Only about 2 days ago I bought a new Blackberry Bold 9900 with Virgin Mobile and unfortunately I had it resting on a table when a dart landed on top of the screen while I was away. Sadly, now the screen is cracked in the upper left area and the touchscreen is completely irresponsive. I can still see everything on the screen and manuever using the buttons. Along with this, when I run my hand across the crack, I cannot even feel it, so the crack seems to be under the initial protective coating.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe glass has received 2 long diagonal cracks but the touchscreen still works perfectly - Now that's a blackberry! So i wanted 2 ask if i could simply get it replaced with any simple glass or do i have to buy a special glass?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just replaced a glass screen on my father's Motorola Xoom with the 4G LTE upgrade. Total cost was $101 and about two hours of time. The Xoom was dropped on a tile floor and had multiple cracks in the glass, but was still functional. Just want all you fellow Xoom owners to know it can be done yourself if you have at least a bit of skills (and a hair dryer).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have enjoyed my motoactv to a certain degree, despite portal failures, bugs, and the like, but my latest experience is very disappointing.Add me to the list of persons that has had the device fall and develop a hairline crack in the screen. Ok I've seen the other horror stories on the forum about support. My device works fine, but I don't want it to get wet now with the screen crack.
I opened a call, and since I am from Canada, I was given a repair location that is right in my home city. Perfect! However they refused to even look at the device, claiming they repair Motorola phones but not the motoactv. I provided the Motorola ticket number and explained that Motorola referred me to them. They couldn't care less and refused to accept the device. I regulary use a US address, and so opened up a new case; and shipped my device to the US. The *very* day within hours of receiving notification that I would have to pay to have the motoactv fixed, (This is not a problem for me.) I phoned in and requested that the repair be made, and provided payment by credit card.I have a Gran Fondo event in Mid July, and will *definitely* be using my Garmin. Looks like I have perhaps totally wasted my money on this device, although for now I can use it as an mp3 player when I go to the gym......
My Motorola Cliq 2 has a cracked lens and I also have another cliq 2 and I want to switch lenses if its possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot home from work today sat down, checked some emails on my phone, then plugged it in to charge on the table beside me. I took a shower and when I came out to check for messages on the device the glass had a single crack from the top to the about half way down the right side. What the hell? I had this phone for about 7 days and havnt so much as fumbled it in my hands. Since the Rogers store didnt open until 12pm, I decided to do some research about this and see if this problem has affected anyone else. To my surprise this is a well noted issue with these phones, yet I see nowhere that Motorola has stepped up to issue a notice or recall reguarding this. So I took my phone in to the store and the employee was amazed as well, since the phone is in mint shape and definatly doest apear to be abused.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI unboxed my first Woot! purchase 30 mintues ago (a Xoom Wifi refurb), which unfortunately has a 3/4" crack in the internal screen (picture attached below). The crack is internal and the box it was shipped in looks pristine, it must have happened before/while it was getting refurbed maybe? Or just missed?
What are my options? I put out my feeler to Woot to see if I can exchange it, but I'm guessing they will just point me to Moto for it to be fixed. [URL]
So - one of my dumb animals knocked my phone off a table (which they weren't supposed to be on in the first place) and it landed on the table foot (brass) face down and cracked the screen. The crack is down near the bottom (not on main viewing screen). Although the phone still works great, the crack is driving me crazy, and would anticipate it getting bigger at some point. I have the Verizon full replacement warranty, but don't really want a refurb as my BIONIC works perfect and don't want to get one someone returned that wasn't.
Just don't think Verizon will do anything except give me a refurb, and I don't have an upgrade coming for sometime.
I'm not a fan of the car dock app. I can only add one app to the shortcuts and I can't replace the existing ones. There's also a big back icon taking up space in the map app that I can't disable. Plus, I'd rather just use the default Google Navigation app instead. It has a better "follow me" feature when not navigating. Well, at least I like the first person perspective option versus the aerial point of view.
So, is it possible to replace the car app with a 3rd party app? I'd like it to launch instead of the Motorola one when the phone is docked. If so, what's a good 3rd party car app?
If that's not possible, then can I completely disable the car app from launching when docked? I'd prefer to keep using the Motorola car dock since I have Smart Actions that turn on GPS and Bluetooth when docked. I can press menu then exit to go to the home screen but when I press the home button it launches the car dock app again.
Since this morning i experience the problem that when i switch my phone on i cannot use the touchscreen. No input is accepted. When i switch the phone off and remove the battery and then switch it on the problem dissapears...
View 13 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to replace a broken screen on the Moto Droid? Even with protection, it was dropped and shattered. I saw a link on how to disassemble the DroidX, but how can you get a new screen?
View 1 Replies View Relatedust out of curiousity apple's iphone has a non removable battery, but if the battery needs to be replaced due to end of life (most cellphone batteries last about a year, maybe a little longer before it dosn't hold its charge as well) apple charges 80 dollars to have a new battery installed by them into your phone. Does motorola offer something simular? Or do we just have to get a new device once the battery is dead?
View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to replace the touch screen glass? I bout a replacement, but am not getting any support from the company I bought it from. Most of the phone is apart. I just can't get the phone itself and screen seperated at the rotary hinge.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a motorola i1 since September of 2010. Since then, I have had 3 refurbished i1's sent to me due to issues with the touchscreen messing up and not being able to receive calls. I am on my 4th phone and my touchscreen has messed up once again. It does random things on its own and selects things on the opposite side of the screen when I try to select something. It's very frustrating. Called customer service and have done master resets / feature resets and still it hasn't fixed the problem. It is so inconvenient for me to keep setting up new phones with our IT Department at work and I have spent countless hours on the phone with Nextel or at a Sprint / Nextel store and all they ever do is give me a refurbished phone. This has to be a common problem for me to continue having it!? Can someone provide some expertise or insight on this issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so there have been many reports of the ways in which the Milestone screen can act oddly... but here is one I just managed to crack. With the phone sitting on an insulating surface, running Multitouch Vis Test, and plugged into the charger, I press one finger down on the screen. The spot under my finger wiggles around a lot - e.g. x1 goes from 86-94 and back, y1 goes from 590-610 and back. Now, with my other hand I touch the phone's casing... and the wiggling stops, locking into one coordinate.
Now, pull the plug out... anomaly goes away. It only happens when my finger's on the phone. Why'd I notice this? Because in Swype, to obtain certain alternate letters you have to hold your finger down on a button. But the anomaly makes Swype think I'm wiggling my finger around and trying to Swype a word. So I hold down K to get a semicolon and instead it types "Jj" or "mk" or "ooo".
I have a Droid X on Verizon. From time to time, the touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive. The "real" buttons work, but the touchscreen does not. I can't even turn it off, so I need to remove the battery to reboot it. This seems to be the only solution.
View 13 Replies View RelatedIve had my Cliq for about 1 1/2 years, I used it every day for a few months, put it away, now the touch screen doesn't work at all. Managed to get 2.1 installed on it by using the keyboard to navigate through everything. Managed to do a factory reset to see if that is the problem, but it still does not work. I have not used this phone probably for 8 months, but before I stored it it was working perfectly fine. Was just wondering if maybe this is a software problem that occured with the update, or if it is just something internal. My waranty time period is over though, I was just going to try to sell this on Ebay since I have switched cell phone company to Verizon. .
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen i was using the Motorola SF600 headphones (nothing the break the fall when i dropped the unit) and the screen cracked. Ok no problem, cracked screen still works i can live with it. Now today my screen is blanking in and out basically i cant see anything on the screen. This sucks, the SF600 headphones failed me twice i should have never even tried them.Let me note I still have my 32gb 1g ipod touch which has been smashed and dropped on cement so many times guess what screen never cracked, not once the thing still works for crying out loud! Sad thing is i might buy another unit but motorola really has some suspect issues. I am thankfull i bought this unit from amazon warehouse deals and was issued a credit due to an incompelte box so out of pocket was maybe $150. But jeezus Motorola lets make some stufff that can last and survive an accidental drop.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have been going on and on with this.. My phone just isnt very responsive and the selections i make on the screen are not where i actually and clicking or selecting with my finger.. its like the screen needs calibrated or something.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my Motorola Droid for about 3 months now, bought it new from an overstock dealer on ebay, sealed box and clean MEID.
The phone has been working PERFECTLY up until now, where now the touch screen suddenly does not respond at all. I can see the phone is working fine; the keyboard works, volume and power button works, I can see all the icons running, the time changes, everything. Taking out the battery never works. I did a hard reset and had the touch screen working a few times, but it's really hit or miss. It eventually reverts back to not working.
Again as I said, I have tried hard resets, safe mode, taking the battery out and letting it sit, took the SD card out, formatted the SD card, everything.
This all seems highly unusual, I have craddled this thing since i've gotten it to be sure I do not damage it. It is in pristine condition in every respect. I have no way to replace it since I am with an independent phone company.
I've just started getting a problem where a certain area of the touchscreen doesn't register the input. For instance, I cannot get the letter "d". As I move my finger very slightly I will get either "s" or "f", but not "d" inbetween. However if I hold down and slide across, the d will register, at least sometimes. Surprisingly I have problems with the same letter in either portrait or landscape mode, which is a different place on the keyboard.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem since the new update. I see it the most when I am typing on the phone, the lower half of the space bar does not work, when i press it the phone vibrates as if I touched it but I don't get the space in the text, I have also seen it in the media player when I cant move the bar. it is as if the section at the bottom of the screen above the touch buttons doesn't do anything anymore, the phone senses that that part is being touched and vibrates but it does not do what it is supposed to do when touched in that location.
