Motorola I1 :: Touchscreen Messes Up
May 1, 2011
I have had a motorola i1 since September of 2010. Since then, I have had 3 refurbished i1's sent to me due to issues with the touchscreen messing up and not being able to receive calls. I am on my 4th phone and my touchscreen has messed up once again. It does random things on its own and selects things on the opposite side of the screen when I try to select something. It's very frustrating. Called customer service and have done master resets / feature resets and still it hasn't fixed the problem. It is so inconvenient for me to keep setting up new phones with our IT Department at work and I have spent countless hours on the phone with Nextel or at a Sprint / Nextel store and all they ever do is give me a refurbished phone. This has to be a common problem for me to continue having it!? Can someone provide some expertise or insight on this issue?

I have a problem where the alarm going off makes the UI almost impossible. I have to keep tapping on the snooze or the disabling button until it finally takes my input, it is aggravating. Another one is that when I tap on the headphones, from the jack, the music switches to handset, I have to tap it a bit hard and at a certain point again to get it to switch back to headset. The headset jack problem got worse in an update with 6.0(later type of 6.0 version), so I reverted(maybe the first 6.0 version), but that doesn't fix the problem, still, but it is less aggravating than before.

I just installed Belle FP2 on my 808 PureView to see if any of the FP1's wireless bugs were fixed. But so far it doesn't look too good.
If I create a custom internet target for my job needs and put some WiFi access points there, the phone still makes duplicate copies of them to Internet target upon connect.

My husband got his Tour yesterday and it was technically used for a day but is esentially considered new. He was playing with his phone last night and he notices when he goes to a certain menu the trackball messes up but if he exits out it's fine it's just the one menu. I told him to take it back to the store and let them know but the blackberry guy wasn't in so we have to wait. We have a 30 day in-store warranty but they said trackball issues they'll just repair and send it back to him themselves.

Okay so there have been many reports of the ways in which the Milestone screen can act oddly... but here is one I just managed to crack. With the phone sitting on an insulating surface, running Multitouch Vis Test, and plugged into the charger, I press one finger down on the screen. The spot under my finger wiggles around a lot - e.g. x1 goes from 86-94 and back, y1 goes from 590-610 and back. Now, with my other hand I touch the phone's casing... and the wiggling stops, locking into one coordinate.
Now, pull the plug out... anomaly goes away. It only happens when my finger's on the phone. Why'd I notice this? Because in Swype, to obtain certain alternate letters you have to hold your finger down on a button. But the anomaly makes Swype think I'm wiggling my finger around and trying to Swype a word. So I hold down K to get a semicolon and instead it types "Jj" or "mk" or "ooo".

I have a Droid X on Verizon. From time to time, the touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive. The "real" buttons work, but the touchscreen does not. I can't even turn it off, so I need to remove the battery to reboot it. This seems to be the only solution.

Ive had my Cliq for about 1 1/2 years, I used it every day for a few months, put it away, now the touch screen doesn't work at all. Managed to get 2.1 installed on it by using the keyboard to navigate through everything. Managed to do a factory reset to see if that is the problem, but it still does not work. I have not used this phone probably for 8 months, but before I stored it it was working perfectly fine. Was just wondering if maybe this is a software problem that occured with the update, or if it is just something internal. My waranty time period is over though, I was just going to try to sell this on Ebay since I have switched cell phone company to Verizon. .

I have had my Motorola Droid for about 3 months now, bought it new from an overstock dealer on ebay, sealed box and clean MEID.
The phone has been working PERFECTLY up until now, where now the touch screen suddenly does not respond at all. I can see the phone is working fine; the keyboard works, volume and power button works, I can see all the icons running, the time changes, everything. Taking out the battery never works. I did a hard reset and had the touch screen working a few times, but it's really hit or miss. It eventually reverts back to not working.
Again as I said, I have tried hard resets, safe mode, taking the battery out and letting it sit, took the SD card out, formatted the SD card, everything.
This all seems highly unusual, I have craddled this thing since i've gotten it to be sure I do not damage it. It is in pristine condition in every respect. I have no way to replace it since I am with an independent phone company.

I've just started getting a problem where a certain area of the touchscreen doesn't register the input. For instance, I cannot get the letter "d". As I move my finger very slightly I will get either "s" or "f", but not "d" inbetween. However if I hold down and slide across, the d will register, at least sometimes. Surprisingly I have problems with the same letter in either portrait or landscape mode, which is a different place on the keyboard.

I have had this problem since the new update. I see it the most when I am typing on the phone, the lower half of the space bar does not work, when i press it the phone vibrates as if I touched it but I don't get the space in the text, I have also seen it in the media player when I cant move the bar. it is as if the section at the bottom of the screen above the touch buttons doesn't do anything anymore, the phone senses that that part is being touched and vibrates but it does not do what it is supposed to do when touched in that location.

I currently have an issue with my Xoom 2, the Touchscreen has become non responsive and I am trying to shutdown to re-boot. However, as I am not able to press the button on screen to shut the unit down I am now stuck with a unit I cannot do anything with. I am guessing the only thing I can do is wait for the battery to run down so that way I can re-boot. However this is going to take days as the screen has a timeout of like 10 - 20 seconds so the battery is hardly being used. Is there any other way of shutting down the system? Ive tried holding the power button down but this does nothing. I really cannot believe Motorola did not put some sort of reset button somewhere in the unit.... Or would it make sense to attach to my PC and maybe be able to reboot?

When my Bionic is on the charger that came with the phone, the touchscreen acts totally erratically when trying to use it. If I'm trying to type a text message, it randomly hits letters, backspaces, etc. Same thing for trying to scroll and select stuff. However, the phone charges just fine. When I use the charger that came with my OG Droid dock, the phone is fine. Touchscreen works perfect. Same goes with the Moto car charger I have.
Assuming it was a bad charger, I spoke with Motorola chat online and they agreed to send me a new charger. I received it today (although it seems it's a different type of charger. It's not the USB cable with a wall adaptor, but an old school charger where the cable is permanently attached to the wall adaptor) but the phone seems to be doing the same thing (although it's not as severe as it was with the original charger that came with the phone).

My touchscreen frequently doesn't register my input in either swype or normal modes. This seems to happen primarily when searching contacts. Swype may show the word suggestion but it never appears in the search window. The only solution seems to be shutting down and removing the battery. Just restarting doesn't work. Neither does switching input methods.

This has only happened a couple times, but is really annoying when it does. The phone will be idle, not in use, and I will receive an incoming call. When I go to swipe the unlock/answer screen, the touchscreen is completely unresponsive and I have to let the call go to voice mail. I can't figure out what is causing it, but it periodically happens once or twice a week.

I got my HTC One over a few months ago, and I kinda broke my charger in the process. I have an extra charger that came from my GS3, and everytime I use it, the screen lags soo much. Does it have to do anything with the output rating? The output rating of the GS3's charger is 1.0A.

I signed up here less than 5 mins ago in the hopes of finding some assistance with my problem.I have a N97, the touchscreen is not responding at all, the phone starts fine, the keypad works fine, but the touchscreen isnt working.
I live in Trinidad, so there is no recognized company or nokia trianed technicians I can send it to.I did however send it to a general phone technician, he said that the touch sensor isnt working and he needs to get a touch sensor (have to wait 2-3weeks for this as there is a lack of parts for the N97 in my country also.I only read about the "hard reset" today on these forums, I plan to retrieve the phone from the technician tomorrow and try the hard reset but any information or ideas in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
I believe the phone may have fell down atleast once (sibling may have dropped it and didnt tell me)

So I am trying to find out more info on what technology of touch screen the 9800 will have. The main reason being that i played with the Droid Incredible and the I-Phone 4 and the touchscreen on the I-phone is so perfectly responsive. The Droid felt like crap to me, so all I could dig up for the 9800 was that it is a TFT touchscreen. Does anyone know what that means and what kind of performance to expect?
