I cannot play .mp4 videos on my new Nokia 5800 I have tried using OVI and mass storage connections. Some files will play but most will not, I have checked everything ie codec, res. frame rate etc it all seems OK. I have looked at the files on the memory card and they all match the pre-installed flies, cannot understand? Please help
View 6 RepliesSince upgrading to firmware40.0.005 (custom version 40.0.005.224.09) videos get stuck after a few minutes, even knowing the sound still plays.I have made some research and spotted people complaining of that issue after upgrading to that firmware but it was a few months back, and surely Nokia wouldn't have text me last week to let me know about a firmware update if the problems with it havent been resolved.Any help would be much appreciated as I am using my phone to watch video a lot as it normally does the trick to keep my hyper active toddler quiet while out and about.Even a firmware downgrade would be accpetable, the videos being so important to avoid the little one destroying places (it was a god sent in A&E)

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's sad that the Nokia 5800 in spite of having a huge screen and an awesome resolution doesn't play movies in .avi format. Although you can convert the videos to another supported format, this is really not the solution. This is because of two reasons:
1. AVI files are the most common to find.
2. They are small/compact in size when compared to mpeg4.
I tried installing divx but clearly Nokia 5800 is not one of the supported models for this software. The divx player opens on the phone but you really cant see any controls, so it is basically as good as being non-functional. I have read about some ways to make the divx player work on 5800, but none of them sound convincing.
Is there any player out in the market that can help you play .avi files on Nokia 5800? Or are there any codecs for the phone like the K-lite codec for PCs to make avi files playable?There has to be some way!
n97 videos get stuck after i play for 5 or 6minutes.the video format is mp4.it plays perfectly til it gets stuck.i convert avi to mp4 using format factory.is there anything wrong with the converter?is there any way i can play avi fiels.when i try to convert using pc suite it says could not convert.

About camera:
When I turn on the phone and go to the camera it works. I can take few photos and close it. But when I try to run it again there is only black screen. I have to reset my phone to open it once again.
About videos:
Very similar problem. I can watch few videos, but If I close the player and run it again, there is only sound and black screen. I must reset my phone to watch it again...
I have FW v31 and it's the newest software provided by my operator.
Had this phone for one month. When I tried to shut it down today, it stayed on the 'nokia' screen for a few hours. I tried to forcefullly shut it off by pulling out the battery. The fone shut off. But, when I place the battery back and turn it on, it stays at the same 'nokia' screen. Tried this a few times and no help yet.Any ideas anyone? Any way to reset the phone without losing my photos,videos, voice recordings and music?

My nokia 5800 takes many time to autofocus i.e. changing of bracket from yellow to green. Firstly I can see zooming of lens in and out during autofocus, but now I can't. As a result the pic it shoots is blurred. When i compare the picture quality of 5800 with 5233 (2 mp), I found quality of 5233's pic is far better than 3.2 mp carl zeiss lens.

could someone please help me with this problem. I have just bought a nokia 5800 comes with music phone. When i run the disk everything installs untill i get to nokia music which fails due to this error :

I have check iTunes and the music video was unchecked. Checked my iPhone 4s (iOS 7.1.1) and it shows the the videos aren't on the phone, but have the iCloud download symbol next to them.Â
I have even deleted them from iTunes and switched off "Show All Music", under Music in Settings and "Show All Videos" under Video in Settings.Â
However, they videos are still being played in the shuffle.Â
I have updated the firmware on my 5800 to version 31.0.101.I have tried to update Maps from version 3.01 to 3.03. Each time I try, the update fails.The on-air update fails without any detailed messages. The update via USB cable fails with an error message "unknown error code 5".Does anyone know what is wrong and how to resolve this problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a Nokia 5800 and downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps. I'd rather use this in offline mode, and it works well about 60% of the time. But quite often I get the error "route not found" when I try and set a route. The only way round this is to go online, and then a route can always be found.Having looked on the web I see a lot of people are having this problem but I haven't found a definitve fix yet. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling but the problem persists.

I live in Blegium and try to update my Nokia 5800 ExpressMusic to the new firmware (31.01.101). For the moment I have the firmware 30.0.011.When I check with my mobile if there are new updates, then it says there are no new updates available. When I ckeck on the nokia website with my productcode, it says that I can update to the new firmware. When I connect to my PC (Vista Ultimate 64bit), then it finds the new firmware and wants to update my mobile. During the update, it shuts my mobile down and then gives the error message that he can not find the device. So I disconnect my mobile, restart it and reconnect it. After this I choose to try again with locating my mobile, he finds it and starts with updating again till the part where my mobile is turned off again. So I keep getting stuck in this loop.Anybody knows a solution for this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is getting really frustrating.I bought this blue nokia 5800 XM in January (Australia), and in the past month its been giving me trouble.Okay, right now: Running v50.xx..My phone is having a 'general error' when I try and play music in the music player.Only when I find songs via the file manager I can play them..One at a time.This is the second time within a week that its done this!The first time I googled around and found I had to 'hard-reset' then clear my memory card of bad sectors.Done that, it fixed..Until now.This isn't the only problem, at the start of the month my stupid phone would restart itself just for fun, and the alarm doesn't function properly (when I touch/slide to 'snooze' or 'stop' it doesn't respond until a minute later) And the memory card has wiped itself before aswell
I reformatted the entire phone and memory, clean install of firmware and everything but still I get problems? Why? Think I'll go back to my old SE w910i it was much better..No problems with it ever (even after I dropped the battery in water).BTW I think I should have 1yr nokia warranty (does it cover first year from purchase?), but then again all they'll tell me to do is wait my time every week re-formatting the phone.
I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down.Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
I updated my phone software to V.50.0.005 - custom version 50.0.005.352.02 - and since then the following features are not working/crash:Touch-screen doesn't respond in incoming calls, Real player is crashing when I open it, IM doesn't start, Finally, it appears I have a new messages in my answer phone that I don't.

Unfortunately, they have not been backed up and its just typical that I was only recently planning to upload them onto my laptop.
Is there any way I can retrieve them? By maybe using a file recovery software or from the phone itself.
