View 15 Repliesi just recently got the xoom, it convinced me enough on reviews and looks but now i'm frustrated beyond belief. one of the main reasons i wanted a tablet was to use it to view videos online without having to download them and transfer them over.but that's all gone down hill since i brought home the xoom. i love it, my family loves it but it keeps dropping the connection only when i view videos. be it Internet or anything else, my connection will be dropped at about a minute but before reaching two minutes. basically all i have ever gotten to view is two minutes into videos before i get cut off. i can be standing right next to my router with perfect connection on everything but as soon as a video begins to play the connection gets dropped and i'm stuck with a brick in my hand.
i've tested it out with other devices such as my phone, and my 2 laptops, even the family wii and videos play like a charm. the xoom however likes to give me a small preview and then cut me off. i've looked into the problem all over the internet and haven't found any solution. before i get the whole it's your router spiel it's only happening when i try streaming a video. i've updated all i could think off to the latest versions but to no avail. i even focused on looking at the wifi indicator to see that it will have strong signal and be working perfectly but at around a minute and a half it shoots down the connection and shoots back up. this isn't a problem if i'm just browsing the web but the videos don't seem to resume loading after it gets the connection back.
i didn't quite get it, but when i start a clip playbakc in Internet app or browser the playback stops when switching to another app.i need it to continue...use case - i want to listen to the music and look at the cords at the same time.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have now tried three separate music players (ATT Music Player, Google Music and Winamp. All three have a common problem. I begin playing music, and then after a minute or so, the music stops.I've tried several fixes over the last couple of weeks to rectify the issue including:
-Music players are not on the "Auto-End List."
-I've taken programs that seem to be associated with playing music off the "Auto-End List"
-Phone battery savings setting: Performance Mode
-Screen timeout is set at 1 minute. (I know that this should not affect the music player.)The only time that this doesn't happen is when I set the screen timeout to never. So when it is set to timeout, or when I turn the phone off via the power button, the music plays for a minute or so and then stops.
I'm having another issue with the xoom. Whenever I open an excel spreadsheet the document opens then closes within a minute. I believe it has something to do with my RAM.

(Normal Wifi Symbol idicating it)I tried changing the stand-by settings, but that did not seem to change anything.I tried connecting to my Wifi with other phones, and it works well and gives a constantly good connetion.

I have 3.1 update, and 9.5 gb free on internal storage. It happens with on device MP3's as well.Not a wi-fi issue as it happens with wi-fi off. Any thoughts fellow Xoomers? I did search the forums already, and saw some mention of Andro Explorer causing this

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a wifi only xoom and during use roughly about once an hour or sometimes more frequent) the xoom stops acivity. Web searching/browsing just comes to a halt and eventually there is a message saying that there is no internet connectivity.owever the icon at the bottom right of the screen shows an excellent signal. am wondering if the problem is the internet service provider or wifi router or if the problem is with the xoom. Is this usual or is something wrong here?

I was not in the text app and recording a video as of I were going to send it, but rather the normal camera mode. Is this the default? If so, can it be changed? I have tried to uninstall the update that came through and the system automatically restored the factory version, but still it keeps crashing. View 5 Replies View RelatedVerizon Xoom 3.2 Watching a movie that I transferred to the Xoom from my computer like I've been doing for months now (even after the 3.2 update). Paused it to take care of some things. Come back in about 20 minutes and the Xoom is locked up. Had to do a volume up/power button to restart it.After restarting, movies won't play. Neither will video taken with the Xoom. When I go into Gallery and touch a video, the screen sort of dims but nothing else happens. Normally when I select a movie, I get a choice of stock player or RockPlayer.If I open RockPlayer from my Apps, I can play the movie.I did an additional power down/power up but still video will not work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have problems when watching video with sound out via bluetooth. Sometimes the playback begins to stutter severely and becomes unwatchable. The problem was present already with Honeycomb. I hoped it would go away with ICS, but it didn't. I am wondering if others have the same problem and if they have found a solution? The problem is intermittent. If I restart my Xoom playback is usually fine. Sometimes it is possible to watch a full movie, but usually the playback fails after a while. Or just as I start playback. I have tried several different apps for video playback and also tried with wifi shut off. No difference. I have used both a Jawbone Jambox and a Belkin bluetooth receiver. No difference. Once the problem appears, only a reboot will fix it. However playback over wire or internal speakers is still fine. Even after a reboot the problem will return after a while. Typically as playback is started. I have the Jawbone less than two meters away. Using a wired connection to the jawbone or headphones is an easy workaround, and what I normally do, but it would be nice if BT worked with video playback.

View 3 Replies View Relatedis anyone else finding that their screen freezes if they are tring to watch any soet of video streaming? If i try and watch something lke bbc iplayer, on a good day i can just about get it to work at the small screen size that loads with the window, but if i try and go full screen the image frreezes but the audio track contiunes. It's the same if i try and export via hdmi. I have pretty solid wifi speed and signal strength is minimum of "fair " to "good/excellent " And it's not just iplayer but that is most common as major reason for purchase was to act as a wireless hub stream to my tv.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen this mentioned on this forum, so I'd thought I would share. I have seen Splashtop in different Xoom app sections, always listed as a remote desktop software. As such, I didn't pay it much mind. However, I found someone in another forum talk about how good it is for streaming video over your local wifi network, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The results are actually quite fantastic, especially for a 5 dollar app. It does quite a good job as a remote desktop app, but it also transcodes video and audio to stream in very good quality to the Xoom. I have streamed 1080p movies, Netflix, etc, all to my Xoom with no delay or noticable drop in quality or video/audio sync. Note: this only works on your local WiFi network, but it's ideal for watching videos from your PC in bed.
View 15 Replies View Relatedi have a xoom that i got today and am totally in love with it.... or was until an hour ago! i've tried to watch embedded videos (ranging from 8-35 minutes long) from multiple sources (my schools website, Internet.com, etc) and every single time it starts playing great and i can see the buffering indicator moving along until it gets about 1/3 complete and then it stops. suddenly the buffer indicator jumps to the end and the video plays until it reached the point in which it stopped earlier. at that point the video ends and gives me the "replay" option. i've factory data reset the device already, tried watching long videos through the Internet app (that works perfectly), and uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash 10.3.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI received my 3.1 update this morning and now I can no longer play the three video files that reside on my Xoom. I created them with Freemake Video Converter. I can, however, play a video that I recorded with the built-in application (recorded after the update).
