Motorola Photon Q 4G :: Cannot Set Ringtones For Incoming Text
Nov 12, 2012
I'm having trouble setting a default tone for incoming texts. I assumed this was done in Settings->Sound->Default notification, but texts still come in with the original factory default tone. This is not good since I have so much trouble hearing the tone and subsequently miss texts. Do you have to set the tone and restart the phone? I've had a similar problem with ringtones as well. You set a custom ringtone for a contact, it acknowledges that the tone is set, but the tone that's played for the contact is the default. I'm honestly starting to regret getting this phone. I'm running the most recent firmware for the Photon Q 4G LTE (7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_ASA-10). Unfortunately, the issue existed prior to the update and is still a problem.
of a sudden my phone stopped making any sound on incoming text. I had a downloaded notification tone from Zedge, but i deleted zedge and switched to a system tone after the problem started. I have taken battery out, still nothing. It makes sound on incoming phone calls and media, just texting.
I found another bug that is recreatable. If you are in the middle of sending a text message and using the voice input and talking to the voice input when a call comes in, the voice input is abandoned, the "answer/ignore" screen shows for a second. But before you can answer, the keyboard comes back up and covers it up, so you can't answer the call. And then the keyboard is stuck on the screen. "back" doesn't make it go away (so you still can't answer the call). Even if you go to the home screen, the keyboard is still on the screen. Stock phone, not rooted, all updates applied, etc.
Firstly, it seems that there is not a way to set the ringtones by contact group on this phone, can someone verify this or correct me please?Next up, I was not sure if the default phone was able to do distinct sounds for different contact's incoming sms (by group is better, but again I think it's not available by default)? Finally, if the phone cannot do these by default, two more questions:What is/are the best free ap/aps in your opinion to do these things? As I am new here, where would I make the suggestion or add my voice in support of it to include these as default features?
At random my Photon will not receive incoming phone calls. For instance, today this happened twice and the calls went directly to voicemail. Both calls came from other cell phones. This has happened a few times before while at work. I've had this phone for about 10 days now. System version 45.2.7, Android version 2.3.4, Build number 4.5.1A-1SUN-154_6.PDATE: 10-02-11: Again, phone would answer calls today at work. After 2 rings would go to voicemail. I have tried removing the battery and restarting but not luck
Just received a call on my Photon. The phone was in sleep state. It did not provide any options for answering the incoming call although the ringtone was loud and clear. It was as though the ringtone went off on its own.
Yesterday I realized that my phone was not receiving incoming texts or phone calls. I power cycled my phone and several texts from the last 1 1/2 days came through. My phone also started to work again. Has this happened to anyone else? Again this phone has a problem with its most basic function.
I have a bug on my phone. Some times I will send a text it won't show up in the chat box after I hit send. When I back out it will appear in the full text message list. When the recipient replies it will come in a new thread. All sent will be in a thread and all recieved will be in another. I have all contact phone numbers saved in this format: (555) 555-1212. It doesn't always perform this way and reacts randomly. Usually it will fix itself upon deletion of both threads and a soft reset.Any know fixes? Is this a known issue? Is anyone else having this Kernel version: 2.6.32.9Build number: 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6
Since the update or attempt to install the Swype beta I've had a problem with text boxes not receiving characters entered by the keyboard or voice command. I can pull up a search or text message or email. All of them will allow the keyboard to display and it vibrates to let me know I'm pressing characters, but nothing ever actually appears in the window. Same for voice input. It appears to be working, but no words actualy appear in the text window.
When i get a text or mms that i would like to forward on to some of my friends, and after getting to the To: box...there is no option or + sign to open up all the contacts. As it stands right now i have to tap each letter on the dial pad to load up the people i want to send it too..
my wife and i got Photons last wednesday night. we really love the phone but for some reason im not getting most of her text messages and shes not getting my sent text messages. her phone appears to not have this problem. we got our phones at radioshack an d we have 30 days to return them or trade them in. im just not sure what to do. i have my phone set up with all my apps
Suddenly started having an issue, wonder if anyone else has seen it. Periodically, I'll be unable to enter text into an SMS. The keyboard will pop up, but nothing I type actually registers. The only way I've found to resolve the issue is to reboot, which only lasts a few hours.
Yes, I'm having the new standard MOPHO problems, like no audio on calls, rebooting, etc. I noticed something new, today....I send a text, the answer comes in a different window, with the same name. Answer in the new window, it goes to the old. Back and forth. ARGH! Very aggrivating. Yes, I restarted, left the battery out, etc.
I would like my phone to vibrate for text messages and all other notifications when set to silent without having it vibrate at all times, is this possible? If I go to menu/settings/sound/ and select vibrate in silent mode it won't vibrate when im in silent mode. The only way for it to vibrate is to go to Text messaging/menu/messaging settings/ and select vibrate(also vibrate when notified) but this makes the phone vibrate at all times which is what I dont want. I took the phone to a sprint repair center and the display model did the same thing, the tech just thought it was weird and that was it.....
I'm looking for a way to either change the default text size for everything on the phone or use a pinch zoom function. I found the zoom mode in Accessability, but I dont need something like that, I just want the type fonts to be a little bigger. I know I could do that on my HTC phone, am I just missing the place to change that setting?
I really wish the Photon would display the actual time when an incoming text was sent rather than the time the phone received it. For instance, someone sends me a text at 3am while my phone is turned off. Then at 8am I turn it back on and received the text. But I have no idea what time the text was actually sent because it will be marked as 8am. With previous phones I had it would always show the actual time it was sent. Is this a bug or are all android phones like this?
On my Photon Email client with Live/Hotmail, if I receive an e-mail someone has sent me in text format (instead of HTML), the message body arrives as an attachment, which I have to then open with a different application. On my previous phone, the text showed up in the message body.Is there some way to switch how the email client works?
I just purchased a motorola photon Q 4GLTE. Used to have the Samsung Moment. On this motorola I can take videos in HD 1080 or HD 720 and 3 other lower settings but none of them will send via text or email. Message says the file is to large and to use the Video MMS setting. I used that setting and the quality of the video is awful and the sound is almost inaudible. but it will send in a text. How can I send or convert my HD videos to mms and send them via text and email? Do I only have the option of the video MMS mode? If so....I would much rather have my samsung moment back. took much better pictures and sent high quality videos. I have searched high and low and went to a sprint repair store and there are no answers to my problem. The store said they are made like that and don't have good quality mms settings. I can't believe this is so. Is there an app or a setting to fix this problem
Is there a setting that will make the text wrap when resizing? When I pinchzoom, the text resizes fine, but I then have to horizontal scroll and it's obnoxious. Traded from EVO Shift which had this capability.
Since I purchased my Photon a couple weeks ago, I have had this issue. Whenever someone sends me a text message including a photo, I receive a text from '9000' indicating that the person (phone number only-no name) has sent me a picture message, and prompts me to click on the Sprint picture mail website link to view the photo. Once I click the link, and the site finally opens, the picture is visible. Because the text is sent from 9000, I can't reply to the sender of the message by hitting 'reply,' because I would be replying to 9000. I called Sprint about this MMS issue, and they told me it's because this is a GSM phone. I'm hoping there is some setting or configuration that needs to be adjusted to allow my incoming picture messages to appear properly
On my old phone the, eternity i could hit the volume rocker on the side when i had a incoming call or text and the ringer would silence... How do i silence the ringer on the Atrix? I tried hitting the volume key and all it does is lower the volume instead of muting it all together...
Im getting emails and texts but I do not hear a notification sound when they come in. I have to remember to look at the device to notice an email or text has arrived. I have cycled power, selected different notification ringtones and adjusted volume. still no sound.
