Nokia Map Loader with the N900? According to http://maemo-freak.com/index.php/miscellaneous/1379-map-loader-for-maemo-devices-announced this new version should work with the N900 but it fails on both my Win7 and WinXP machines (both 32-bit). Amusingly, the Nokia web site specifically says to use Mass Storage Mode if you're using an N900 so I obediently did so, but then the software itself told me I must use PC Suite mode so I gave that a go and it failed too. I have run Ovi Maps on the device several times so I know the directories are there, it just seems a shambles.
Can someone tell me if its possible to connect my phone with my usb cable to my car frontloader and play music through it? If not what do i need to be able to play music through my frontloader in car from my phone?
1- I have installed PC SUIT suitable for nokia N900 2- Also installed nokia map loader version 3.0
Now all is fine. Isn't it? So they said first start nokia map application till it load completely then close it. I did. Then connect ur phone on PC SUIT MODE and also I did that. Then all I get on nokia map loader app is "Waiting for the phone" thats it and phone already connected I tried in both modes pc suit and mass storage but still the same "Waiting for the phone" and I am waiting too.

I have updated the firmware on my 5800 to version 31.0.101.I have tried to update Maps from version 3.01 to 3.03. Each time I try, the update fails. The on-air update fails without any detailed messages. The update via USB cable fails with an error message "unknown error code 5".Does anyone know what is wrong and how to resolve this problem?
I've just bought a Nokia 5800 and downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps. I'd rather use this in offline mode, and it works well about 60% of the time. But quite often I get the error "route not found" when I try and set a route. The only way round this is to go online, and then a route can always be found.Having looked on the web I see a lot of people are having this problem but I haven't found a definitve fix yet. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.
So i connect my Nokia 5800 XM all works great, i open OVI suite and go to maps. I want to downlaod the maps for my county to my mobile phone, and there start to come some problems.when i press maps on OVI suite, on the right side of the window i see the logo of the OVI maps and its in black/white and there is a text msg: "Internal Error" and Maps encountered a unknow error, try again later. So i did try but still the same, what is wrong, how to fix it? any help?
I recently upgraded to firmware v51 after updating i m experiencing a strange problem """"while pressing O it types L ---- the key just below it-----""""" and with other keys too pressing something and typing something else...
I cannot play .mp4 videos on my new Nokia 5800 I have tried using OVI and mass storage connections. Some files will play but most will not, I have checked everything ie codec, res. frame rate etc it all seems OK. I have looked at the files on the memory card and they all match the pre-installed flies, cannot understand? Please help
I live in Blegium and try to update my Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic to the new firmware (31.01.101). For the moment I have the firmware 30.0.011.When I check with my mobile if there are new updates, then it says there are no new updates available. When I ckeck on the nokia website with my productcode, it says that I can update to the new firmware. When I connect to my PC (Vista Ultimate 64bit), then it finds the new firmware and wants to update my mobile. During the update, it shuts my mobile down and then gives the error message that he can not find the device. So I disconnect my mobile, restart it and reconnect it. After this I choose to try again with locating my mobile, he finds it and starts with updating again till the part where my mobile is turned off again. So I keep getting stuck in this loop.Anybody knows a solution for this?
This is getting really frustrating.I bought this blue nokia 5800 XM in January (Australia), and in the past month its been giving me trouble.Okay, right now: Running v50.xx..My phone is having a 'general error' when I try and play music in the music player.Only when I find songs via the file manager I can play them..One at a time. This is the second time within a week that its done this! The first time I googled around and found I had to 'hard-reset' then clear my memory card of bad sectors.Done that, it fixed..Until now. This isn't the only problem, at the start of the month my stupid phone would restart itself just for fun, and the alarm doesn't function properly (when I touch/slide to 'snooze' or 'stop' it doesn't respond until a minute later) And the memory card has wiped itself before aswell
I reformatted the entire phone and memory, clean install of firmware and everything but still I get problems? Why? Think I'll go back to my old SE w910i it was much better..No problems with it ever (even after I dropped the battery in water).BTW I think I should have 1yr nokia warranty (does it cover first year from purchase?), but then again all they'll tell me to do is wait my time every week re-formatting the phone.
I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down. Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
I updated my phone software to V.50.0.005 - custom version 50.0.005.352.02 - and since then the following features are not working/crash:Touch-screen doesn't respond in incoming calls, Real player is crashing when I open it, IM doesn't start, Finally, it appears I have a new messages in my answer phone that I don't.
I have a Nokia 5800 and Nokia BH-212 bluetooth headset. Is it possible to play music when driving using an FM transmitter plugged in to the headphone socket on the phone, to play through the car stereo speakers, and to use the headset to kick in in case someone calls whilst I'm driving and listening to music? I'm getting the music through the bluetooth thing.
After the last update (v50) on my nokia xpressmusic 5800 I have no longer access to my internet connection thru WLAN. It shows the error message "Invalid Server Name". My router (DLink WBR1310) uses WEP encryption. How do I solve this problem? Should a hard reset fix this problem?
I just upgraded my Nokia 5800 to the latest firmware and now my WLAN always gives me the 'INvalid Server Name' issue and also my vibration alert has stopped working for all profiles. please HElp.I have tried everything on the other discussion board. It dosent help.
i did plug my nokia 5800, ovi found out that my maps could be updated...it deleted all my older maps and as it tried to download the new one i always get this message "internal error the software faced an unknowed error.try again later" i have more than enough space on my memory card (5.3 Go free) , i tried downloading the france map piece by piece and it stille don't work, even with the language files which are about 2Mo . the download start with the progression bar but never end
