Motorola :: Q Dual USB Car Charger?
Feb 24, 2010
I am looking for a Dual USB car charger that will work with my motorola phones. I want a charger that will charger both of my parents phones (Moto Q and a Razr) so that they dont have to carry 2 chargers. All of our phones are usb B and I have lots of data cables but I cannot find a charger that will charge them. I have a Q9c and mine shows unaauthorized charger when plugged into a car driven usb port. In the PC they all charge just fine.Does anyone know of a good charger that will charge these phones?? I am assuming that it is the same problem that iPhone users have but I am not sure, and I am sick of buying USB chargers that dont work.

i have had my Xoom since it first came out and think that it is still one of the best tablets out there. Unfortunately lately I have been noticing that when I go to power it on that it will occassionally freeze on the "dual core" screen. It's not every time but more than I like.

I just picked up the iPhone 3gs on Monday and have two questions that. Forgot to find out before I got the phone. I bought a white iPhone 3gs and wanted to know is the phone still plagued with overheating and discoloration problems? Second question I am wondering if I buy a mophie juice pack air a coupple of months would that negatively affect my battery on the iPhone. What I mean by this is I heard that aged four hundred complete charges and draining of the iPhone battery the phones battery only holds 80% of the charge it use to. My question is does using a charger help increase time it takes the iphont to reach 400 chargeres quicker than it would if I did not use the charger?

Has anyone else noticed that their Moto OEM car charger doesn't push all the way into the xoom? Mine pushes in till the metal post stops but that leaves around 3/16th of an inch of the post exposed. This scares me that it will break off in the device. My wall charger pushes all the way in till the plastic base touches the xoom. Could I have a bad car one?

My MotoACTV came without a wall charger. I have two available at home, on generic, that states an output of 5.0V+/- 5% ans 300mA +/- 30mA. The other is the iPad one, wich states an output of 5.1V and 2.1mA. Can one of these be used safely? I can't find specs for input charge in the device manual...

When I'm using my charger to charge my phone (as opposed to plugging it in charged), the charger gets really hot (~160 degrees fahrenheit), it makes a quiet hissing noise, and if I smell the USB ports, I can smell "the short-circuit smell" faintly. I'm wondering if this is normal, as the charger has been doing this since I bought my phone. (It's the charger they provided to me with the phone).

my car has two slots for the car charger. One without a label and the other one labelled with 12V. When I plug it into the one without label my phone discharges even when plugged in, when I use music player and maps. Is that normal? I havn't dared to use the 12V one yet... can I do that or will it kill my phone? And if I can use it: Will it charge my phone even when I use it or will it be no help to switch the slot?

I have searched the forum and have checked the Internet looking for a portable charger that works with the Xoom. Just for clarification I am talking about an external battery for charging when a outlet is not available. Will be traveling and want to make sure that the Xoom will be powered up for duration of the flight. I have seen varying opinions but nothing solid.

I purchased my Photon used from a reliable source. I've had it less than a week and it was working fine previously, but last night it somehow died (even though the battery was almost completely charged that morning) and I've had problems charging it. I have it hooked up to my computer via the original USB charger but it won't charge. The charging/notification light turns white, then green, then it starts up. It takes me to the lock screen and says "Charging 5%", then it turns off and repeats this process. I have the correct drivers installed on my computer.I'm not a really big tech-geek

Has anyone noticed there phone turning itself on while on the AC charger? I power my phone off at night and then connect the AC charger. When I wake up in the morning the phone has already powered itself on. You would think it would remain off and charging until I press the power button to turn it on. Is there a setting or something that would trigger the phone to power on when it reaches full charge?

I'm thinking about getting the wireless charger with the D3 but customer service couldn't answer my questions.
Will it work with the extended battery? Does this have a cable on the door that uses the usb port for charging as I've seen some of the add-on solutions?

I have noticed on a number of occasions that I have plugged my Xoom into the charger, and come back to find that it was not being charged. Unplugging the Xoom from the end of the charger made no difference, but unplugging the charger from the mains supply and plugging it in again seems to work. This does NOT happen if you plug the Xoom charger into the mains supply, then attach the Xoom, but only if the Xoom charger has been left plugged into the mains for a while without the Xoom being attached.I think this behaviour is by DESIGN - it appears that the Xoom charger switches off internally if left connected to the mains (but NOT connected to the Xoom) for a while. Disconnecting it from, and reconnecting it to, the mains "reboots" the charger, and it works again. This is a good idea, as it decreases the power consumption of the unit (I'm afraid I have loads of non-connected power chargers left plugged into the mains).

I bought this phone about three weeks ago from the AT&T store and purchased the proscribed "AT&T Zero" spare micro-usb charger that even Motorola sells on this very website as an accessory for the Flipside. I plugged the phone into my spare charger at work and discovered that I couldn't answer calls, could not navigate the screens without either looping behavior or the wrong "buttons" being pushed as I tapped the screen. As soon as I took the phone off of the charger, the behavior settled down. I took the phone and charger back to the store and demonstrated the same behavior to the salesclerk. He offered to replace the cable and/or charger and I insisted that we try the equipment first. The same behavior was exhibited with the new charger and cable, but, when he put the phone on his own charger (a Motorola branded charger), the phone worked fine. At home, as an experiment, we put my phone on my husband's Motorola BlueTooth charger, and that seemed to work as well.
My problem is, I cannot find a spare charger that will work on this phone. I am told that Motorola does not sell the branded charger separately. While the Rocketfish charger claims to be compatible, when tried in the store, the phone would not recognize the charger at all, or only intermittently. (I did notice on this board a tip about the cable being wire-tied perhaps being the cause of someone's problem - something to consider) I am left with two options, either carrying the charger around with me and purchasing the Motorola car charger for car trips, or buying a Motorola BlueTooth that I don't need just for its micro-usb charger.

rapid recurrence of the "Disconnected Unplug your charger from the outlet to conserve energy" pop-up message on their Atrix homescreen? The last few days I've been getting this pop-up message quite often (every couple of seconds to sometimes a minute or so apart) while the phone is still plugged into the A/C wall charger. Occasionally it will remain on the screen for minutes at a time, and in fact one time I was able to catch a screenshot of it. The charge cycle is usually complete (90% to 100% indicated). Everything is stock - battery, wall charger, and non-rooted phone on 2.3.6. This is not a loose connection, as I've checked that. It seems to have started occurring around the time the Market was replaced with Google Play Store, and the subsequent update to 3.4.7 which fixed the App Drawer icon issue. Don't know why this would cause what I'm seeing, but just though I'd mention it.

So I was on a road trip today and when I plugged in the phone in the car dock I had full battery. Then I turned on navigation and slacker radio. About an hour travel the battery started to charge according to the battery icon. My question is, why did the battery discharge while on external power? Does the factory charger not have enough capacity to charge the phone while being used? If so something is wrong with the whole designe of the charging system.

The back replaces the (extended) battery cover and it a bit thicker and heavier but not bad at all. It fits well on the phone, no issues and the back of the phone remains flat (no uneven raised portions on the cover). The cover connects to the four charing pins on the back of the phone (under the cover) so you don't need any cables that use the usb port as on some of the third party wireless phone chargers.Setup was as simple as changing the back of the phone, powering the charging pad and laying the phone on the pad. I didn't time how long it too to charge but when my phone was down 50% it didn't seem longer than the usb charger. There is an indicator on the pad that lets you know when the phone is not charging (off or not properly placed on the pad), charging or fully charged and an audible that sounds when you place the phone correctly on the pad.
You can feel when the phone is correctly placed as if there's a magnet in the pad and phone back. The bottom of the phone overhands the pad by about 1/2 inch. I was planning to get a picture frame type holder to prop up the pad so the phone can be easily viewed on my desk. With the phone being longer than the pad, it might not work as well as I wanted but I can probably still do it in landscape mode.

I got this unit as gift little while ago and just opened it. plugged it in and was receiving traffic and charging. i plugged in couple days later and now not charging and no traffic. the little green light is on at the cig plug and there is power to the end of barrel plug via test light. I looked over the cradle and pins all looks fine. i cleaned them just in case. so it would seem to be a cradle/dock issue. I cant find any issues with the unit and it charges fine on usb. i dont have a spare cradel to test it.
