Does the HDMI port go in both directions? Example, if I connect my Flip Cam to the xoom, via the HDMI cable, can I show my video on the xoom? Also, will I need any software to do this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my Xoom to any port on my Samsung LCD, it syncs at 1280 x 720 only. There are no settings for the HDMI ports on the TV, they are all auto sensing. I am using a 9` HDMI cable. The picture looks fine, although I'm sure it could look better.

I have the pieces, and have verified I can do straight HDMI to a monitor that supports it. When I try to run the signal to DVI on a different monitor, I get nothing.
I'm having problems playing my .mp4 files on my TV using the HDMI output option. The mirroring keeps blacking out and coming back in. It's almost not woth watching a movie because of it. Before 4.0.3 I was able to playback flash video in the browser on my TV through the HDMI cable, now with 4.0.3 I have lost that ability. According to Wikipedia, 2 mm x 0.5 mm size is to be used up to 3.15 v only, pretty sad the Moto refused to comply with EIAJ or DIN standards.http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?itle=Coaxial_power_connector&mobileaction=view_normal_site The only reason they did what they did is for selfish reasons, so they are the only ones to sell the overpriced non-standard accessories. According to Wiki, we should be using OD 5.5 mm and ID 3.3 mm plug. Moto should be required to fix any broken port any time. I will not buy their chargers, because of $ and no 90° plugs. It's only 12 v for god sakes, straight from the car port. By the way the nearest standard size plug is 2.35 mm x 0.7 mm, not Moto made plug!

Currently when i use the HDMI cable the screen turns such that the cable goes in from the bottom which if the XOOM is on my lap is awkward. It would bebetter if the HDMI port was at the top.
I fitted my Atrix on the multimedia dock, power connected then connected HDMI cable from the mm dock to my Vaio laptop HDMI, as I read and understood the firefox browser should be launched directly but did not happen
By the way I have the whole motorola multimedia kit.
My HDMI icon stays in my status bar after I use HDMI to my TV. It won't go away until a reboot. Does anyone know why? Is there a procedure I'm not following to disconnect cable?

However the "navigation bar" at the bottom of the Xoom screen is not displayed on the tv. It would be handy to have this as part of the hdmi output so that I could navigate from across the room with my bluetooth mouse.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that the compass on google map (blue little arrow) is a bit crazy. it will not point north. It may point west but when I tilt the phone up or down even just a bit (still pointing north), it will flip to pointing east. If I drive with the Map app open, the arrow (using GPS I guess) point to the direction of driving. but a few seconds after stopping the around will flip between 90 and 100 degrees, until I start moving again. I found that google sky also goes totally crazy and jumps all around when I use it. I downloaded a compass app and it also shows the compass moving erratically when I move the phone even a few degrees. Although this phone is brand new (4 days) it is not my first Android nor my first Moto. I remember that my other phone had a compass calibration utility and I can't seem to find it on the Razr..

My phone errors out when I setup the account through the phone. Koodo does not allow setting it up through a browser. If I turn the phone off, the notification goes away for a bit, but still comes back after about an hour. I did try "Factory Data reset" under the privacy settings, but that did not make a difference.
Is there a certain sequence to disconnecting HDMI from streaming video over the internet?I used it this weekend to stream a show from the internet and when I disconnect (pulled the HDMI cable out) it still says HDMI connection detected. The icon up in the notification bar doesn't go away unless I reboot the phone.

When I hook the hdmi cable to the phone, something happens because the Motorola logo shows up on the TV, but I don't get a prompt to select mirroring or video out. From what I've read, that's what I expected would happen.Any ideas what could be happening? Could this possibly be a defect in the phone? Some software setup issue? The only HDMI setting I can find is hte display area, and changing that doesn't affect this.
