No matter if I've just rebooted my xoom or if It's been on for a while, whenever I decide to suft the web using the stock browser I have the ability to for maybe 5-10 minutes and then it will just randomly crash and I have to open it again. I'm not doing anything that could be considered memory or processor intensive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUnable to open any web links from an app or gmail ....started to happen a few minutes ago..these links are embedded in a email or from an app like pulse etc. I have stock broswer and dolphin HD ...and I select which one to displayed when the browser selection pop up window comes up.
Now the selection popup window does not come at all...and the screen goes about 50% dark and when touched anywhere on the screen ...it comes to normal brightness...
I've been having issues since I did the Froyo update on my Blue Tick upgraded Telstra defy. Australian users will know what I mean by that. I did a hard reset soon after the froyo update because a few strange things were happenning. The hard reset seemed to resolve my issues.
But now I need to reboot my phone on average once per day. I get google system processes force closing randomly. It usually happens when I'm not even using the phone. I'll pick it up to use it and there'll be a force close message. Stuff like Swype will also randomly force close. When this stuff starts to happen, a heap of my apps won't open. They just force close straight away. When I reboot everything is fine for about another 24 hours, then another google system process will force close and it all starts to happen again.
Has anyone had anything similar happen? Is there any point in doing another hard reset? I can't really see why it would make any difference doing it again. I'm currently in the middle of reformatting my sd card to see if that makes any difference.
I'm used to a Windows based environment on my desktop and laptop so perhaps I'm not using the correct terminology here. What I'm finding is that when I'm using my XOOM, all the applications I've opened during the session are still open and are just minimized at the bottom of the screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received my Xoom wi-fi only and while setting it up I received the 3.1 update, which I installed. I had not added any files to my Xoom yet but while I started playing some of the music files that came with the Xoom, the player force closed while I was browsing the music files. It does not close while playing music but only while browsing the music that came with the Xoom. I then added music to the music folder from my PC and it still force closes while browsing my music files. This happends all the time after I play a few music files. I have the music player 3.0 version. A reboot does not help, it does it every time I use the player. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions are welcome. If I install another music player app. will it recognize my music already in my Xoom? And any recommendations on another player? I'm tired of the force closing of the Music player that came with the Xoom.

The stock browser User Agent is still accessible through about:debug but most sites are still redirected to a mobile version even when "Desktop" is selected. my favorite browser wont deliver a non-mobile view unless you select the UA as I-Pad. View 10 Replies View RelatedOne of the main reasons I like the physical keyboard is the use of keyboard shortcuts. I noticed that two shortcuts conflict with each other in the stock browser. In a form field of a website, when I press the menu + v combination to paste text, it activates the "save pages" command instead. If you press menu -> more, there is a "save pages" option. Below that text it says "menu + v" which is the same shortcut for paste. However, when in text fields that are part of the browser app (ie. location bar and adding a bookmark) the paste shortcut works. It would be great if the "save pages" shortcut was changed to something else so I could paste text using the keyboard command.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI received my shiny new 3G Xoom (MZ601) yesterday and decided to root it. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then flashed the rootboot.img file. Unfortunately on rebooting it hung at the Motorola logo. I tried a couple of other boot images, such as Tiamat 1.3.1 and ocboot but all with the same result. Obviously something is different about the European 3G Xoom which makes these US boot images fail.
I managed to "sort of" recover using one of the stock US boot images (can't remember which one!) but my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are no longer working. What I would really like to do is revert to a completely stock MZ601 image. I see that the Verizon stock images are available on motodev but no mention of MZ601.
1 Engineer put the stock image (it should be ready) onto ftp: at most 3 hours1 IT to put it on the motodev file server: at most 1 hours

I've recently noticed that my xoom is losing connection to the web. In the lower right it says that I have a 3g signal, but none of the apps or browser can connect.After a manual reboot it seems to work again. I never saw this before sending it in for the 4g upgrade. Also this seems to be happening a couple times a day
View 9 Replies View RelatedOkay, I really don't know how to fix the following things because I already did a soft reset, a hard reset and finally re-installed the software. Re-installing the software helped for a week or two, but now these things are coming back again:
- My 5530 always fails checking for updates (it keeps searching endless).
- Impossible to use Wi-Fi to check e-mail.
- Applications are closing randomly (most of the times Ovi Store, Internet and Settings).
And something else: when I woke up this morning, my phone didn't want to start up, I tried turning it on and off, without success, so I removed the memory card and then he suddenly started again. After that, I turned my phone off to put the memory card back in and he worked again with the memory card. I just wonder what could be the reason for this.
I've been noticing this happening for awhile now.. for some reason my app windows will close randomly- no warnings, no errors, i tap the Recents key and apps that i had open are now gone.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern or consistency to this, i'll just eventually notice after doing things in other apps, that when i tap the Recents key, one (or more) have closed- in some cases i've had multiple apps open and they've all closed- ie, tap the Recents key and it's blank.
For example, just recently i had the Facebook app open (along with a few others), and when i went back to open it from the Recents key, it was gone. i've also noticed the same thing happen with the Instagram app, but i believe there are others..
So I'm assuming this isn't supposed to happen? my only thought was maybe apps are crashing when too much stuff is open at once, thought it's a pretty high end phone, and i typically only have 3-4 apps open at the same time, at most.. or maybe apps are closed automatically if they're open for too long with no activity? i can say that in some of these cases the apps had been open for hours or in some cases days by the time i noticed they were closed..
