View 2 Replies View RelatedI just replaced a glass screen on my father's Motorola Xoom with the 4G LTE upgrade. Total cost was $101 and about two hours of time. The Xoom was dropped on a tile floor and had multiple cracks in the glass, but was still functional. Just want all you fellow Xoom owners to know it can be done yourself if you have at least a bit of skills (and a hair dryer).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have enjoyed my motoactv to a certain degree, despite portal failures, bugs, and the like, but my latest experience is very disappointing.Add me to the list of persons that has had the device fall and develop a hairline crack in the screen. Ok I've seen the other horror stories on the forum about support. My device works fine, but I don't want it to get wet now with the screen crack.
I opened a call, and since I am from Canada, I was given a repair location that is right in my home city. Perfect! However they refused to even look at the device, claiming they repair Motorola phones but not the motoactv. I provided the Motorola ticket number and explained that Motorola referred me to them. They couldn't care less and refused to accept the device. I regulary use a US address, and so opened up a new case; and shipped my device to the US. The *very* day within hours of receiving notification that I would have to pay to have the motoactv fixed, (This is not a problem for me.) I phoned in and requested that the repair be made, and provided payment by credit card.I have a Gran Fondo event in Mid July, and will *definitely* be using my Garmin. Looks like I have perhaps totally wasted my money on this device, although for now I can use it as an mp3 player when I go to the gym......
My Motorola Cliq 2 has a cracked lens and I also have another cliq 2 and I want to switch lenses if its possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot home from work today sat down, checked some emails on my phone, then plugged it in to charge on the table beside me. I took a shower and when I came out to check for messages on the device the glass had a single crack from the top to the about half way down the right side. What the hell? I had this phone for about 7 days and havnt so much as fumbled it in my hands. Since the Rogers store didnt open until 12pm, I decided to do some research about this and see if this problem has affected anyone else. To my surprise this is a well noted issue with these phones, yet I see nowhere that Motorola has stepped up to issue a notice or recall reguarding this. So I took my phone in to the store and the employee was amazed as well, since the phone is in mint shape and definatly doest apear to be abused.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI unboxed my first Woot! purchase 30 mintues ago (a Xoom Wifi refurb), which unfortunately has a 3/4" crack in the internal screen (picture attached below). The crack is internal and the box it was shipped in looks pristine, it must have happened before/while it was getting refurbed maybe? Or just missed?
What are my options? I put out my feeler to Woot to see if I can exchange it, but I'm guessing they will just point me to Moto for it to be fixed. [URL]
So - one of my dumb animals knocked my phone off a table (which they weren't supposed to be on in the first place) and it landed on the table foot (brass) face down and cracked the screen. The crack is down near the bottom (not on main viewing screen). Although the phone still works great, the crack is driving me crazy, and would anticipate it getting bigger at some point. I have the Verizon full replacement warranty, but don't really want a refurb as my BIONIC works perfect and don't want to get one someone returned that wasn't.
Just don't think Verizon will do anything except give me a refurb, and I don't have an upgrade coming for sometime.
i recently tried flashing my v3m to altell. But it fail in the process and now it just shows the altell boot then goes to bootloader mode. But when trying to reflash it gets to flash group 2 and fails. I used rsd lite and radio comm. FLASH FAILED: Tx RQHW boot cmd failed. Boot Command: RQHW M-Link error 0008: DeviceIoControl() result falied during USB device I/O.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf Moto does not unlock the bootloader shortly for my Atrix I will be selling the phone and moving to a Samsung Galaxy S II as soon as it's available. Moto, provide a date as to when you will provide an unlocked bootloader. I know this is a hot topic, but if you can not keep up with Development then allow me as the owner of the phone to do as I wish. Take samsungs lead and send your phones to CyanogenMod

HTC is unlocking their phones.
I'm writing to ask for your favor - Please provide us, some enterprising Defy (MB525) owners, a way to unlock the bootloader.Rationale:1. You are providing means to unlock the bootloader on many newer devices already, and it shouldn't cost you much to provide us a mean to unlock the Defy as well.2. The warranty of many of our Defy devices is expiring, so even if we brick our device, we couldn't file a warranty claim anyway.3. The Defy is the 2nd most popular devices running CyanogenMod according to http://stats.cyanogenmod.com/, so we have a huge following.4. If you allow us to unlock the bootloader, we will consider it as a gesture of goodwill and will be more willing to recommend our families and friends to buy Motorola devices in future.
5. Many other manufacturers have started to unlock their bootloaders and by comparison, Motorola is doing very poorly and has a bad image in our mind.6. Many of us bought the Defy without any carrier subsidy.7. Come on! Give us a Christmas gift, okay
In the unlock FAQs, it is mentioned that the bootloader can be re-locked. However, I can't seem to find any instructions on how to do this. So, how do you do it? I've only unlocked my bootloader. Everything else about the phone is stock. I haven't flashed any new ROMs or anything else.

View 3 Replies View Relatedthat Moto continues to support the Photon, with ICS in development for Q4. However, there are community developers that could have a fully-complete, stable ICS build ready in a matter of WEEKS if Moto were kind enough to unlock our bootloader and provide us with a few updated drivers.Would it not be good customer service to provide users with this? Would it not improve customer loyalty? I am a big fan of Motorola devices, but I can see why people are being driven away by their locked-down nature. I implore you, Motorola, to please provide an official unlock tool and make available updated driver libraries and/or source code.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor those of us wishing Motorola would unlock the bootloader like HTC, it looks like AT&T is cracking down on HTC. I've been reading the new HTC One or X or whatever it is, running on AT&T will not be able to use the unlock tool. View 9 Replies View RelatedTotally stock Defy, upgraded to 2.2 and on its 2nd ear speaker. While in the browser the phone froze compleatly, so after waiting a while I pulled the battery, and on restarting it went straight to a bootloader screen. Then when i connect to the PC it, just changes the last line to Transfer Mode OK.I have tried the Start button and Volume rocker switch, but this seems to do nothing. Please tell my "Life proof" phone isn't dead before my 2 year contract is up!? I have tried googling, but all the help I can find, seems to be for people who are rooting their Devices, I would just like to state that is not what I was, or am trying to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a droid2, bought used but stock to my knowledge. Has received many OTA updates previously no issues. Accepted an OTA update this morning (verizon, not sure what code it was, I didn't look closely enough). Update failed and phone now only boots to bootloader. I have tried the power up while holding X key, and that gets me to triangle and droid guy, but from the search key does nothing, I cannot get the menu up to reset the phone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am getting a bootloader 03.14 battery low error when I try and charge my watch.
I was using my watch as a timepiece and the battery ran out, that evening I tried to charge it using the mains adapter but a warning flashed up saying 'Bootloader 03.14 battery low cannot program'
When I try and charge it through the computers usb then only the white light near the usb turns on. this then goes off after a few minutes.
I have read that someone else had a similar error that they thought was something to do with water damage but this is not the case with my watch as it happened on a dry sunny day.
I have tried leaving it plugged in for 1hr to charge, still no luck. The only thing that happens is that the watch becomes hot.
There is no other sign of life to the watch apart from the error message and/or the white usb light.
The world knows updates in a Motorola phone is very slow! This leaves power users with no other option but to go for custom ROMs. Even there locked bootloader is always a very big problem! Moto promised long back to unlock bootloaders. Defy and Defy+ are now quite old phones and will receive no update either! So now is there any hope that the bootloaders will be unlocked? This deters most devs and power users from getting Moto phones inspite of an excellent build quality. Hope we get a reply and this thread don't die without any use!

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MOTOACTV is acting very oddly. When I plug it into my PC the charge light comes on but will not connect to MOTOCAST and no icon pops up to say that it is plugged in. I do not currently have my initial charger but when I was on with support they asked me to plug it into my LG phone adapter. When I did this my MOTOACTV turned on, and said it was charging. However the display quickly went from 5% to 20% to 60% to 100% and then the light turns off and it doesn't start charging. When I plug it in via the other charger and hold all the other buttons it starts the Bootloader which says "Battery Low Cannot Program". I used it this past weekend and it must have lost its charge...
View 14 Replies View RelatedUpon turning on my Triumph, the phone states the phrase "Incoming Download Mode" once, then repeats the following message over and over, on a black screen: "polling, get oemsbl_mode = 1". Apparently this is the bootloader mode. I am Not inadvertently or intentionally holding down the volume down button or any other button at the same time as the power button, as many forums mention as the possible problem. I have tried: pulling the battery for hours; pulling the battery and holding down the power key for 30 seconds; pressing the volume up and down keys a lot when the phone is off and the battery out (in case up or down volume button is stuck), then powering up the phone. In none of the above scenarios is the phone connected to anything via USB cord. At the time my phone developed this problem about 48 hours ago, I was simply surfing the web on my phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedTHE STRING "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" DOES NOT RETURN ANY DEVICE ID. WHY?The bootloader on Motorola devices released before August 2012 is not unlockable. This fastboot command will not return a device ID or unlock data for these Motorola devices. At this point, only the devices on our Supported Devices list are eligible for the unlockable bootloader program.HOW DO I TELL IF MY DEVICE HAS AN UNLOCKABLE/RE-LOCKABLE BOOTLOADER?This depends on a few factors. First is whether the device ships with a bootloader that is capable of being unlocked or re-locked. Second is whether the wireless carrier that sells the device allows the bootloader to be unlocked, as each of our operator partners has their own policy. As new devices are released, please check the bootloader introduction page. You will be able to check whether your device shipped with an unlockable bootloader. We will be adding devices to this list regularly. As of August 2012, the only Motorola devices which can be unlocked are:
Photon Q 4G LTE (Sprint)
RAZR Developer Edition (Europe Only)
XOOM
Now above what I have bolded are my areas of concern. In particular, the second quote:First is whether the device ships with a bootloader that is capable of being unlocked or re-locked.The Motorola Atrix HD has indeed shipped with a bootloader that is capable of being unlocked or re-locked. It supports the exact same commands as the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE does, the commands of:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
fastboot oem lock
This device fits that exact definition. Running a strings.exe runthrough of the bootloader from the Atrix HD shows that it indeed supports these commands, and anyone with this device and the android-sdk can run these commands themselves. The part where the unlocking process is stuck is the Motorola "Unlock My Device" webkit, where the results of "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" were pasted into the box to get the emailed UNIQUE_KEY to put into "fastboot oem unlock [ unlock code ] " as the same process is the Photon Q 4G LTE. The site comes up with this error:As you can see, we can assume the second half of the "few factors" as the faq pointed out:Second is whether the wireless carrier that sells the device allows the bootloader to be unlocked, as each of our operator partners has their own policy.Assuming this, it is then AT&T's decision that the Motorola Atrix HD has a locked bootloader, but the device DOES support unlocking and re-locking, contrary to the first quote in this post from their faq about devices before August 2012 NOT supporting these functions. The bootloader on Motorola devices released before August 2012 is not unlockable. So my question is, will this information be able to get corrected, or is Motorola planning to make an announcement that the Motorola Atrix HD will not be unlocked because of AT&T, but that the hardware and software actually support unlocking and re-locking?
when i was using the Motorola SF600 headphones (nothing the break the fall when i dropped the unit) and the screen cracked. Ok no problem, cracked screen still works i can live with it. Now today my screen is blanking in and out basically i cant see anything on the screen. This sucks, the SF600 headphones failed me twice i should have never even tried them.Let me note I still have my 32gb 1g ipod touch which has been smashed and dropped on cement so many times guess what screen never cracked, not once the thing still works for crying out loud! Sad thing is i might buy another unit but motorola really has some suspect issues. I am thankfull i bought this unit from amazon warehouse deals and was issued a credit due to an incompelte box so out of pocket was maybe $150. But jeezus Motorola lets make some stufff that can last and survive an accidental drop.
