how to turn off the CNN "Breaking News" feed? My Xoom chirps at me all day long; not with calendar appointments (which I like) but with stupid newsbites (which I don't). If I can't turn it off, I would at least like to know if I can disable the notification audio for just that program!

Woke up this morning and hit the power button the xoom to wake it up and got nothing, just a black screen. Have tried the power button with volume up several times (and for way longer than 3 seconds) and am still not getting any sign of life.Last night before I put it into standby I was browsing the net over wifi. GPS was also turned on, battery left was good (around 90%) I plugged the charger in this morning thinking maybe battery had gone flat, charge indicator came on white, it is now green but still no sign of life.3g xoom, not rooted, stock firmware.

I have tried holding the power button, holding the power button and volumn up at the same time, holding the power button and volumn down at the same time, taking out the sd card and trying all of the above again, and nothing!
It is plugged into the charger, has been all morning, and the indicator light is green. It stays green while I try to turn it on and...nothing.
I can't get my Xoom to turn on the backlight. I can see that everything else works, by using reflective light I can see enough to do some simple actions, like changing brightness settings, and accept the shutdown dialog.I have tried anything that I can think off; turning on and off automatic brightness, cold reset, and shutting down and restart.
There doesn't seem to be a hardware error. I managed to get it to work again for a while yesterday, but I haven't been able to repeat that today.
Does anyone have any idea on how to turn the backlight on?

They turn the pages by themselves sometimes. Sometimes only a page or two sometimes 30 pages.
I've decided this isn't likely a problem with the book apps but with the Xoom itself more than likely. with books turning pages by themselves?
I've had my xoom for quite some time now and this has bothered me from day one and I can't figure out how to make it stop. On the keyboard, if you hover ever so slightly too long over the "s" or the "e" or any number of letters on the keyboard the xoom changes that to a special character. How do you turn this blasted thing off. I NEVER use those, will NEVER need them and don't want the keyboard to do it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a shortcut on one of my homescreens to the News & Weather App (version 1.3.04) which was supplied with my ATRIX 4G. When I open the app, it used to come up with the weather for my location (which I have manually set with a zipcode), but lately it just says "Sorry, weather currently unavailable". If I scroll the screen to the left the other "News" tabs do display current content like they always have. Only the "Weather" tab seems not to be working. I've tried messing with the app's weather settings, but it doesn't seem to be able to find a location from a zipcode any longer. Again, this was not an app that I downloaded, so I can't uninstall and reinstall it. Force stopping and clearing data doesn't fix it either.

Currently when i use the HDMI cable the screen turns such that the cable goes in from the bottom which if the XOOM is on my lap is awkward. It would bebetter if the HDMI port was at the top.

But for some reason, i've removed the news widget, and now, when i create the news widget again, i can't subscipt to the RSS feed. i've tried inputing the website to custom feed, and also from the browser, click on the RSS icon and add to news widget.i just have the loading wheel spinning for a long time. I can tap the back button and it will shows up, but no news feed.And i was trying to add some RSS feed from kotaku.com, and i received an error message. Now i've lost the tip and tricks subscription and digg feed. And i can't add any feed at the moment.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to restore my factory settings to change my default google account on my moto xprt, but after that I couldn't get updates from news (rss feed) and social networking, as well as facebook mails (in universal inbox) and fb contacts. no news, no mail, no contacts! I have tried the following:
- Turn device on/off, remove the battery
- Erase facebook account and reenter it
- Remove motoblur app from my fb account, then reenter the fb account
- Turn sync social networking via WiFi only on/off
- Leave the phone on battery maximum performance to sync through the night
- Clear data from social networking and news app (in app manager)
- Restore factory settings again
- Tried updating it via gsm data only
Nothing seems to work, but it worked fine before the factory reset. I couldn't find motoblur registration option. is that common for android phones? When I factory reset I don't get that motoblur registration window!
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.

The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open.The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? View 24 Replies View RelatedFor at least the last 6 months I've been having a constant problem with making phone calls from my blackberry. Whenever I make a call more 99% of the time I have problems where the person's voice on the other end of the phone is constantly breaking up.or the voice sounds distorted (the only way I can really describe this is that it sounds almost like someone's playing the sound back in slow motion with a lot of inteference noise mixed in). Other times I have attempted to make a phone call and after waiting to hear a ringtone while the screen reads "connecting" for a while, I get the "call failed" message. I would put these problems down to bad signal but when I make the calls my phone always has at least 3 bars of signal. At first I wasn't sure if the problems were from my phone or whether it was from the phones I've been calling, but today I've called 3 different numbers and had exactly thesame problem with it.

I tested it many times now it's very frustrating, everything is fine during usage of headphone but again same problem when I am taking calls directly from my cell.
I just got a Lumia 950, set up all my accounts, added Skype, and now my Skype messages show up in the app AND in my Messaging hub. I wouldn't mind, but now I'm getting Messaging alerts AND Skype alerts that I have new messages when I receive a Skype message. I did find a setting in Skype that turns off the messaging alerts for Skype messages, but they're still showing up, even when I'm using Skype on my PC. In two hours of work this morning this has gone past confusing to the point of being annoying.

When playing my music, it seems to break up, just like a bad connection to a radio station.
This happens with any kind of music on my phone, regardless if its a album on my phone on streaming a live radio station.
Every other related function seams to be ok.
when i make or receive a call, the person on the other end says my voice is breaking up.I went to Apple and received a new phone 4 days ago and it starting happening again today.
