when i go for Settings>Connectivity options and then exit from everything, my mobile keeps showing that Settings are still open (small circle over the icon). when i try to inside settings again, the screen goes blank or returns to normal menu.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Nokia 5800 and I happened to notice that when i receive a text message, it does not show the name of the sender in the main screen. I have seen other Nokia phones and I am sure the phone must display the sender's name or number in the home screen as soon as the message arrives, but mine just says 1 New Message instead of 1 New Message from xyz. Are there any settings I need to change or is it this way itself in 5800?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Nokia 701, which I bought yesterday. The first thing I did when I got it home was to check with Nokia suite to see whether FP1 for Belle was available here in Taiwan. Apparently it is not, but Nokia suite did tell me that I should install a new version of the Nokia maps software, which I duly did. It then said that I should download new maps, which I also did.
After going through the rest of the phone setup, I started checking various things I found that the map application would not open. When I press on the icon I get a spinning circle in the middle of the screen which remains for about a second, then smaller circle in the top left of the map icon which stays for a couple of seconds. The circles go away and nothing opens.
I am using Nokia X3 02. When I first brought this phone,it was ok. It can open all my application that I have download. But I don't know why. Now I can't open my application. I press the application,then it say "Opening...." then suddenly say "Closing..."

Installation stops with error message like :"application not compatible with software version. Please update your software". But wenn i run Nokia software updater or nokia pc suite they both tell me my phonesoftware is the newest version and can not be updated. My phone is Version 30.0.011.C02.01

Except for reorganizing my menus and reinstalling fring and opera mini everything was ok. But YBrowser was also missing and reinstalled that one but it pompted with "Certificate epired". Setting back the date resulted in "Cetrificate not yoe valid" How can I get around these terrible certificate check?
I have problem as some application install on my nokia 5800 (or may be symbian) is connecting to internet without my knowledge. I would like to identify it as it making same unwanted connection which are cost for my. For now I have walk around and enforce my phone to ask for password before each connection but it make using Nokia 5800 a little bit annoying. What is more I have checked task manger and I have no application there so it may be or MFC either some other nokia native application (but it is my supposed only).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've recently updated firmware to V40 and initially I didn't have this problem, but now for some reason, the application software updater (under application menu) won't work. When I select it, it tries to load, but immediately closes. I can't for the life of me understand why this wouldn't work or why it would suddenly stop working. Is there a way to download the sw updater from OVI store or something?? I've even tried a hardware reset (green, red and camera button while turning the phone on), but that hasn't helped.
At the same time, I've also noticed that I can't edit any pictures. The same thing happens I click on the edit button, the picture loads, but as soon as I try add an effect, it closes the application.
I'm using Facebook on Ovi by Nokia (Communities) application. But that applications runs slow. No background applications run when i'm using that. I'm using Nokia 5800xm. Is there any other application can access to facebook?

Yesterday got my new E72 but discovered that "Show open apps." command is not working either from menu or long-pressing Home key. Should I return the phone to the shop or wait for firmware update? I've got Software verson 022.007, Software version date 10-Dec-2009 and Custom version 022.007.C00.01 (10-Dec-2009), Language set 23.01 and Model E72-1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I enter text, it is appending it to complete the word. I did not figure out how to say OK to complete suggested word. (Example if I type go, it is showing "going". with "ing" appended with highlighted).As soon as I press space or cursor, it is deleting appended text. So, predictive text is not helping at all. It is realy not at all intutive on how to complete the word.
By the way, is there any application to show matched mutliple words? I find Android to show more than one word so that user can select one of them. It is very useful to show multiple words than single word so that hit chnaces increase.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi'm using a Nokia 5800 XM with the last firmware. i'm experiencing a problem, since nearly two months from now: when i go in Settings > Connection > Network Destinations and I click on "Internet", it won't open and it remains in the Network Destinations menu. I can open all the other items, but Internet won't open. I can only see that there are 17 destinations (I think most of them are Wi-Fi hotspots I used before).

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I run Internet Radio, I can only select Wi-Fi access points, no 3G or GPRS (in my case: Vodafone Live!). Other apps do show all access points. This is a pitty as the application is rather nice.The app does show settings for the GPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi bitrates, so obviously it does support these connections.I've deleted and re-installed, to no avail.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi have a nokia 5800 xpress music latest firmware (40) and everything, but latley when i get a normal SMS from someone (i know the person gotten messages from him before), it tells me Unable to open: message format not supported. however the message shows in the in-box (the first few words or so, after the senders name) and if i go to a previous text and then click the arrow (or the pound key) that takes me to the next text, it'll open fine.. it kinda **bleep** me off i tried restarting the phone didn't help

When I browsed the voices folder however it was there.i had to download another voice thru the maps application (sadly no surfer dud) in order to get voice navigation. Is there any reason for this? View 8 Replies View Relatedwe are living in the times when internet is in our pockets. yet we have a crippled web browsing experience. without full flash support, we are unable to do most of the work, communication, information gathering, nor enjoying entertainment sites.in the modern days of internet where speed is the most important issue, website developers just can't deal with mobile versions of websites. not even the biggest sites, like cnn have a capable and usable mobile site.
yet, our mobile phones, such as nokia 5800 (and also the rest of the communicator-like phones) with a serious browsing capability is discriminated because the websites recognize them as "mobile" phones. most of the time you're not even able to browse the "normal" website and get the same experience to move around and even see the same information on your mobile phone.
i'm also experiencing browser application issues. freezes, hungs, because the site cannot coop with the disabled flash light. it starts to load the data, you able to see the flash box and then the browser just stops working. after a long time of exercise on different sites, such as Internet i'm convinced that flash 10 even bring our browser to its knees. the new flash 10 videos totally killing the browser on my nokia phone. and this is not firmware, not memory nor website related problems. it's incompatibility where the site and the browser just unable to coop.time to fix and update browsers in nokia smart phones including 5800!
get rid of discriminating our mobile devices as a"crippled" internet browser and give us the full web-experience.i was a faithfull nokia owner in the past 10 years (!!!!). i spent a lot of money on my phones. i always bought them even with limited information on the capabilities because i was trustful about the quality and feature-rich products. however if this issue will not be fixed on this particular phone because of whatever reason, be it as technical issue (the phone is not prepared for such internet experience), or be it as a way of lacking in development (never ment to handle such internet experience at all) then i have to leave nokia for good.
this is not "silly warning" or an angry and frustrating finger pointing. it just the fact that if nokia forcing me to swap phone, then i cannot trust a company with such business decisions to limit the timespan of their phone in such a way, that would generate more money for them. if this is not the case and we able to finally use our phone as it should work since the beginning then we will be the happiest buyers and supporters on earth.
i'm also trying to send this to the customer support in the good hope that finally we will see some advancement on this topic. i think we, the users, were quiet patient up until now (a year or so passed and still no sollution on this).
Is there an application for the 5800 which actually shows signal strength numerically?

there i have currenly update my Nokia XPressMusic to FW 50.0.005. The update works well, but after restart of phone i lost my theme and the default symbian S60 Theme is started (light blue touch). I think this is not correct and want go into Settings to Change the Theme back to my Settings (default skin when i have buyed it, with changed background). But i can go into Settings > Personal -> Themes. I see the menu points now in Themes for 1-2 seconds and it goes back to the view of Personal.
I hope i have named the menu points correct, because i have german as language.
