I can't get the email / calendar of the active standby to fill the screen on the E72 that I just picked up.
Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I just need to find a suitable theme? I am at least looking for the width to be used up, but it would be nice to use up some of the vertical space to show an extra email or something.
I developed a problem with my E51. Active standby crashes couple minutes after staring up and becomes unresponsive. When you turn on the phone, active standby looks fine and everything displays normally (e.g. 1 Unread email, meeting at noon, etc.). However, right after that it gets stuck and doesn't update anymore. That means that if you read the email, the notification remains. Or if you get 3 more new emails, it will still display 1 unread email. Same thing with calendar even after the meeting passes, it's not cleared. Not even the next day, and new meetings will not be displayed on active standby until the phone is reboot.
I just realized that even the administrative shortcuts don't work (i.e. *#06# for IMEI or *#0000# for firmware). The phone beeps, but nothing is displayed.Does anyone have a solution to this, yet another, nokia software issue? Cause the latest advice I got when looking for solutions to my constant nokia problems (email crashing, random reboots, etc.) was Go and get a Blackberry I'd rather not go that way, unless I have no other choice.
is there anyway that I could change the applications shown on the active standby area?I know how to change the shortcuts, but how do I change area below, say to not let calendar to show, and instead let something else be shown?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy E63 crashed after a software update last night. I seem to have recovered most stuff, but now can't access my emails from the Active Home Screen. It shows that new emails have arrived, but when I click on the icon - nothing happens. Just stays on the home screen. I can access emails by going Menu-Installations-email, but this is a bit of a faff!
Any ideas? I'm using the Nokia Messaging email for my Hotmail account. It all went smoothly for the last year....
Recently Google Sync was shut down, I followed the steps suggested by Google and went to my Blackberry Internet Service webpage. My service is with Optus in Australia. I opened the email account that I wanted to edit and checked the boxes for syncing of Calendar and Contacts, clicked save and then a message appeared on the page saying I should go to email setup on my phone and complete the security activation. When I did that I found that the email setup icon was not active
I then called Optus Tech support and was put through to a centre in Manila, they really had no idea what I was talking about and used a stock answer that it was a Google/Gmail issue. While I had them on the line I set up a new email account with Outlook.com, when I tried to sync calendar and contacts the same issue arose.
When I bought this phone I had to use the BIS to set up my email accounts, the setup email icon did not work then either but I was told by Optus that was normal and all setup should be done using BIS.
I no longer have calendar syncing which is quite important for my work.
I did try a suggestion from the forum by logging in to mobile.blackberry.com - communicate - email and editing from there but there is no option shown there for calendar and contacts, the only option is for syncing deleted messages.
Since last Friday (April 22), when I open my email screen, it only stays active for a 2-3 seconds, and then it goes back to my home screen. I've tried shutdown, removing the battery, checked my Outlook sync settings, nothing is working.

I have changed internet providers, so when i go to send my self an email ( browser links, etc), my two previous accounts appear for the "auto-fill". The same if i type my wife's email address in, also, it pops up with the old email address. I am using the app for OUTLOOK, but it also was doing it for the other program that i had installed. How do you delete an address from autofill in email? I have cleared cache, browser, history, updated contacts in gmail.. etc etc. What is happening is that even though the address is not in my address book, because I've used it on my phone it keeps coming up. I have read through here on how to delete it, but I can not find out how to delete this. I am using iphone 4, newest software, gmail. The address is not in my address book and everything/person I've replied too is saved/keeps coming up.

I previously had a gmail account and on that, I obviously sent emails.
This account as now been deleted off my iPhone and the login credentials long forgotten.
Now under my new iCloud and new gmail account (which I created in lieu of my previous gmail), I get the email addresses that I no longer want or use that I sent from my previous and now-deleted account, popping up in my auto-fill as soon as I start to type a few characters in the "To" box.
I'd rather not restore my iPhone to factory settings. I have an iPhone 4 running on the latest software and I also have a PC on windows vista.

Besides the fact that IMAP idle is not working and that the "sent items" folder is not synchronized with Nokia messaging, I now have another showstopper: While the email client has an active connection, I cannot call anymore! I get - no matter which number I am dialing - a busy signal. First, I thought it would be the network. But then I disconnected the email client and the calls worked perfectly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Nokia 5130 from a TMobile store, and since I have started using it, I noticed that whenever I activate keyguard and wait for a little bit, the phone screen turns blank and would not show anything at all (I am used to S40 and S60 phones showing a bar with the time and date, the number of unread messages and missed calls showing everytime they are on standby). However, I also noticed that whenever I unlock the keypad and the backlight shows back up, the bar is actually there before it fades away and returns back to the home screen. Could it be that the screen is actually turning itself off whenever it's on keyguard standby?

I enabled Automatic email retrieval and the interval time was 2 hrs. All worked fine. I got the notification in first run. I noticed that my packet data connection was active for whole day, in result phone battery was consumed too early.
I just want to know these two things:
1. Why the packet data connection is active all time? Cant it active only on the retrieval hours. Not in the idle position?
2. Why the email alert notifications has just stopped showing NEW EMAIL
I am just missing my important mails due to this problem of notification.
Just want to ask if 5800 will be able to determined the text messages came from in the standby screen? is it like the samsung phones that you'll already know the person's name who texted you?

I think this behavior occurred after Anna update.
I use the default Calendar app on my S5 with several Gmail accounts, all which have default reminder settings. None of those accounts will use my default for calendar reminders, even after Syncing and rebooting. I've gone into my phone settings and searched for Notification, Reminder and Calendar and none of those settings have default reminders. I can only select to enable to disable these options.

Just to make sure we're on the same page: the MA screen has three modes:
- Full on (color and bright) - probably eats up battery quick - out of the 30s configured, the screen remains on this mode for about 25s.
- Dimmed (B&W no backlight) - compromise on battery spend - the last 5s of the 30s are in this mode.
- Standby mode (screen off) - least battery comsumption - after the configured 30s timeout, you can't see anything.
So here is the question: Is this Dimmed screen mode available? I'd like to set this mode on always.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Xperia Active is barely 3 weeks old, running Android version: 2.3.4 and latest build: 4.0.2.A.0.62. My screen brightness is kept at maximum, I have never dropped this phone or abused it and rest of it's functions are running fine. Barely a week in, it seemed to have a faintly flickering screen which I thought might have just been my eyes going. This week, the flickering has been replaced by what I would describe as "breathing" - screen brightness goes from max brightness (100%) to gradual dimness (about 78% brightness) to max brightness again - without me touching anything nor am I running out of power. This happens once in a while throught the day, not constantly. Rather alarming as I am getting very attached to this little phone.
I have been checking the SE forums since the 1st week of ownership, the flickering screen problem has been reported occuring to other SE phone models, including the Mini on which the Active has been based. I have wiped all data from my phone and gave it back to the seller for their tech to figure out. My last option if unrepairable, is to ask the seller to replace the unit. what causes the screen brightness to dim then brighten by itself (despite the latest build and software).
