Woke up this morning and hit the power button the xoom to wake it up and got nothing, just a black screen. Have tried the power button with volume up several times (and for way longer than 3 seconds) and am still not getting any sign of life.Last night before I put it into standby I was browsing the net over wifi. GPS was also turned on, battery left was good (around 90%) I plugged the charger in this morning thinking maybe battery had gone flat, charge indicator came on white, it is now green but still no sign of life.3g xoom, not rooted, stock firmware.
I powered down this morning (battery was still at about 30%) and plugged in the charger at work. After charging all morning, the indicator light is green. Tried to turn it on and...nothing.
I have tried holding the power button, holding the power button and volumn up at the same time, holding the power button and volumn down at the same time, taking out the sd card and trying all of the above again, and nothing!
It is plugged into the charger, has been all morning, and the indicator light is green. It stays green while I try to turn it on and...nothing.
I can't get my Xoom to turn on the backlight. I can see that everything else works, by using reflective light I can see enough to do some simple actions, like changing brightness settings, and accept the shutdown dialog.I have tried anything that I can think off; turning on and off automatic brightness, cold reset, and shutting down and restart.
There doesn't seem to be a hardware error. I managed to get it to work again for a while yesterday, but I haven't been able to repeat that today.
Does anyone have any idea on how to turn the backlight on?
tired to hear my xoom telling me what i'm typing to the keyboard or the name of the web page that i visit.is there a way to turn off the voice, if not, will it be possible to do it in 3.1 or future 3.2
So to make long story short woke up this morning after update yesterday and for my luck i find out that my screen dont turn on. Already called moto and they told me to send it in.
how to turn off the CNN "Breaking News" feed? My Xoom chirps at me all day long; not with calendar appointments (which I like) but with stupid newsbites (which I don't). If I can't turn it off, I would at least like to know if I can disable the notification audio for just that program!
I've had my xoom for quite some time now and this has bothered me from day one and I can't figure out how to make it stop. On the keyboard, if you hover ever so slightly too long over the "s" or the "e" or any number of letters on the keyboard the xoom changes that to a special character. How do you turn this blasted thing off. I NEVER use those, will NEVER need them and don't want the keyboard to do it.
Is there any way to turn the orientation of the screen when the HDMI cable is plugged in.
Currently when i use the HDMI cable the screen turns such that the cable goes in from the bottom which if the XOOM is on my lap is awkward. It would bebetter if the HDMI port was at the top.
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
I would like to buy the XOOM speaker dock and play music from my XOOM on a daily basis.... I'm worried about having it plugged (and charging) in too much and that I might GREATLY reduce the battery life by charging my XOOM too much.
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me to show .ppt files diretly on the Xoom non-US model? I had an idea it was possible with an app included in US Xooms but not to us outside the USA.
This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
There is a lot to like about the tablet, but some features I'm disappointed in. I was looking at the "supported devices" page for the Motocast USB software and it does not include this tablet. At the bottom of the page, it also says "MotoCast USB software works with most but not all of Motorola's Android devices." Is it possible to use it on the FE?
Along with many other reasons I want to root my verizon 3G xoom to remove inwanted apps and use it for development of native code applications (run-as will not kill unless the app is debuggable or the device is rooted and I occasionally need to restart services to test the handling of these services shutting down and restarting).
This morning there was a system update. I do not know what was updated. I did not record any information about the system, so I can not tell if anything has changed. what the update did or how do I lookup update information?
A May 7th answer implied there was not a Boingo app for Honeycomb. I need something that will give me acess in airports without free wifi ... such as Atlanta, of all places.
My Xoom wifi only US will receive officially the JB? If it don't, will u lock his bootloader too just like u did to my photon? coz i'm already done with motorola in cellphones, i wish it wouldn't happen with tablets as well. But honestly motorola seems not to care much about them, only with a new phone every month, and kickng the back of old phone owners. That's why i'm selling my photon and i got me an unlocked bootloader Galaxy Nexus?
I purchased my Xoom in March 2012 and have been unable to upgrade to ICS 4.0.4. The issue has been posted in the forum, and the only answer I've gotten is that I have to send it in to get the update. Does that mean I will have to send it in every time and update is available? I find this unacceptable since it was delivered new with this issue. So with the announcement of JB coming to Xoom soon, can I skip 4.0.4 and upgrade directly to JB?
I've had my Xoom for two weeks and have been downloading apps from the market until today. No matter which app I try to install it says, "This item cannot be installed in your country." This is funny because I live in Missouri.Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this? I've checked the location and time zone in settings and it is set to central tim
Xoom has an address on my LAN. From Xoom can connect to any of my LAN computers. I cannot connect to Xoom from any of my PCs, it does not show on the PCs LAN devices. How do I share the Xoom over my LAN?
