Motorola Defy :: How To Put Proxy Address And Port While Connecting To Wifi
Jul 5, 2011
Im trying to connect my defy to a wifi network and since im behind a firewall so ive to enter port address and ip.But there is no provision to do so in defy whereas in other android phones like samsung this provision is there..
I was in a client site and neither my Droid4 nor Xoom would connect out to the Internet. It showed network connected (IP address given). My Lenovo laptop did not connect either until another techy said look at LAN settings. I checked automatically detect settings on the laptop and was connected through to the Internet.I do not see a similar function on the phone and droid. Since I was in Europe at the time, WiFi was better than network data usage ($$$).Is there a setting in the Droid & Xoom?
Anyone know when Gingerbread is released for the Droid X if it will support configuring a Proxy Server for WiFi? I noticed Motorola just recently provided an update for the Droid Pro to allow proxy settings. This sure would be helpful for those of us using the DX for business.
When I start or reply to a thread on my fantasy football league's message board using my Blackberry Bold 9650, I get a kinds of proxy setting and IP Addresses in the message part of the email. The sender of the message is mail, not even my name or email address. I contacted Verizon, they said it was a CBS website problem. I contacted CBS, they said it was BB problem.

Is it possible -via an adequate wire- to connect an external drive to the Xperia Ray through the micro-USB port, and manage its content through a regular 'file manager' Android app?
It would be useful, for instance, for unloading your reflex camera memory while you're travelling!
I am unable to set proxy for Wi-Fi. I donno why SE doesn't included this option for Neo. Where as in Samsung, this option is available for very basic model of Galaxy.
My WiFi connection keeps re-asking for my password even though what I have entered is 100% correct. It keeps coming back and saying its not correct.I have a WPA 63 character key that I enter and do it 4 digits at a time except the last which is 3 digits, all entered 100% correctly and in the right case, yet my Defy keeps saying incorrect. Do you know what is up with that? It works fine on my laptop with the exact same WPA key entered.
how to successfully browse the internet, use Market app, etc, with my X8 when connected to a Wi-Fi WITH PROXY AUTHENTICATION.So far, no go!Is Sony Ericsson planning to release a fix for that? Or is SE just going to leave it as is?This is my first SE phone and because of this limitation, it is going to be the last! Moreover, I was planning to give a SE phone to my mom at Mother's day and, guess what, I bought her another brand!
I have connected the phone with Wifi, the system shows it is connected, the wifi bars show strength as very high. Yet unable to connect tointernet/email/facebook/apps shops etc through the wifi.I have checke dthe mac addresses - they are the same. no restictions from the router side. I am at a loss.

In my village there is a wifi installed that runs under a proxy with autentication: every user has his router at home and connects to the "general" wifi through a proxy with an username and password. I configure the wifi as follows: Wi-Fi --> Select the wifi --> I select Manual Proxy HTTP --> I type the server and port, enable authentication and type the username and password. Now, when I open Safari, I can navigate without problem. However, Safari is the only application that works: I cannot read my mail through the generic Mail application, nor enter in Facebook application, Twitter, Skype and so on. However, I can enter, for example, into Facebook through Safari.
I guess that not all the applications of the device run using the proxy enabled in the Wi-Fi options but the should, shouldn't them?
I never have found a clear indication of the safety of using MotoBlur from a open public Wifi Hotspot.
That's an issue I stumble upon everytime I want to use a standalone application like Hotmail on my handset. I presume that the communication from my handset to Motorola servers are encrypted, but I have no documentation about it.
I wonder if my mail account is directed in a similar manner, from my handset to Motorola server when I send a SMTP message from an account registered within Blur.
How does it work. I would like to know. Is there any white paper from Motorola somewhere available to the consumer.
Ok so after having to replace the earpiece under warranty I thought would risk another outage to my Defy. It was bought sim-free and I use my work SIM in it from Vodafone. So ran through the upgrade, and it worked first time ... until wifi. Wifi does not connect or rather from what I can determine I cannot actually obtain an IP address. For it to actually connect to the hub I have to force the settings to toggle the "Enable Auto IP" setting and manually set the channel to the same as my hub. (not had to do that with any other phone ... ) by the way, this still does not give me a data connectionAlso tried setting a static IP address and related settings and that does not work either Did a factory reset as recommended on the other pages - no avail. My hub runs WPA/WPA2 and I have a variety of devices connecting to it, trouble free, including 2 other Android 2.2 phones (HTC Desire Z and LG Optimus One), Windows XP, Windows 7, PS3 etc etc ... oh and once I had a Defy running 2.1 Eclair connecting trouble free?
So when connecting to my office Wifi, I have to insert proxy server and Port. But it is a restricted internet access. So naturally it must be given username, password. But i can't seem to find the place where to put it. In the wifi setting I can only put proxy server and port number but no Username and password.
i am currently on at&t and having send recieve problems on my defy xt 535 iv taken it to my local at&t store had myAPN data added still am unable to send or recieve pictures even on wifi
How can I surf the internet through a wifi network which is proxy enabled. There is an option to enter SSID and password, but the option to provide a proxy IP and port for wi-fi network is not available.
At home I am pretty sure it does the same thing. This morning when I got to the office, I noticed it was telling me that I have a wifi available. Open it up and there was the known wifi I have been connected to before, all week. Odd though, it says disabled but when i click it to connect, it says obtaining ip but then does back to not connected and says disabled. So basically I cannot connect to the wifi and I am 110% positive I have the correct password since I have connected to it just yesterday. Also curious why it isn't just connecting automatically to a known wifi. I have checked and others are on it right now.
So about half an hr ago i got a prompt to update my phone to (45.2.5.en.US) and it installed successfully, then I had problems with WiFi and so restarted my phone, now when I try to access any app that requires WiFi it seems as though it doesn't read it. The browser works fine, but any other app doesn't.
My Photon sees the network and allows me to enter a password, but then attempts to connect, scans again and boots me out. The message it says that the network is disabled.
To turn my wifi on i use widgets, it gets stuck mainly on obtaining ip address. For it to connect quick I must go into settings to wifi for it to work. Why is this happining? I have a solid wifi connection. Is anyone else having this problem. Just to refer my knowledge to others classify me as a hacker.
I have my Droid Xyboard set so that the if the screen turns off and its not plugged into the power adapter, the wifi will disconnect. (Under Wifi Settings > Wi-Fi disconnect Policy > select "Never when plugged in"). The wifi is supposed to connect automatically when I turn the screen on (I assume), but that doesn't always happen, many times it just sits there searching for a connection, and I have to manually turn off the wifi radio, then turn it on again, and then it connects automatically.
I have my IP settings set to "static" - which has improved the problem I think, but has not completely solved it. My security setting on my router is (WPA/WPA2 PSK) - but this happens with other wifi networks as well. My Mobile network connection is always turned off, unless I come to use it, I manually turn on the 3G/4G LTE radio.
My Xoom post upgrade to 4G is now assigning the IP address of 192.168.20.1 to the device usb1 everytime it is rebooted. This apparently hardwired configuration conflicts with my homenetwork's default gateway. Is there anyway to change this with out rooting the device? I would rather not have to re-IP my home network or not be able to connect to any network via Wifi who uses that IP address as a default gateway.
