When coming out of sleep mode the touchscreen stops working. Of course several times this has been right at the moment I grab the tablet to show how equal or dominant over the iPad it is.

I'm on my second Torch in 3 days. My touch screen stops working. my second phone is now having the same issue after 8hrs of having it. I have tried removing my protective privacy screen and still no dice. Is anyone else having this issue. I love the phone, but am thinking of switching to the Bold or iPhone since I have not had a reliable phone yet.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 3gs 16gig and the I broke the screen, the digitizer worked for a while so I just kept using it with the cracks on it. after the digitizer stopped working I did a full backup and went in to a local shop and had the screen and digitizer replaced. I then came home and did a restore and that gave me ios5.1. The phone worked great for a day then the touch screen started to stop working after about 10-30 seconds of use. I cant do anything with the phone without having to lock the screen and unlock it (sometimes that works, and sometimes I have to do that a few times because the touch screen doesn't work to unlock the phone) to continue using my phone.I am thinking it is because I upgraded to ios5.1, or is it a bad digitizer?

Before the upgrade to ICS I had my WiFi Xoom set to turn off WiFi when put to sleep and restart it automatically when awakened. Now that it has been upgraded to ICS it doesn't do this - WiFi stays on. I can't seem to find out where to set it to do this under ICS. As a matter of fact, I can't remember how I did it with Honeycomb.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI currently have an issue with my Xoom 2, the Touchscreen has become non responsive and I am trying to shutdown to re-boot. However, as I am not able to press the button on screen to shut the unit down I am now stuck with a unit I cannot do anything with. I am guessing the only thing I can do is wait for the battery to run down so that way I can re-boot. However this is going to take days as the screen has a timeout of like 10 - 20 seconds so the battery is hardly being used. Is there any other way of shutting down the system? Ive tried holding the power button down but this does nothing. I really cannot believe Motorola did not put some sort of reset button somewhere in the unit.... Or would it make sense to attach to my PC and maybe be able to reboot?

Its been discussed in other threads but thought it would be helpful to have people post the problem in a new thread to get more visibility and gather more information for Motorola so maybe they can help get it fixed for everyone who is having the problem.General Assumption on common Symptom:Xoom is going to sleep if left idle and is not waking up. Additionally if left idle is also observed to be rebooting on its own. Often takes the 3 finger salute (vol up + vol Down + power) to get device to come back on. Battery life seems to be lower than normal due to problem.
Is Xoom refusing to wake up when attached to power when it goes to sleep? Is Xoom refusing to wake up when not attached to charger when it goes to sleep? How long does it take after device is sleeping for problem to occur? Is there any difference with device "freezing" or not waking up from when let it go to sleep on its own, or when you hit power button to put it to sleep? Have you done a factory reset on your device? If you have done a factory reset did you test the device for problem before adding your applications back?When trying to wake up device how many times did you push power button?Is device appearing to reboot itself and when is it doing so? While you are trying to get it out of sleep mode? (when power button is pushed)Spontaneously without any user interaction with the tablet? Other? Does your battery seem to be draining much faster than normal?Does problem occur if Xoom is connected via USB to the PC?Does is always come out of sleep? Does it randomly reboot?
I have a brand new Motorola Xoom that im having proplems watching videos online. I can watch videos for about 1minute then it stops.

I have 3.1 update, and 9.5 gb free on internal storage. It happens with on device MP3's as well.Not a wi-fi issue as it happens with wi-fi off. Any thoughts fellow Xoomers? I did search the forums already, and saw some mention of Andro Explorer causing this

Web searching/browsing just comes to a halt and eventually there is a message saying that there is no internet connectivity.owever the icon at the bottom right of the screen shows an excellent signal. am wondering if the problem is the internet service provider or wifi router or if the problem is with the xoom. Is this usual or is something wrong here?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi just recently got the xoom, it convinced me enough on reviews and looks but now i'm frustrated beyond belief. one of the main reasons i wanted a tablet was to use it to view videos online without having to download them and transfer them over.but that's all gone down hill since i brought home the xoom. i love it, my family loves it but it keeps dropping the connection only when i view videos. be it Internet or anything else, my connection will be dropped at about a minute but before reaching two minutes. basically all i have ever gotten to view is two minutes into videos before i get cut off. i can be standing right next to my router with perfect connection on everything but as soon as a video begins to play the connection gets dropped and i'm stuck with a brick in my hand.
i've tested it out with other devices such as my phone, and my 2 laptops, even the family wii and videos play like a charm. the xoom however likes to give me a small preview and then cut me off. i've looked into the problem all over the internet and haven't found any solution. before i get the whole it's your router spiel it's only happening when i try streaming a video. i've updated all i could think off to the latest versions but to no avail. i even focused on looking at the wifi indicator to see that it will have strong signal and be working perfectly but at around a minute and a half it shoots down the connection and shoots back up. this isn't a problem if i'm just browsing the web but the videos don't seem to resume loading after it gets the connection back.
When watching videos and listening to football commentary online the player keeps stopping and wont come back online until I restart the page it plays for about 1min then stops again?

I have to do a physical battery pull and then it starts working again. I thought maybe it is a software issue and upgraded to the official 7.0.0.592 yesterday however the problem still remains the same.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI returned my first RAZR because the crackle and buzzing on speaker phone / playing videos was too much. On this phone it's less pronounced but still there. Anyway the sleep timer on thus new phone does not work. I did a factory reset and nothing. Non related but I noticed that my 4G speed on this new phone is way slower. Maybe that's a Verizon issue.
I hope I can get this sleep timer issue solved.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if Moto is aware of the bug introduced in .173. Ever since the OTA a few months back the orientation/rotation sensor randomly stops working. I haven't been able to track it down to any particular app, but instead have a feeling that it's caused by any app that forces a horizontal orientation. I don't want to limit it to just that though, but basically after this bug is triggered, tilting the phone manually into horizontal orientation doesn't rotate the screen and any games/apps that use the tilt sensor stop responding to it completely. I launched Elixir tools while this issue was occurring and in the Sensor section of the app the two sensors that deal with orientation, the orientation and the rotation vector sensors are jumping all over the place. A reboot fixes this for a few days or possibly until i launch an app that triggers this bug and then it's the same thing all over again.

The phone will still vibrate and function fine except for ringing or letting me know about alert/alarms. I am on the latest firmware 45.4.13 but this issue has been ongoing for the past 3 firmware upgrades I have done. I have done factore resets multiple times and ran nothing but stock apps for a full month but it contnues to happen. Honestly it does not bother me to remember to reboot by phone each night but i have missed two VERY important calls because I was in another room and did not hear it ring.
View 4 Replies View RelatedClean boot (restart), the proximity sensor works fine (when on call it turns screen off, when moved away from face screen on). As soon as I make or receive call via bluetooth (Motorola brand btw.) The proximity sensor stops working. When on call it will not turn the screen off... Rebooting the phone will fix until a call is made/received via bluetooth. This was confirmed with other Moto phones (Photon...) as well as different bluetooth devices.

Anyone else having trouble with Netlfix on the Xoom following the upgrade to Android 4.0 (ICS)? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Netflix app from the Android Market three times and Netflix can't connect to the server.
Netflix now works with ICS after uninstalling TV Guide app.
Have got 2 broadband dongles (Vodafone and 3) and used both SIMs in the XOOM and they worked fine (after the obligatory reboot). However they no longer work and try as I might i can't get them to work.
If it helps when there is no SIM in the tablet I don't get the No SIM present on the home page screen.
I have tried everything even a factory reset but nothing. don't make me buy an iPad - i couldn't stand it!
Other symptons are that the battery life seems to be much shorter now but this could be an illusion.
I have noticed on a number of occasions that I have plugged my Xoom into the charger, and come back to find that it was not being charged. Unplugging the Xoom from the end of the charger made no difference, but unplugging the charger from the mains supply and plugging it in again seems to work. This does NOT happen if you plug the Xoom charger into the mains supply, then attach the Xoom, but only if the Xoom charger has been left plugged into the mains for a while without the Xoom being attached.I think this behaviour is by DESIGN - it appears that the Xoom charger switches off internally if left connected to the mains (but NOT connected to the Xoom) for a while. Disconnecting it from, and reconnecting it to, the mains "reboots" the charger, and it works again. This is a good idea, as it decreases the power consumption of the unit (I'm afraid I have loads of non-connected power chargers left plugged into the mains).

I recently bought a LUVTAB soft case for the xoom which I liked and thought good value but later noticed that the magnetic and orientation sensors weren't working (androSensor app). It took a while to suss out that it was the case causing the fault. With the XOOM 90% into the case all is well, it isn''t until the Motorola logo at the top goes under the case lip that the sensors stop working. So the question is has anyone else noted this effect?
