Nokia :: Icon Size On The Standby Screen
Jul 20, 2010I purchased this phone today, and one annoyance is the icon size on the standby screen. I've had a good look and I can't find anywhere to set them to be smaller? Any ideas?

May 30, 2010I recently purchased a Nokia 5130 from a TMobile store, and since I have started using it, I noticed that whenever I activate keyguard and wait for a little bit, the phone screen turns blank and would not show anything at all (I am used to S40 and S60 phones showing a bar with the time and date, the number of unread messages and missed calls showing everytime they are on standby). However, I also noticed that whenever I unlock the keypad and the backlight shows back up, the bar is actually there before it fades away and returns back to the home screen. Could it be that the screen is actually turning itself off whenever it's on keyguard standby?

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I just need to find a suitable theme? I am at least looking for the width to be used up, but it would be nice to use up some of the vertical space to show an extra email or something.

Nov 16, 2012My friend has a Samsung Flash Windows 7.5 phone which is 480x800 resolution with a 3.5" screen. This shows 9 rows of tiles, 9 rows of missed calls. I have my new Nokia Lumina 920 with 1280x768 resolution which is approximately 300% more than Samsung Flash. It shows just barely 6 rows of tiles and 6 rows of missed calls. Email text is so big that I need to scroll a lot in my Nokia 920.Eventhough Nokia 920 screen size is so huge, the content which it displays is only 70% of what a much smaller device currently shows. This really annoys me. Whats the use of a bigger screen and a better resolution when it can't show more as content. Forget making the font size larger, you will see only 4 or 5 lines in any of the lists.
I really hope Microsoft releases a update to enable us reduce the font size still further and read more from the Lumina. I want a quick glimpse of all new emails with minimal scroll. Compare any other phone - iPhone, Samsung Flash Windows phone, Motorola Atrix, etc., all show much more number of emails than the Windows in Nokia 920.

May 26, 2012I'm using a MA 1.6.13 N8. Brightness it at half and screen timeout is set to 30s. Workout screen timeout is off.
Just to make sure we're on the same page: the MA screen has three modes:
- Full on (color and bright) - probably eats up battery quick - out of the 30s configured, the screen remains on this mode for about 25s.
- Dimmed (B&W no backlight) - compromise on battery spend - the last 5s of the 30s are in this mode.
- Standby mode (screen off) - least battery comsumption - after the configured 30s timeout, you can't see anything.
So here is the question: Is this Dimmed screen mode available? I'd like to set this mode on always.

Jan 27, 2013Sometime, when I push the power button to return from standby, the screen turns black (lighted but displaying nothing, the buttons lighten as well but are inactive).That phenomenon seems to happen randomly. Aug 1, 2015In short, after installing the 5.1.1 update, my phone seemed to lag a little on menus and such, so I did a factory reset. Everything was fine, except now after the reset, for some strange reason I can't change the screen grid size in the TouchWiz panel customization menu. The button that says "screen grid" is there, but it's now greyed out and I can't access it. I did some Googling and found that the newest version of TouchWiz (that is stock installed on S6's) is TouchWiz Nature UX 5.0; I checked "TouchWiz Home" app info under my applications manager and it says "Version 4.0".
Could it be that I am running and older version of TouchWiz (because I know the screen grid customization is a feature of the new TouchWiz) -- I don't understand that though, how could a factory reset revert to an older version of TouchWiz than what was stock installed in the first place? I know I could just install a different launcher but I am completely fine with TouchWiz, I just want to be able to change the grid size like I could before the factory reset.
BTW I have a Sprint 32GB S6 with everything unaltered -- non-rooted and everything stock. I would post a screenshot but I can't figure out how to upload an image from file.

In the settings, I have the following options (all names translated from the Polish interface, so original English names can be different) - "Email notification 1", "Email notification 2" and "Nokia Messaging email". The first two seem to refer to the default email program (not Messaging) - I cannot set any mailboxes for them ("There is no mailbox" error). "Nokia Messaging email" shows the "Set up e-mail" link on the main screen. With previous firmware and messaging I had another option "Nokia Intellisync" which triggered email list on the main screen. No such option anymore.
2. Email notifications are "on" in Messaging but when emails arrive there is only a sound. No icon (@) anywhere, no blinking.
