Dec 13, 2011Skype has just released version 2.6.0.75 with some much needed improvements.
I haven't had a chance to fully test the new features as I wanted to let everyone know asap.....But one of the cool features is that it now supports file transfers!! Yaaay! Bout stinkin time! The UI is changed in look at bit and the video is supposed to be better optimized on Tegra 2 devices. I haven't tested the video out since the update but I will say that navigating the new Skype was FAST!

Jan 12, 2012I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open.The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? May 18, 2011Running 4.1.83 update. Prior to this update, Skype didn't work at all. Just static for the folks I was trying to talk to. I just removed Skype. After the update I re-installed, Skype and great, it works. It's important as I talk to a friend in South Africa fairly frequently. Then I started noticing reboots / crashes. Phone just restarts, big old Red M logo advertises the fact the phone has just fell over and is restarting. I think I'm noticing a pattern. I've started leaving Skype running in background so I can get incoming calls from my South African friend. Every time that I've noticed a reboot, Skype was running. It could also be related to poor signal strength. By the way, I'm using Skype over my WAN data, not Wifi. Is there a way to get a crash log from the system.

Oct 24, 2011When I make a normal skype to skype call I can't hear the other persons voice. Yesterday, I could hear on switching on the speaker but after doing a factory reset I can't hear any sound. May 7, 2011I am trying to install Skype on my Atrix 4G without luck. I am US military stationed in the UAE, and the freedom police here have determined that people who live here should not be able to use Skype. We all get around this by using VPNs, but it doesn't seem to be working on my phone. Using the VPN on my router and the home wireless network, I got all the way to the download skype for Android button. When I tried to select my phone as the intended device, I got a message that said this country doesn't allow Skype, and it would not install. just push a button on the phone and do Skype to Skype, or even Skype to telephone with my family back in the US instead of firing up the computer. Can I perhaps download to my computer then use a cable to install on the phone?

Nov 26, 2012Today I discovered my speakerphone was not working. On phone calls, the speakerphone light comes on but the audio only comes from the earpiece. Every few calls, the speakerphone starts working midway through the call. On Skype video calls, the same thing. The audio comes only from the earpiece. I have removed and reinstalled Skype. No change. The ringer works as do all the notifications so the speaker is working. I have tried disabling bluethooth to make sure it was not interfering. No change.

Aug 2, 2011This post is for all of us who bought the Xoom because 4g speed was an important factor to us. We've been informed by email that our Xoom 4G upgrade will be available in September (2011), early Sept or late Sept who knows. We'll also have to send the Xoom back for the upgrade so the inconvenience factor to get our 4g is high.
Well for those of us [i.e. myself] who bought early in the hopes that Motorola would exceed our personal expectations and put the upgrade in our Xooms quickly after the initial Xoom release on Feb 24, 2011, we've been disappointed with this unreasonably long delay.
The bar of what we expect from Motorola is now set by the Galaxy tab 4G and the tab speeds are, well, phenomenal.[URL].. So, a personal observation, the upgrade had better be stellar and fast now that the Xoom will [maybe?] be the No. 2 4g tablet on the Verizon network. You can't win the first to 4g tablet market race but you sure better not blow the performance side of 4g.
