I was wondering if there is something I have to turn on to get the Xoom to recognize USB devices? When I plug in any USB device it doesn't even power up much less get recognized.

It gives me an error message that says that the program has stopped working and shuts down the Motorola Media Link from syncing. Any word on what the problem could be? I have ripped and re-installed the program several times only to see Motorola Media Link work once.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis going to have a new function where the screen doesn't react when you hold the device in one hand with a thumb resting on the screen yet allows you to continue to control screen normally with other fingers.I have 57 year old hands that get numb from holding items and this would be wonderful for us semi handicapped folks to see this comes out with all ICS releases, even the original Xoom.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can plug it in but it doesn't seem to recognize the plug...I've tried a couple of them now...no charging, no data transfer. I think the receptacle must be broken in the iPhone itself. It worked a couple of times after I started having the problem but doesn't seem to work at all now...my phone is slowly losing its charge so I need to do something today - because I can't be without a working phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe plug part of my Motorola Defy stopped working so my only option at the moment is to charge via USB which isn't too great when I don't have my own computer at home at the moment so charging options are very limited.I contacted Amazon where I purchased the phone and they want me to send the whole lot back for replacement when it is just the plug part that doesn't work!i then contacted Motorola via their Chat and they were not much help either. It took them ages to respond to my query as they were busy chatting to someone else on the phone. When I eventually got a reply they said to contact CPW Accessory Repairs on 0870 087 0168. Contacted them and I was speaking to a robot and punching in different buttons on the keypad. Eventually it said to bring it in to one of the CPW stores and they may be able to help repair or replace it.What an absolute farce. It's absurd and impractical that Amazon have to replace the whole thing instead of just the small part that is faulty. It is just the plug part that doesn't work and I can't be sending the whole thing back with all my applications and viewranger maps to have to reinstall it all over again.

View 12 Replies View Relatedon mine XOOM /WI-FI tab, it seems that i need to first push the on button then let go an push an hold again for a sec then it will power on? Is this the normal way to turn on from a total power off state? As in sleep mode only need to be pushed 1x and screen comes awake. There actualy is nothing of any extent on the power button in the emanual that I could see for normal power up.Also as iv seen some comments elsewhere on the Sound Output quality, well on a set of earbuds its good quality sound, on the built in speakers ..well for a device of this small size one should expect decent sound but cant expect very much as to high end sound really it is only tiny sound. But ..the HDMI out sound is very poor quality , on a TV in or AVAmp in the same..very flat, dulll, boxee sound-tested using same music vidaudio file as from laptop, or other small device. and resulting sound is ..well crap... just only real neg comment otherwise.

According to Wikipedia, 2 mm x 0.5 mm size is to be used up to 3.15 v only, pretty sad the Moto refused to comply with EIAJ or DIN standards.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?itle=Coaxial_power_connector&mobileaction=view_normal_site The only reason they did what they did is for selfish reasons, so they are the only ones to sell the overpriced non-standard accessories. According to Wiki, we should be using OD 5.5 mm and ID 3.3 mm plug. Moto should be required to fix any broken port any time. I will not buy their chargers, because of $ and no 90° plugs. It's only 12 v for god sakes, straight from the car port. By the way the nearest standard size plug is 2.35 mm x 0.7 mm, not Moto made plug!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found the System Settings > Display > Brightness > Display Power Saver checkbox, but turning it off or on doesn't seem to do anything. In fact, I noticed my Maxx's screen was darker than the Droid 4's in the store the other day, and I went into the Brightness settings and found Display Power Saver unchecked, so I checked it just to see what happened, and the screen got brighter. My brightness is always on Auto. Unchecking it had no effect. Since then I've been able to detect no difference with it checked or unchecked.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm not sure if this a black and white yes/no question, but i'm trying to understand how the xoom handles switching between programs. for example, if i'm buffering a video clip on Internet, it appears that i cannot switch to any other program without interrupting the buffering. however, with certain games, i can switch to another program (email for example) and back to the game without loosing my place. are there certain rules that the xoom uses for switching between programs? does it perform differently between using the home icon versus the quick launch icons on the task bar? is multitasking function specific - meaning wifi or 3g/4g is always interrupted? is it program specific?

If I connect my Xoom to my PC and transfer files, as soon as I reach 4GB utilized storage on the SD card, all files gets disappeared, and moved into the LOST.DIR (renamed).If I unmount the card, put it into my PC, and copy files to it, as soon as I mount this SD in my Xoom all files that were copied to the SD after it reached 4GB in utilized storage, they just get deleted (nothing in the LOST.DIR). Even if I will mark these files as Read-Only they still get deleted.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy new Xoom doesn't find any WiFi network. Where I am currently, there are at least three networks in reach, one of them is completely open. Neither of them shows up on the list of available networks.
If I set up mobile hotspot on Xoom, I can connect other devices via WiFi to Xoom, which leads me to believe hardware is ok.

i tryed playin a video i filmed before 3.1 update and now it wont play....i also tryed taking a picture and i cant see the preview on the screen....but when i press the shooter it takes the picture...but the screen is black completly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have tried to install newly updated/created apps on my ICS XOOM WiFi from Tivo and from AMC Theaters. Both apps tell me the same thing when I go into google play, and also when I use a direct download QR Barcode. I get a message saying that my device isn't compatible with this version of the software. Could this possibly be becuase the apps are not tolerant of ICS yet? I figured that since the apps were newly released/updated, that they would be compatible with the latest.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the 3.2 upgrade for my 3G Xoom a week or so ago; I understood that when the upgrade came, it would work with SD cards just like the WiFI-only Xoom upgrade. Today I stuck a SanDisk micro SD into the slot, and I got an option in "Settings" to mount the SD, but it won't mount. Neither will computer (Vista OS) recognize an SD, nor will it create a Xoom Media section in computer file explorer when Xoom is connected by USB as the Motorola help site describes; all I get is the original Xoom folder that I had pre-3.2.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUp till now I had been playing with a non US 3.1 Xoom. I would stick video content (mainly avi files encoded as divx) in the Movies folder. Selecting the Movie folder from Gallery would show all the content but the only program that would play them was Rockplayer which I had installed.
I know have a US Xoom with 3.2 firmware. With the same type of content in the Movies folder together with a MP4 file encoded with Handbrake to specs that the Xoom can play, Gallery only shows me that MP4 file. The other files just don't show up at all. The only way I can play them is to use ES Filemanager to browse that folder and click the filename to play it or use Rockplayer's explorer interface.
Sometimes when scrolling Pulse News Reader, things like emails, etc. the screen seems to freeze. I have to use multiple fingers or put device to sleep and awaken to continue scrolling with a single finger.
