Right i have had my 5800 for around 3 months now and yesterday i came across a problem,i can recives texts fine but i get no notification, no tone, no vibrate not even the little message icon on the top of the screen,the blinking white light still flashes and i can go into my inbox and see them.

I seem to be able to change the ringtone for calls with my own ringtone files but not for the message alerts.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an 5800 xm blue. you could select message tone before but i turned it off only to vibrate. now i got this really cool tone I want to use but when switching msg tones back on it gives me a warning-----not enough memory to display all ringtones, only tones in read-only memory will be displayd. -------- why can't i select and set a msg tone in my music gallery like a ring tone? And how do i get the msg tones to work properly. My phone memory is 48mb free from 86mb?

The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. I am a new Android user and it seems that both settings cannot be done separately for the vibration mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedProblem observed by me on any firmware version, I'm using actually v 50.0.005 in my 5800XM.If you have over 200 e-mails in your mailbox on server and you have downloaded them into the phone (even only e-mails headers) then icon in upper right corner (that envelope with @ sign) doesn't want disappear. Only phone turn off then turn on is solution which is not so funny.Any ideas? Magic spells? Wake up developers! This bug? is very irritating.

have a Samsung Galaxy SII recently the mother board had crashed all on it s own and I had to replace it. Fortunately the phone was under warranty, but I lost all dataMy phone got upgraded to ICS. All was well for a week, now wht has happened is , that the phone hangs, most apps I open, hang and all though all messages are read it shows unread 1, also the message notification sound has gone although I receive notification sound for all the other things, like whtsapp, gmail, gtalk etc.

In settings/sound & notification, the notification volume is turned all the way up, and it's also set to vibrate for calls. She receives audio notification of other messages(Facebook, pintrest). We have Verizon for our provider.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I find those default ringing tone in my phone and delete them? for example, at profiles> personalise> ringing tone there's a list of my sound track some are stored in memory card and some default (Chipper.aac, Diplex.aac..Etc) stored in phone memory. There is another mp4 file (freeheart.mp4) which I cannot find anywhere else except in the profile personalisation. Cannot be found in the file manager too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my 5800XM since April lst year and without doubt has been the best phone and easiest to navigate of all the phone's I've ever owned..Until recently.About 3 weeks ago I updated to V31.0.101 and that's when my troubles started.
1. The alarm clock is unreliable. It can go off 2 minutes early, 5 minutes late or not at all.
2. Some SMS messages are not triggering a tone. I can get a message everything is fine, i get the message tone. The next time I look, I've had 3 more messages, but no message tones.
3. Emails. When trying to configure an email account, I'm being prompted to either go online (or maybe verify an online account), but why does it persist in only giving me mobile web and wap as an online option. I try to use Mobile Web and Wap as a last resort.. I have wifi in all my work locations.
4. when i do eventually configure an email account.. it doesn't remeber all the settings, so I have to go back and manually edit the entries.
When I send a message, I get a balance notification which also makes a text tone alert (same as when I receive a text). Is there a way to turn off the notification tone?

However, I need to figure out how could I transfer all my data.The blackberry desk manager never did work on my old phone witch. After plugging in the new phone on my PC it asked if I wanted to transfer my data... So I did.I realized that when I was receiving text messages they were looking more like email icons. The camera doesn't work. I open the camera application with both methods (button on side and icon in apps) but it does the red dot thing in the corner for about 4-6 seconds then disappears and applications tells me the app is running. I try to go to the app but it wont go on it.
Problem 2:
The green key, dialler and contacts icon on the home screen do not work at all. I have no way of opening my dialler as there is no option for it.
I updated my firmware to v40.0.005 last week. Please be aware the problems were both there BEFORE i made the update and are still here after the update.Is there any way of doing this without soft/hard resetting. Also, does soft/hard reset mean you lose the data in an app (eg your high scores in a game like bagatelle)?
A few weeks ago, I had an issue where i wasn't getting sms alerts. I put it down to a one off or me just missing them. However, I'ts happened again.My inbox had 3 messages, that I'd not heard a beep for, I had no little envelope icon and no "New Message" alert on the main screen.
As a test, we sent a message to my phone, the message hit the inbox, but there were no notificataions. I changed the profile and sent another text.. same again, no notifications.I rebooted the phone and sent another message.. this time everything worked OK.I'm using a standard message tone as the tone alert..
I'll try to explain best I can. Lately (last week or 2) I get the new message icon displayed, but when I open my messages folder the red asterick goes away but the envolpe icon still is there and the count goes up. Currently it says 4 but I do not have any unread emails, nor any unread facebook messages. The only way to 'reset' this is a battrr pull. But then it starts generating again. I just updated 4.6.1.319 hoping this would help but sstill the same problems. If any other info is needed please let me know.

I have checked and double checked that the phone is on loud, i have turned the phone off and even taken the battery out, but it hasnt solved a thing. I now only know if i have a message once i have gone in to my inbox.
