Motorola Xoom :: Unacceptable Power Port?
Mar 1, 2012
I find it unacceptable of the undersized 2 mm power port Moto engineered into to Xoom. According to Wikipedia, 2 mm x 0.5 mm size is to be used up to 3.15 v only, pretty sad the Moto refused to comply with EIAJ or DIN standards.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?itle=Coaxial_power_connector&mobileaction=view_normal_site The only reason they did what they did is for selfish reasons, so they are the only ones to sell the overpriced non-standard accessories. According to Wiki, we should be using OD 5.5 mm and ID 3.3 mm plug. Moto should be required to fix any broken port any time. I will not buy their chargers, because of $ and no 90° plugs. It's only 12 v for god sakes, straight from the car port. By the way the nearest standard size plug is 2.35 mm x 0.7 mm, not Moto made plug!

Does the HDMI port go in both directions? Example, if I connect my Flip Cam to the xoom, via the HDMI cable, can I show my video on the xoom? Also, will I need any software to do this?

Came across this article today which states, in summary, that Android tablets (including the Xoom) and Apple Notebook which a mini HDMI port are facing trouble after a HDMI Organization source states that the mini connection does not fulfill HDMI specification.Further, HDMI Org also claims that these brands have not received a proper license from them nor have they requested any authorization for the use of the ports. An official from the HDMI Org said that they have asked several tablet producers to replace the Mini DP plug that is currently fitted into tablets with a socket for it to conform to their standards and regulations.URL]Unfortunately, this article is not independently sourced. If true, this is a bombshell.

on mine XOOM /WI-FI tab, it seems that i need to first push the on button then let go an push an hold again for a sec then it will power on? Is this the normal way to turn on from a total power off state? As in sleep mode only need to be pushed 1x and screen comes awake. There actualy is nothing of any extent on the power button in the emanual that I could see for normal power up.Also as iv seen some comments elsewhere on the Sound Output quality, well on a set of earbuds its good quality sound, on the built in speakers ..well for a device of this small size one should expect decent sound but cant expect very much as to high end sound really it is only tiny sound. But ..the HDMI out sound is very poor quality , on a TV in or AVAmp in the same..very flat, dulll, boxee sound-tested using same music vidaudio file as from laptop, or other small device. and resulting sound is ..well crap... just only real neg comment otherwise.

My iPhone 4s is my first iPhone, and I really enjoy using it, but I was severely dissapointed when I discovered this major battery-usage flaw. Using wifi drains the battery incredibly fast. If wifi is left on, it will drain the battery (just on standby) within a day. Once I switched off wifi, it lasted over 5 days on standby. Do they know why wifi drains the battery like this, even when just on standby? Can this be corrected? I figured they would have fixed something like this by now if they could; I'm concerned it is a hardware problem that can't be addressed.

finally, with USB-2Go, I can find valid reason to upgrade from N70. good pixel camera, ability to browse files from external drive, and HDMI out. Well my question is, is the USB2Go port seperate from the HDMI out port ? If yes, does it mean I can use the N8 to browse my external drive and play video thru my HDTV ? So Nokia N8 can be my full fledged media center, radio player, camera, phone

According to my IT guy I need to get my phone to pull emails out either on port 995 for SSL POP3 or on port 993 for SSL IMAP. My phone errors out when I setup the account through the phone. Koodo does not allow setting it up through a browser. They say the server I have used my 8830 on for years is not compatible with my new 9360 and that it is a Blackberry problem!

After reading about this, I was redirected to down-load a driver so that my PC could charge the EM 330 battery though a USB port. However! There are TWO drivers and the instructions say, choose the one for your phone! There is no indication which driver would be associated or appropriate for my phone! Since I was directed there beginning with questions about the EM330, can I ASSUME that BOTH will work or then which one do I choose to install on my PC ?

Has anyone had trouble inserting the USB lead? I.e. when it catches the socket housing. Was concerned I forced the female socket a little too hard. Then noticed later that the USB socket edge is deeper than the HDMI socket. No longer flush with the edge. Just concerned about internal damage.

My Motorola V188 will not charge via USB port. It works fine with AC adapter, but I'm going overseas, and my AC adapter is 110v only. The logical way to charge is through the mini-USB port, but the manual says it needs drivers for that. They have two download options for drivers to allow charging. Neither one of those will install -- they do not match the device. Why did they make this so difficult? Does anybody have ideas how to get this phone to charge via USB port?

My battery port in my Droid4 has gone out and my phone will no longer charge. The guy at Verizon said that it was my fault and that Motorola would charge me full price to replace the phone. I don't see how that is possible. I am still under my warranty, so would something like this be covered under warranty or no?

The thing that drives me nuts about this phone is that you can not see the usb charging port in a dark room. On many ocassion i have had to plug in my charger in the dark and i find myself always fumbling around for minutes to find the port. The thing that makes it even more frustrating is that there is already a LED there! It just doesn't turn on unless the battery is dead and the phone is plugged in. Motorla calls it a "sign-of-life" LED. What a waste of resources because most people who keep their phones charged will never see this LED light-up. Why didn't you guys make it toggle on with a long push on the lock button? Then you could easily see the ports? This seems like the most usefull and obvious thing to do with this LED.
Also what happened to the camera application? My wifes X2 takes amazing pictures wheras the Droid 3s turn out afwul. Can I use the droid X2 app on my D3? Besides these two gripes this is an amazing phone and I am very happy with it.

I have a 2007 Chrysler 300C and I've never used the aux port in my car. How to listen to my music through the radio what do I need to do besides hooking the cable and selecting the aux function? Just select my music through the play music headphone icon? Will it eat up my data plan? I don't think I have the bluetooth through the radio.

I am unable to charge my E815 (supposedly charge port bad). They say if I get a new battery, it has to be charged first, so that's no good. How about using a usb cable or is that thru the same port and wouldn't work either?
