View 11 RepliesI have Xoom wifi and received the ICS upgrade yesterday. I've noticed that my wifi seems to drop out quite a bit even though it's the same setup as before the upgrade (wireless-n) in my home. No changes to the network and all other devices are working fine. Seems the Xoom keeps dropping the connection and re-connecting -- even when I'm online (such as with browser or email).
View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter dutifully submitting crash reports to New York Times for their tablet app, which now crashes for me shortly after starting up on the first scroll in a news article, I finally thought I would give the folks at NYT a call since I'm paying for a subscription to the Times for the content. After being told that the NYT developers actually don't work for the Times (outsourced apparently) the customer support engineer then told me that the problem lies with Motorola Thought you all might be interested in that gem of logical troubleshooting.
I can use the Web browser to access my content, but I did like the convenience of using the application. Today, I'm going to try a dump and reload. And by-the-way, I'm considering downrev'ing at NYT to the android smartphone app, since it appears to run fine with Xoom + Extra Tools, but I'm currently blocked from the content by the licensing for the tablet version over the smartphone version.
My VZW rep isn't quite sure. She sent me a link that takes you to a page that just asks for a username and password. No explanation as to WHICH username or password and no info when it fails as to what it is looking for. She told me it would take 3 days once it go to them. Which I might point out was NOT what we were told about it being end-user upgradable to 4G once it came out.Verizon's info shows you how to do a backup and then pack it for shipping, but no info on how to GET the shipping materials or address.
I called VZW today and the tech in Enterprise Support didn't know.I'm about to hop onto the Verizon website and use my personal account an initiate a chat session to find out.
This morning is the second time that my Motorola Xoom has frozen up on me since I received it back from Motorola after the 4G LTE upgrade. I never had any problems whatsoever with this tablet prior to the upgrade. Each time required me to perform a reset via the power and volume up buttons and could be related to either the hardware upgrade, Android 3.2.2 OS upgrade that they added or even to various applications that might not be playing well with the OS upgrade.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that can tell me what apps on my XOOM are using data? I just got my XOOM back from the 4G upgrade, and the data use has shot through the roof.Literally, I drove 15 minutes down the road today and used 250mb of data. I was connected to my Wi-Fi network at home, then obviously my XOOM would have connected to 4G once I was out of range.I have the same widgets and settings as before the upgrade, and I literally just can't make sense of 250mb in 15 minutes. It's nuts, when I rarely use more than 750mb on my data plan, per month
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I just signed up for the 4g upgrade, but was curious if anyone from the beta group could comment on their experience, specifically how long it took. The reason I'm asking is because I leave for vacation on the 8th of October and will be gone for 2 weeks.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, VZW pushed 3.2 to my Xoom. Installed it this morning. Rebooted. Put microSD card into the slot. Xoom does not read it.

View 13 Replies View RelatedSince I got my baby back ladt week, I've had some reocurring problems. While in the browser, I find it closes without warning or message, often. Sometimes it even reboots.
Also, i've had several reboots when touching anything in Settings. I've factory reset a couple of times, and will again shortly.
Has anyone had issues using the verizonwireless app after the 4g upgrade? Also, when I log into the my account through the we browser it says that my sim is in an unsupported device.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got my upgraded XOOM back a few days ago, and I've noticed that the battery life is far, far worse than it was before I sent it away. I mainly use my XOOM for reading ebooks, so I nearly always have airplane mode on. Before the upgrade, I could go several days, sometimes even a week before having to charge the battery, even with occasional excursions outside airplane mode.
However, after the upgrade, I can have the XOOM fully charged, in airplane mode, read for an hour just before going to sleep, shut off the screen, and wake up the next day with 60% battery remaining, as opposed to being in the 90-95% range before the upgrade.
The battery usage app shows 87% screen, 11% idle, 3% drmserver. One strange thing I've noticed is that under Settings > About tablet > Status, I see this:
Network: Searching for service
Signal strength: -120dBm 16 asu
Mobile network type: Unknown:0
Service state: Radio off
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile network state: Disconnected
Why would it be searching for service in airplane mode? Did something break in 3.2.2?
So my questions are:
1. Is anyone else experiencing the same symptoms as above (reduced battery life after upgrade, screen showing most usage)?
2. Is there any way for me to downgrade to 3.2 in order to see if that helps? I don't care if that disables 4G, since I'm not in a 4G coverage region.
I just got my Xoom WiFi back from Motorola repair - it somehow had a latin american ROM on it and wasn't receiving the ICS upgrade. Well now it has ICS and, for the most part, everything is fine. I am having problems with the SD card though. This is an SD card I used when I had Honeycomb on the unit. I was able to write to it just fine back then.
I took it out before sending the unit in for repair, and I put if back after receiving the unit back. After reinsertion, I can see/read all of the files that I had on there from before, but I cannot write/edit/delete anything on it, and when I look at it in a file manager, it shows up as read only. I removed the card, put in in my PC (with an adaptor) and reformatted it, still read-only.
While it was still in the Xoom, I connected to my PC and was able to access and even write to the card from my PC. But I still cannot do anything that attempts to write to the device from Android. I think the ability to write to the card from the PC indicates that there is not an issue with the card. I think the issue is how it's mounted. But I cannot find a way to mount it as writable unless I root my Xoom (which I'd rather not do).
Printershare did not reinstall after a factory reset, but the premium key did. Went to the new market to download, but market force closes when download begins.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got the 3.2 upgrade for my 3G Xoom a week or so ago; I understood that when the upgrade came, it would work with SD cards just like the WiFI-only Xoom upgrade. Today I stuck a SanDisk micro SD into the slot, and I got an option in "Settings" to mount the SD, but it won't mount. Neither will computer (Vista OS) recognize an SD, nor will it create a Xoom Media section in computer file explorer when Xoom is connected by USB as the Motorola help site describes; all I get is the original Xoom folder that I had pre-3.2.

If you are a 3G Xoom owner, whether you use it in WiFi mode only or have a data plan with Verizon for it, I would like to know if the 3.2 update has been pushed to your Xoom.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
When trying to copy the Kindle folder from the Xoom to Windows 7 Xoom backup folder, the transfer stops and I get a Windows message that says "device stopped responding." Everything goes well until about 3/4 way into the file transfer. At this point it stops (blue bar stops moving) and Windows Explorer says Not Responding. If I wait long enough, then I get the device stopped responding message. how to get this file backed up so I can ship my Xoom for upgrade.
