Nokia :: 5800 Application Icon Size?
Mar 31, 2010Why is it such a nightmare getting an icon to work properly on my 5800? No matter what size, it is horribly distorted, any one have an idea?

Apr 9, 2010i try to install "maps_installer_3.03_10wk1_b05_s60_5.0.Nocs.sis" on my 5800 express music. Installation stops with error message like :"application not compatible with software version. Please update your software". But wenn i run Nokia software updater or nokia pc suite they both tell me my phonesoftware is the newest version and can not be updated. - backup phone memory /c to /e
-*#7370#
- restore phone memory from /e to /c
Except for reorganizing my menus and reinstalling fring and opera mini everything was ok. But YBrowser was also missing and reinstalled that one but it pompted with "Certificate epired". Setting back the date resulted in "Cetrificate not yoe valid" How can I get around these terrible certificate check?

Feb 14, 2010when i go for Settings>Connectivity options and then exit from everything, my mobile keeps showing that Settings are still open (small circle over the icon). when i try to inside settings again, the screen goes blank or returns to normal menu.

Aug 22, 2010I have problem as some application install on my nokia 5800 (or may be symbian) is connecting to internet without my knowledge. I would like to identify it as it making same unwanted connection which are cost for my. For now I have walk around and enforce my phone to ask for password before each connection but it make using Nokia 5800 a little bit annoying. What is more I have checked task manger and I have no application there so it may be or MFC either some other nokia native application (but it is my supposed only).

Apr 6, 2010I've recently updated firmware to V40 and initially I didn't have this problem, but now for some reason, the application software updater (under application menu) won't work. When I select it, it tries to load, but immediately closes. I can't for the life of me understand why this wouldn't work or why it would suddenly stop working. Is there a way to download the sw updater from OVI store or something?? I've even tried a hardware reset (green, red and camera button while turning the phone on), but that hasn't helped.
At the same time, I've also noticed that I can't edit any pictures. The same thing happens I click on the edit button, the picture loads, but as soon as I try add an effect, it closes the application.

May 7, 2010I am a foreigner in Thailand. I just want to ask that why all these road and rivers on these maps used to be right when it's been charged while been wrong when it's free? I updated my 5800 few days ago, and then I found out that the map on my phone said I can't get to the main road because there's nothing connected between them? If u check the map, at the address: bangkok HuaMak Ramkhamhaeng 24 Yaek 34, compare with google maps on same location, you will see that according to the maps on the phone there's no way out. Where's al these river's been gone? Yesterday, I went to the center of Bangkok to exchange some money, when I came back by doing boat, the river on my location is gone. Please, I want the old map, the maps that been charged.

May 24, 2010I downloaded and installed maps of Australia and the surfer dude voice using map loader. However my maps application did not detect any drive navigation voice. When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? I am using a 5800 with v31 and im using maps v3.04. Although with both v3.03 and 3.04 the same problem was there.

Apr 5, 2010we are living in the times when internet is in our pockets. yet we have a crippled web browsing experience. without full flash support, we are unable to do most of the work, communication, information gathering, nor enjoying entertainment sites.in the modern days of internet where speed is the most important issue, website developers just can't deal with mobile versions of websites. not even the biggest sites, like cnn have a capable and usable mobile site.
yet, our mobile phones, such as nokia 5800 (and also the rest of the communicator-like phones) with a serious browsing capability is discriminated because the websites recognize them as "mobile" phones. most of the time you're not even able to browse the "normal" website and get the same experience to move around and even see the same information on your mobile phone.
i'm also experiencing browser application issues. freezes, hungs, because the site cannot coop with the disabled flash light. it starts to load the data, you able to see the flash box and then the browser just stops working. after a long time of exercise on different sites, such as Internet i'm convinced that flash 10 even bring our browser to its knees. the new flash 10 videos totally killing the browser on my nokia phone. and this is not firmware, not memory nor website related problems. it's incompatibility where the site and the browser just unable to coop.time to fix and update browsers in nokia smart phones including 5800!
get rid of discriminating our mobile devices as a"crippled" internet browser and give us the full web-experience.i was a faithfull nokia owner in the past 10 years (!!!!). i spent a lot of money on my phones. i always bought them even with limited information on the capabilities because i was trustful about the quality and feature-rich products. however if this issue will not be fixed on this particular phone because of whatever reason, be it as technical issue (the phone is not prepared for such internet experience), or be it as a way of lacking in development (never ment to handle such internet experience at all) then i have to leave nokia for good.
this is not "silly warning" or an angry and frustrating finger pointing. it just the fact that if nokia forcing me to swap phone, then i cannot trust a company with such business decisions to limit the timespan of their phone in such a way, that would generate more money for them. if this is not the case and we able to finally use our phone as it should work since the beginning then we will be the happiest buyers and supporters on earth.
i'm also trying to send this to the customer support in the good hope that finally we will see some advancement on this topic. i think we, the users, were quiet patient up until now (a year or so passed and still no sollution on this).

Mar 31, 2010I've been running a copy of windows live messenger on my e71 successfully for over a year - the other day (and no, I hadn't run any updates recently) I tried to use it and found the icon has just vanished! - it was still listed in App. Mgr. as "installed" but there was no icon anywhere, not in "installations" etc. etc. i updated the phone firmware, uninstalled in app.mgr reinstalled etc. etc. tried different .sis no joy at all - any ideas? it's almost if it's being hidden - is there some app I can use to see the icon location of installed apps?

Jun 14, 2010Problem observed by me on any firmware version, I'm using actually v 50.0.005 in my 5800XM.If you have over 200 e-mails in your mailbox on server and you have downloaded them into the phone (even only e-mails headers) then icon in upper right corner (that envelope with @ sign) doesn't want disappear. Only phone turn off then turn on is solution which is not so funny.Any ideas? Magic spells? Wake up developers! This bug? is very irritating.
