Motorola Xoom :: Wifi Connectivity Doesnt Last For 3.1?
May 14, 2011
i have a problem with some wifi networks as the connection goes idle after few minutes and i have to disconnect and reconnect in order to surf the web. i have read that there was some hardware update released on april 28th that fixes some issues with proxy and ssl is that update included in 3.1 or it is separate hardware specific one
Just wanna to know, is there any possibility for connecting USB Huawei or ZTE modem (Reliance or Tata photon) dongle to xoom, dialer installation APK file for internet access.
When I tried to restore the defaults by reflashing it with rsd lite, it ran a time, but my pc crashed. The restore went fine, but the connectivity was dead. when i tried to reflash, i got a new not known device called Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 and rsd failed. When i've done that before it always went fine... only this time not. I searched a lot in the net, but didn't found a way to recover it.
the one thing that bugs the crap out of me is that the hard grey back cover doesnt line up flush with the softer top black peice where the speakers and camera are. it came out of the box this way. its only on the right side though (if im looking at the screen). it is perfectly fine on the side where the camera and power button are and fine in the center.i know to some this may seem trivial especially if you dont have this issue but i feel like i paid A LOT for this device and should have the quality build that was intended by motorola and was expected by me. the consumer.is this something that i could send in to moto to get adjusted? am i better off trying to "fix" it myself? am i alone in this issue?
All i see in the router status under attached devices is:140:FC:89:21:1A:73the 1st -- is supposedly the device name, the second -- is supposedly the IP....neither ever show up and the xoom constantly loses data connection even though it says its connected.fortunately for me, i'm only stuck with this pile of junk 2 more days but it seems like a major issue to me, probably in netgears firmware.
I'm in Ontario Canada. I'm wondering why I can't access the web page where my webmail is located. The screen says, "Data connectivity problem. A secure connection could not be established".Does this mean I will not be able to access my persona.ca emails on ths device?
Seems that the wifi and cellular networks get crossed or linked together. When one of them loses connection, they both go down and both icons show exclamation marks. Happens randomly. Sometimes when i disable the wifi, my 4g loses connection momentarily.
My Maxx does not reconnect to 3 or 4G after using WIFI. When I toggle off wifi the 4G bars are white and I get a no connectivity message when trying to get e-mail. Then I restart the phone and all is good.
It says I'm connected. The top has those bars in the shape of a baseball diamond, but when I try and browse it says that the page has moved. I have tried channel 1, and channel 11. I'm trying to connect to my homes wifi, which I have the password for, and I put in, says its all right.. the same of the network is exactly right. I tried the push button method also, that didn't work..
Several times/day now my droid razr HD loses all connectivity. No wifi, no 3g/4g/1x anything. All the indicators are grey and I can't connect to anything. Usually what I have to do is go into airplane mode and then back out and then things are back. I can't say for sure but I thought there was a time or two where I had to do a power cycle to get things back. Not positive about that. I've only had the phone for a few weeks, and I'm pretty sure it's always done this.
I believe that there is a problem with the Atrix network stack. When operating at home (Lapdock or HD dock or stand-alone) I prefer to use the local WiFi connection (because the cellular signal is useless for data here on the _9th_floor_ (thanks T-Mobile UK).
However:
1/ On its own the Atrix does not properly switch to _use_ WiFi- it tries to use either WiFi or GPRS/3G/HSPA from time to time. This does not work well (read the reviews that say that the Lapdock is slow and I think that this is the problem being reported);
2/ I installed Juicedefender which is free and which switches OFF the GPRS/3G/HSPA radio when WiFi is being used:
BUT - then I notice that the WiFi data stream stops after about 90s and only re-starts after either several minutes have elapsed _or_ I switch off and on again the WiFi radio. VERY POOR. Worse, on checking with my router, the ATRIX remains _connected_ to the WiFi network at all times - so this is the internal software losing contact with the active network interface.
After installing the Jelly Bean update on my Razr Maxx, I have been unable to connect to WiFi. I have factory reset, reset my router and wiped the cache.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
i was on ios 5.0.1 and my wifi was working then recently it stopped working, so i updated to ios 5.1 thinking it was gonna work but it still didnt. theres nothing wrong with my network so idk what it is
from the Motorola Australia page:"We have an update for all of our Xoom fans. We have now submitted our final round of software to our carrier partners for testing. It will take two weeks for them to test. Provided there are no issues found during the testing, we expect to upgrade Motorola Xoom to Ice Cream Sandwich for both WiFi and 3G users on June 21st.About time they gave us a date. Now to see if they will meet this date.
Connected to WIFI at home, disconnect from WIFI to go to work and Xoom never get connected to 4G/3G/1X. I power off and power back on then it connects to 4G/LTE.
This happening consistently now.
It looks like LTE maybe weak in my area as I see one or two bars but it should have switch to 3G.
I'm from Canada and I have the Xoom with Wifi only. I was able to connect to my home wifi network without problem and my signal strengh is like 75% so pretty good but when playing with the device (going on web, searching apps in the market, check weather, etc....anything that need to use my wifi to get to Internet, it happen often that even if I'm still connected, that it can't get to Internet anymore. At the begenning I was using the reboot option to fix this and then I saw that I can use the airplaone mode on and then off to drop connection and recreate it and then I just have to refresh the web page I am and it's working again. It can happen at ± 5 mins of Internet use.
I bring my xoom to my job and tested it and signal strengh is up the roof (router at my desk!), Internet is 10meg fiber and I get the same issue. I was gessing someone already reported this issue but I don't see it. Is it something known, what can I do to resolve this and is there a fix comming for that?
My xoom is stuck on 3.0.1, and will not update at all. It tells me update is available, but when I do it, it fails every time. This is a wifi only model, and I'm in Texas.
I just got a Samsung Moment. Previous phone, a Palm Pre, connected to my WiFi without a single problem. Just typed in the password once and from then on it never gave me trouble. But the Moment wouldn't work with WiFi at all for the longest time. It would see the network and let me type in the password, but the WiFi status would always say "Disconnected" and there was never an icon in the notification area. Finally I managed to get it working by switching my router from mixed mode to 802.11g only (it's a combination DSL modem/router, made by Actiontec, with 802.11b and 802.11g). Now it seems to work perfectly. I was just wondering if anyone else had similar problems, perhaps with mixed mode g/n? Maybe it's just my router, but I'm curious. At least I didn't have to make any sacrifices other than disabling 802.11b, which I don't need anyway.
I'm new to Android & xoom and being long in the tooth I am enjoying the up hill learning curve. I recently bought a LUVTAB soft case for the xoom which I liked and thought good value but later noticed that the magnetic and orientation sensors weren't working (androSensor app). It took a while to suss out that it was the case causing the fault. With the XOOM 90% into the case all is well, it isn''t until the Motorola logo at the top goes under the case lip that the sensors stop working. So the question is has anyone else noted this effect?
Before the upgrade to ICS I had my WiFi Xoom set to turn off WiFi when put to sleep and restart it automatically when awakened. Now that it has been upgraded to ICS it doesn't do this - WiFi stays on. I can't seem to find out where to set it to do this under ICS. As a matter of fact, I can't remember how I did it with Honeycomb.
I just bought a Xoom wifi only because I thought it would be handy to have a tablet that I can use to swap files between my pc and my device, and now I see that though there is an sd slot it's pretty much just a decoration at this point. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this thing to work, or when Motorola/Andriod will fix that? And yes, I do know there are apps that I can use to access PC files over a wireless network, but i wanted to be able to bring a few sd cards worth of movies with me on the road when i travel since after i fill the device up with music and apps there's not a whole lot of room left.
I have Xoom wifi and received the ICS upgrade yesterday. I've noticed that my wifi seems to drop out quite a bit even though it's the same setup as before the upgrade (wireless-n) in my home. No changes to the network and all other devices are working fine. Seems the Xoom keeps dropping the connection and re-connecting -- even when I'm online (such as with browser or email).
